Forge allowed for nearly endless replay value in all multiplayer maps.

The video playback feature allowed for some ridiculously fun machinima. Check Digital Ph33r and Rooster Teeth on youtube.

Most importantly....Halo 3, a september 07 game, pulled off 4 player online coop. Modern fps of today have online coop, its an accepted feature. If KZ2 doesnt have this....what makes you think itll get a 9.5 or a 10?

The lack of online coop will hurt this game, making it possibly a 8.5 - 9.0. There is no excuse for no online coop.

Enough with Halo 3 4-player rubbish. It's campaign had it's moments but it's story is terrible.I've played it with 4 people online, it's fun but when your stuck with a campaign like that, it gets old. Why bring up Forge? The video playback thing isn't essential to a fps game. A lot of games are good without online-coop. I really doubt the lack of online coop will hurt the game. If it's like the first, then yea it'll hurt the game.

Thanks for the tip. I guess I'll go buy Halo 3 soon and enjoy it on my newly purchased Xbox until Killzone 2 comes along. Btw, I may be new but you're my favorite poster here and this is coming from a proud PS3 fan. Keep up the good work!

Personally I do not care, I have not jumped on the "ZOMG CO-OP!!111!!!" bandwagon.

I play my FPS multiplayers the old ways, Death Match,Team Death Match,CTF,etc.

Split screen co-op and online co-op is an expectation of mine because my g/f plays shooters with me and I have a lot of friends on XBL that we play with together collectively. I'm less inclined to buy a shooter if it doesn't have co-op. Just my opinion though. :)

COD4 didnt have Forge or coop either, yet it was arguably the best shooter (against Halo 3) for 2007.

I wouldn't go as far as dissapointed, i've played plenty of shooters that didn't have co-op, or co-op worth playing and still enjoyed them alot. It would just be a nice feature. Just out of intrest, do you ever find yourself dissapointed with knowing no game on the Xbox 360 has graphics that match the quality of Killzone 2?

While I do think coop should be a standard in shooters expecially after Left 4 dead and resistance 2 and halo 3. but im still gonna get it

why do you hope killzone 2 gets a bad score?

1) nobody should care what kind of a ranking a game gets on gamespot, period. there is this thing called 'peer review' on the internet where you can listen to what hundreds of losers just like you think instead of one loser

2) a game getting positive reviews is good for the gaming industry as a whole, and nobody who cares about video games benefits from a bad game being released

really... who cares, i hope its awesome and i can almost guarantee ill never play it

I'm simply saying, COD4 gave Halo 3 a run for it's money without those features, proving it's not completely needed to compete. And if the expectations have risen since 2007, then Halo 3 should have been even more ahead of it's time, giving it the clear KO to COD4 waaay back in ol' 2007... but it didnt.

Like you keep saying, it's 2009. Maybe the focus is on a more immersive single player experience that doesn't rely on Co-op to keep its campaign enjoyable. Sorry lem, you can keep a game enjoyable in multiple ways and by focusing on an enjoyable single player experience may just be one of those ways.

OMG THERE ISN'T TEH COOP. GAME SUCKS!!! no excuse??? maybe they wanted to make the game better instead of spending development time on another feature. ok so let me replicate your argument this way. "16 man online isn't good enough these days, expectations have changed. look at the first resistance, that pulled off 40 man online and that was in 2006. why do games such as Gears 2 or Halo 3 limit the amount of players in a game to just 16? at least KZ2 will have 32 man online with badass graphics. those 360 games should have gotten lower score because of their online player limit. "

For Killzone 2 to be a Halo killer it would have to have all the features of halo 3 plus more, and maybe fill that Blu-Ray up with a 20 hour campaign.

As fanboyish as the TC may sound, he does point to a small concern of mine.

It looks like KZ2 will be nicely polished. But in terms of features and mechanics, how will it distinguish itself from the rest of the FPSs?

COD4 had its levelling system, perks and all. Halo 3 has online co-op and community features. What is KZ2 bringing to the table, other than great graphics, to make it stand out?

Gears of War only had 2 player Co-op and it did well.

RFOM2 had more then 2 player Co-op and did well.

I don't think its going to destroy KZ2 for not having it man.

The class system seems cool as long as they make it compelling and balanced. Could add a bit of longevity to the game. That, I'd love to see in action.

Taken separately, those things are just refinements to mechanics we've seen plenty of times. If GG can get all of those things to work nicely together, it would help redeem the franchise.

The thing is..... why aren't these features focused on? All we keep hearing about is graphics, followed by a stream of obligatory screenshots.
