[QUOTE="Nisim19"]HALO 3 have the best lighting in this Gen
Pariah_001
Killzone 2 says hello.
I dont understand what's great about killzone's lighting at all. :?
Dude, these are still images. It doesnt look like that in the game. Not even close. Even a game running at full 1080p wont even look that good. Mind you, Halo 3 doesnt even run at 720p. You're misinterpreting still images and real in-game visuals. They do not look the same, not even close.Elann2008
They do, you just dont realise it. In the very first level, as you walk fowards for the first time past the you crashed, stop and look up. It's bungie's fault for not putting it in the player's line of sight, but seriously, stop and look up, and be amazed at the lighting coming through the tree canopy and the thin layer of haze. It's very beautiful indeed. I think we just dont notice the subtle lighting effects when you're shooting stuff.
if by best you mean most average then yesHeydanbud92
If it's average, post games which look better. And no, not Crysis. Crysis destroys everything, hands down. If Halo has average lighting however (despite have two frame buffers just to make the lighting engine work as well as it does), please show the games which have lighting so damn awesome that Halo is average in comparison.

Stalker. If you have not played the game,go look at screenshots and watch videos yourself,I'm too lazy to post them.
The game is AMAZING looking
...but EXTREMELY ugly in others.
Its just a very inconsistent. some the indoor levels look like a shinier Halo CE

I have played stalker. It is amazing. It hardly proves the point that halo's lighting is average though, does it?

Like it or hate it, it's lighting is going to involve some of the most extensive programming this generation. It's probably going to be on par with Alan Wake's lighting.

After reading that I thought I would go have a look.

Sorry but I don't see what makes it look as impressive as Alan Wake's lighting, any better examples?

All that means is that you didn't do enough for research. There's more than just a preview.

Well I looked around and there was indeed an article talking about the lighting, sadly it no longer exists.
I found somewhere that quoted it but without images the descriptions are not much to go on.
Play the Cortana level and the end of the Floodgates level (where you enter that downed flood infested covenant ship to look for Cortana). Those two levels showcase some amazing lighting.
[QUOTE="urdead18"]KZ2 lighting isn't HDR or dynamic. Yes it isKillzone 2 and Crysis obliterate it.

I really liked the lighting in Halo 3, but watching the ODST video they have mastered the art of lighting for console games imo. Looks amazing.
[QUOTE="VitunLehmat"][QUOTE="urdead18"]KZ2 lighting isn't HDR or dynamic. The muzzle flash lighting isn't dynamic...? And it definitely looks like HDR to me. not only muzzle flash but did you guys see the lighting on the helghast when they ambush you in the storm. amazing lighting. I'm gonna use the default answer and say that Uncharted, Crysis, and KZ2 all have better lighting. Halo3 is excessiveKillzone 2 and Crysis obliterate it.
