The problem wiith doing a review of halo is that the English language doesn't have enough words to describe its awesomeness, so we are left with only a few words which speak much louder than any paragraph could.

Why would a review from a UK mag be a lot more reliable than a U.S. one?

Because if it's anything like Simon Cowell, Gordon Ramsay, or Jeremy Clarkson, people in the UK have very discriminating tastes.

There are those to seem to like it though. I don't know if they genuinely like it, or just want to be different. You know who they are... the ones with soccer stuff in their avatars and sigs. I prefer American football. There's much more action. SD Chargers and LaDainian Tomlinson FTW!

ditto... late for one (where is the lair review?? The game came out 2 days ago) and random... (warhawk 8.5 yet 6.5 from PSM magazine... Blue Dragon 6.0 and 8.5-9.0s eveywhere else?) The problem is you have a bunch of ultra opinionated people giving reviews that let it get in the way of journalistic integrity of giving consitant ratings.

Actually Ive found out that the site copied the contents halfed assed, I thought the same thing at first too. Its also a preview not a review.

The only, only criticism we can think of is that, while it looks great, it doesn't look *amazing*. Which is a stupid thing to criticise it for really. Which basically leaves us with only the good things to say about. And when we say 'good" we really mean, 'exceptional'. One thing's clear: a whole lot of love, and effort has gone into making it a well-rounded game. The single player combat is an evolution of an already near-perfect system - and it's only going to get better with four-player co-op. On top of that you have a multiplayer mode that's simply bursting at the seams with cool features and options demonstrating that Bungie have thought about what people want from the game, and have gone out of their way to deliver it.

Our thoughts then? We're *hugely* excited - mainly because, as a package, few games can claim to be so generous. Make time to play this, this one's going to take some playing...

HOW DOES IT PLAY?
Exactly like Halo. Well, almost - there are subtle control differences, but it still plays and feels exactly like Halo, which, let's face it, is a very good thing - mainly because it reminds you of how much Bungine have perfected it. WHere it feels dramatically different is in the scale. The size of the environments, the amount of enemies, the better AI - everything comes together to make combat in Halo a much grander experience, that's quite simply second to none.

ANY PROBLEMS?
None *really*. We did feel a slight twinge of disappointment in the fact that it doesn't look *amazing* but that's about it.

BEST BIT SO FAR
Probably getting the Elephant jammed in a canyon, and watching our team perish as Warthogs and Banshees came crashing down from the sky in a mental moment of metal carnage.

lol @ GS reviews being the only decent ones out there. i know i'm posting on GS but seriously man, GS suffers from 'being critical to be cool / ignite fanboy debate to get more hits on their website' syndrome. i don't think being unnecessarily harsh for the sake of making more money is a good thing personally. if you actually read every GS review and compared them with GOOD reviews then I think you'd see this too. A lot of GS reviews are blatantly ignorant with glaring mistakes and omissions in the reviews -- Jeff G is great for this, like dropping Bioshock because it apparently lagged on his console, if he'd been responsible and tried it out on different setups he'd have realized the fault was with his system - not the game. there are countless other examples I can bring up if you like that either a) show the reviewer didn't spend enough time with the game, or b) the reviewer just didn't get game mechanics or certain aspects of games and because of their ignorance the score suffered.

this is well known / accepted. kotaku mocks gamespot, and so do countless other blogs. they are not well respected for their reviews by anybody except for the reviewers here, and obviously some of the readers.

skrat, you really have no idea what you're on about at all. Games Master has been going since the 80s. It's not a crappy magazine like Play, or the games section in a men's mag. It's very credible. Heck, probably more so than gamespot.

Your complaints are unfounded as a) you're whining about a review when it isn't a review. It's a preview. Every month they do a most wanted section. Each game gets about half a page. It's not a huge editorial or a detailed review. It is literally a series of bulletpoints on what they like and dont like about builds of games they've been playing, followed by a most-wanted rating out of five.

Their actual REVIEWS take up several pages for big games, and are rated out of 100, in which they will go into great detail about the pros and cons rather than simply bullet points.

And please drop the "but they're fanboys!" nonsense as their review of Halo 2 did nothing but point out how much bettter it could have been. It's a multi-format magazine. They review games on every system.

I dont know how many times it needs to be said but it is a PREVIEW. Not a REview. A PREview. Yet lord knows people will continue posting about what a good/bad review it is anyway....

Well it wouldnt be a problem if so anyway because having the same exact feel as the older games is a lot diffrent then retaining the same aspects. That could mean they not only retained the orginal feel of the game but were also able to add more to it and keep that feel.

The only time it would be a problem was if they said nearly the same exact thing and gave no other reasons and still gave it a way higher score.

If they read the thread they know what it is. but if they read the first post they will never see you comments saying it's a preview....so what's teh point in saying it over and over? If they do read the thread they'll see their mistake, but it really doesn't matter if it's a preview or review becuse it isn't GS review.
