Imagine if Oblivion was twice as big and had 3 times as much detail...

Then the game would have taken twice the amount of time to design, at twice the cost, be barely able to keep up with current graphics on release and people would have moved on.

You really don't understand game development. Disk space is a tiny factor compared to time and cost.

correct...and if people pioneer the technology today then we can have it tommorow that much sooner....in that regard Sony blows EVERYONE outta the water.

because we all know that sony has put out some amazing games already....lol. Way to use the "next gen" disk space to created only one AAA game that is a year old pc/360 port.

 

the sad thing is....oblivion doesnt even use the extra space, which goes to show you that less is apparently better so far this gen

And then the developer will make less profits on their game, and most likely decide not to make any more (of the franchise).

It happened with Shenmue

I could make a 5 hour HD movie of some dude picking his nose and that takes up say 47 gigs. To view each frame you need to press the O button. That's a game and takes 47 gigs. That means it's clearly superior to every other game in existance.
