Not only that, but Mario is still topping the charts while Halo is scraping the bottom of the top twenty. At the rate things are going, Mario Galaxy should pass Halo 3 right around the time Smash Brothers is released (another Wii game that will outsell Halo 3)

Exactly. The largest money ever earned in a week or something like that. Galaxy didn't beat that, and looking at how Halo 3 and as all other games slow down in sales...for obvious reasons...so will Galaxy. I am also not going to say that SSBB will beat it. Every one has heard of Mario or Halo, but not SSBM. Mario and Halo maybe the two most casual games out there.

Mario games continue to have decent sales throughout the life of the console... that's why almost every Mario game (SMS being the exception) have sold 10 million plus. SMG will certainly reach that number.

Like I said it's tracking ahead of Sunshine. That means it will sell more than 5.5 million and Halo has shipped 8 million so far.

I don't understand why Mario hasn't sold 15 million copies considering its 1 of only a handful of titles worth owning on Wii. Halo on the other hand has a boatload of competition on 360.EG101

Software and media sales are measured within the same time frame not how much they gained over a long period of time.

Funny thing about Halo 3's launch is it showed how much people, namely the media in general still wants to reject VGs as a legitimate art, or just a respectable source of entertainment period.

For it to do what it did, and only gamers, and financial advisers to really notice?

Where are the speechs by the President? Where is the constant use of a Halo-originated phrase in everyones vocabulary and in films? (1-up hello!)

Seriously, no one cares as much about Halo as Dragon Quest, DQ games in Japan are practically a holiday.

Well it was the biggest game launch ever Mario did not sell anywhere near as well in the first day nor first week. Mario games always sell well mostly because they are great games that everyone loves.

The average 360 owner has had 12 more months to purchase games (as well as many more games available to purchase), of course the attach ratio is going to be higher. Also, NPD doesn't account for Wii Sports, while, in all honestly, many Wii gamers would purchase the game even if it didn't come with the console. The Wii is doing just fine software-wise. I didn't track the numbers like I usually do through the holidays, but it looks as if the Wii's software outsold the 360's software in every region through the holidays.
