Halo 3 - 2 Years On, Still One Of The Best Online Shooters On Consoles

Im shocked some people dont like COD4 i suppose you just dont get it/suck at it. Your loss, its the most revolutionary shooter this gen, very few games get my heart raceing like CoD4.

I think Halo 3 has excellent multiplayer.. it's just the matchmaking that takes too long between games.brandontwb

Though I still like the SP, myself.

Probably the best FPS on consoles I've played this gen. But I know others will disagree.

Great addition. It's really sad more games don't pick up on it.

I got on the other night to play some action sack variants, and I got Team Sumo, Mayan Grifball, and Rocket Race. Seriously, few games can barely match up to the variety that Halo has to offer.

COD4 for me. Halo 3 was too much of the same from past halo games for my liking. The Perks and challenges in COD4 made the game very enjoyable. Once you get past all the campers and learn how to deal with them the game is very fun.

reason why halo 3 is still fun is because it has really fun lighthearted gametypes like rocketrace and such. it's not always about ranking up or getting the next shiny weapon which is a reskin of the weapon you were just using

technically? yeah i suppose it is, its online community is horrible though, its full of "pro" gamers and little kids, not really my idea of a good online experience, of course you can still find good matches, but there too few and far between compared with overly serious people who play the game

Don't know why, maybe because I spent a lot of time with PC FPS or because I'm not that much of an FPS fan but I can't play it more than bursts of 5 minutes. Just feels too slow for my taste.

Previously Resistance 1, then COD4, then MW2. I like Halo 3 as long as I have a friend in the same room as me playing it with me. However, I would never say that those games were the best FPS, especially not Resistance ( People were practically forced to like that game as it was the only worthy PS3 game of its time. Still fun, though). Honestly, I couldn't choose a "best" because circumstances change. With a friend in the room, Halo 3 becomes the best thing ever. However, by myself MW2 becomes the best. Does that make sense?SuperNecro

Split screen Halo is really fun.

Split screen MW2 is really meh. Special Ops is fun, but competitive multiplayer with 4 players with no good weapons is extremely dull.

Actually, if you're going by statistics alone, Halo 3 is the best online shooter on consoles. It has been the most played game on Xbox LIVE for three strait years now (according to Major Nelson) and as we all know, Xbox LIVE has a much larger community than PS3.

on a more serious note, it is really impressive. Still don't get the appeal and i would much rather play other games online but hey... that's what opinions are for :P

Halo 3 has multiplayer that I can never get bored of. Definitely one of the best console shooters.

And 2 years later, no online shooter has all of the aspects that make great multiplayer, unlike Halo 3.

Well varied playlists? Check.

Balanced game mechanics? Check.

File Shares? Check.

Double EXP weekend? Check.

Forge? Check.

Custom games? Check.

Theatre? Check.

4 player co-op? Check.

Not to mention that the game has been frequently managed and updated since 07, and it actually feels like there is a community.

Sure, you can make claims, but no shooter on consoles touches Halo when it comes to multiplayer.

Halo franchise is just one of those types of games that never fade away. I will never stop playing Halo 3. It's one of those games that never get old due to its massive randomness.Darkmoone1

Funny this was the only thing I liked about Halo 3, then they got rid of it and I traded it in because the online is boring. Also if we're talking about online community, CS is still being played since 1998 I believe, and I have way more fun on that than I do on Halo and CoD, but that's just me.

I think Halo's MP is great but it's really far form being the best. There are VERY few good maps imo. the pit and narrows are the only maps I like, in KZ2 I LOVED every single map. And then the guns, the only good guns in Halo are the BR, the sniper which is good in every game, and the rockets, that are good in every game. Bungie needs to work hard on weapons and maps imo.
