Why do people try to keep bashing Bungie? If the only thing you can knock is that MS is making them charge ONE WHOLE DOLLAR for a map, then its safe to say you're running out of things to knock them on.
This update is worth going back to halo for a little bit, which is the point..to get people to come back from cod4 and whatnot. And I will. And others will. Keep tryin to knock them though, its pointless. hopesfall2own
Its totaly worth it, but I can't even if I want to because M$ is the Devil... Bungie is lucky they are no longer dominated by M$ because M$ would ruin them...

umm... are you... uh.... just read in between the lines.
the update is confirmed for the 23rd, well known. No doubt about that.
The achievement list confirms that there a 6 new maps each with a skull. The sanbox map proves itself in the achievements because sandbox is the only one not to have a matchmaking achievement and sanbox is what bungie.net calls forge with custom settings. The maps being free is proven by the fact that it says "do such in such on a mythic map on any ranked playlist"- maps that cost money are in dlc, not ranked.
that's NOT proof that they're free
Im sure Bungie would release them free if they could.[QUOTE="Gh0st_Of_0nyx"]Bungie's always milking there fans :roll:skrat_01
Its MSs doing, the make huge amounts of profit from dlc.
I was JK im going to by MS points by the end of this week so I can get the maps :DIm sure Bungie would release them free if they could.[QUOTE="Gh0st_Of_0nyx"]Bungie's always milking there fans :roll:skrat_01

MS milking gamers.....
and just how is this "milking"? 6 new maps for 600-800 points is a very good deal :?
people are throwing this term around and are forgetting the orginal meaning for it.
You are simply jumping to conclusions, and getting people excited over your hopes. There is no proof that the maps are coming out along with the update. Also I don't know where the hell you got news about them being for free, there is no info of that anywhere.
Also you said they update 2am eastern. This is also false. They always update the same time the marketplace always updates which is at 2am pacific, that is 5am eastern(the time zone I live in). TheTU2 along with the playlist updates are coming out together at that time.
Those are the facts... But I'm hoping the same thing you are.

Extra content should be distributed to keep the games community active, and keep building up the player base. This is the very fundementals of maps and updates in online games... for PC gaming this has been the norm for way over a decade, and has proven to be extremelly sucessful.....
Im sure Bungie would want to reward its player base, and pull more players back to the game, however companies such as MS who control the distribution realise how much can be earned from these map packs... that gamers will willingly shell out for them... defeating their purpose in the first place.
Hence why Valve was annoyed at being pushed into charging for the TF2 360 updates - and decided to wait until building up a large one that would be better for the gamers....
Heck I have grown up online gaming watching, online games, and their following content..... Even so a games popularity can be extended by user made content (take Quake user maps / game modes, or Counter Strike)....
It doesent need to be charged, and yes MS is milking (regardless of the maps quality)

You bring up good points. This IS Bungie's work we are talking about, and if they would do it for free just to please the fans then that's how it should be. But i have no problem giving Bungie the money they deserve.

It's funny how you only speak of MS, and what you say about PC gaming is the truth, but what about Sony? I recall charges for map packs for Resistance and Warhawk. I guess the point is that charging for map packs and extra content for console games is usually the norm.
Unfortunately, if games actually sold these days, it wouldnt be the problem. Unfortunately, some Publishers are resorting to now making you pay for the other half the game, and dare we say it, what you already haveExtra content should be distributed to keep the games community active, and keep building up the player base.

The great thing is that itll never creep into PC gaming, games on PC only sell because of good publicity. Yeah Spore is dogged with issues but thats a casual game, and its also a game that has had YEARS of hype
Sony are just as bad, Motorstorm and Warhawk arent even half gamesIt's funny how you only speak of MS, and what you say about PC gaming is the truth, but what about Sony? so...bassiclly...this is all based on on an assumption....
the only developers that would ever give something like this away for free are Blizzard or Valve...nobody else.

I love the whole hypocritical thing you got going there.

Well Sony are at fault too. Im just using MS as the main example, as we are talking about an Xbox game...It's funny how you only speak of MS, and what you say about PC gaming is the truth, but what about Sony? Well indeed it wont creep into PC gaming, its impossible after the many years of online gaming already; there is no single company that represents the platform or controls it, and users can simply create their own content.Unfortunately, if games actually sold these days, it wouldnt be the problem. Unfortunately, some Publishers are resorting to now making you pay for the other half the game, and dare we say it, what you already have

The biggest issue has been DRM recently, and thankfully EA seem to be on the backfoot, realising they are screwing the consumer (quotes on RockPaperShotgun.com).
Lol. I downloaded and tried the update the minute it came out. As for now, it just makes matchmaking faster and they added those extra achievements. Oh, they took out shield doors on Snowbound and Epitaph too. Snowbound's alternative name is now "Boundless". Why would they name it that?
Coz that's how Bungie rolls 8)
[QUOTE="FirstDiscovery"]So wait a minute, did we get the maps for free then?web966
The maps arent available yet.
Okay but will we or is it still speculation?[QUOTE="FirstDiscovery"][QUOTE="web966"][QUOTE="FirstDiscovery"]So wait a minute, did we get the maps for free then?web966

Okay but will we or is it still speculation? Its all speculation at the moment, Bungie has said nothing.
Then its too good to be true:(Anyone know when the new maps are coming?web966
Bungie has been teasing "big things" for the 9/25, as it is one year after Halo 3 was released.
