live activity for week july 21

1Halo 3
2Call of Duty 4
3GTA IV
4Gears of War
5Guitar Hero III
6Rock Band
7Battlefield: Bad Company
8Too Human Demo
9Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2
10NCAA Football 09

just noticed the past two weeks people seemed to have returned to halo3, leaving cod4 at #2 spot.

does this mean cod4 was a fad? or it's here to stay and will go back to #1 soon?

Halo 3 is more over the top action and all out fun.

Halo 3, personally, though i wouldnt hate on COD4. It's a great game. I just find it a little too easy and kinda repetitive.

I personally enjoy Halo 3 more, but I also like COD4 and play that sometimes as well... the style of play in COD4 frustrates me more oftenand often seems "cheaper," still an awesome game though. I think you'll find many COD4 hating on Halo endlessly because it's such a recognizable and popular FPS, but not the other way around.

Doesn't surprise me. Halo 3 has more core players who will stick around whiile I'm guessing a lot of the COD community will get divided once games like Bad Company come out.

CoD4 is more real and more about patience and teamwork.

Cold Storage and Bungie Day.

Aswell as the new Bungie game hype.

That's why the difference.

Also MP wise Halo 3 >>> CoD 4 for me, but the SP is a bit more even, with Halo edging it out becasue of player Co-Op.

I like Halo 3 more. I don't like the fact that Airstrikes and Choppers make getting huge kills so easy...It almost takes half the skill away.

What I love about COD 4 mp is

Unlocking weapons does give you something to work for(until it is over and it means nothing anymore again)
The shooting mechanics are great
60 FPS and a sprint button just keeps the pace of the game great.

What i hate are
Overpowered perks
Aspects of the game that make it a fragfest and not as tactical as it once was(team hardcore is fun)
The "Deep" aspects of the game are overrated, it isn't deep
IT is EASY....really easy. It is for the most part an easy MP experience, it takes Skill to SUCK at the game.

I think Halo 3 is better because
Tougher Competition because the Halo Community has been playing longer
WTF moments because of the sty1e of game Halo is
Variety in combat because of the different types of weapons, equipment, turrets, vehicles, and map variations
Variety in game modes(that change up the gameplay actually)
Theatre and customizable gameplay
Community Interface for consoles.

The console COD 4 isn't as good as Halo 3. I think the PC version is the one that honestly runs with Halo 3 because it has community gaming options.

So with that said the ultimate kicker is Halo 3 has Rocket Race and Griffball....:)

No, but it does take more patience, ya know, with all the camping people do on that game. I think that cod4 is a amazing game, but it seems that every game that I play I get killed because I was stupid enough to actually go somewhere. I don't like to camp so thats a big reason why I prefer Halo 3.

ok while yes it is easy. and yes ranking is pathetic(a monkey could get to level 55 in that game)

COD 4 isn't exactly a game that takes absolutely no skill.

In team varients and team hardcore it does require proper team work(yes i know the game allows you to go rambo)
The gunplay mechanics are excellent,
THe maps are well designed and balanced(which can be held against a few Halo 3 maps)
The overall game is polished

Sure there are some unbalanced perks that get overused...but to be honest if you die by martrydom so many times(which you shouldn't to be quite honest) that is your fault, you hear the gernade fall and on top of that there is an icon indicating that a gernade has hit the floor.|

I do agree it is an easier game than Halo 3...

Halo 3 requires way more team work than COD 4....it isn't even close in that aspect

On higher levels in team slayer, or swat, or MLG, or team hardcore, or team objective if you try to go Rambo and not work as a team you die....quick....

Well maybe not in SWAT.....

Tough choice. Halo 3 has so many features like Forge and the films. What I like about COD4 is the smooth controls, movement, and the very act of shooting is done much better in my opinion. The bullet penetration really helps to make it what it is. I like the customization of my guns, and earning points for new guns and perks is very addictive. I feel like I'm really progressing with every win in COD4, whereas I feel kind of stagnant after wins in Halo.

if people used team work on halo properly, it would make it much easier to own matches. people just dont seem to listen very well, actually it happens in a lot of online games, clans seem to be the only ones ever to use teammates. and i guess when your playing with your friends through voice chat aswell.

cod4 is a bit like cs, as in not as much teamwork i guess. i think cod4 requires a bit more teamwork than cs because of all the different modes. in cs you can see people with huge kill death ratios while the rest of the team are far below. everyone seems to go lone ranger in cs.

I am a level 45 in Team Slayer, a 38 in Team Objective, and I am over 30 in most other original game types. I know what it takes to win in Halo. But IMO, its much more critical to work as a team in CoD4 than in Halo 3.

There are some cases where that is not the case, but overall, I feel CoD4 requires more teamwork, especially in the hardcore games, which is what I play on.

They're both great games, but i think Halo 3 takes it. COD4 has no co-op of any sort, very few online modes (it may look like a lot but it really isn't), and no split-screen online play. Halo 3 has a bigger variety of game modes,up to 4 player online co-op, meta game, and more but i don't feel like listing...

any game is made easier if you work as a team.

The difference is that to be honest COD 4s community doesn't understand team work? even clans don't bother mosto f the time.

it is mostly simple stuff.

Halo 3 on the other hand....doesn't matter if you hit 30s its time to start working as a team, or you are going to be giving out alot of steaktaculers.

not that COD 4 is bad, its just that it isn't a big team game.

Halo 3 is a team game but I would also go as far as to say

Team Fortress 2 is a much, much better TEAM game...

Kind of like a
Low- COD 4
Medium- Halo 3
High- Team Fortress 2

in terms of how much teamwork is needed.....

Could be true. I cannot stand the other modes in CoD4 enough to play them. Hardcore is where I am at. I love that variant.

those weren't the best examples

But teamwork in COD 4=OVERKILL for the most part

Because of the way the respawning works, and the airstrikes, and such

it is easy to just start cornoring a team in, then pick them apart as they start to respawn(because you try to keep everybody confined in one area

Thus leading to massive airstrikes, choppers kills, and huge kill counts, with fewer deaths

there are strategies involved in COD 4 as well. Sure most of it is using a game designe flaw to your benefit, but for the most part there are aspects of the game that require team work

Location

Getting the UAV for your teammate with the airstrike

being the cover sniper for the people further down the map

Being the cover for your sniper...and making sure he gets his time to get his shots...

Depends on the system.

COD4 on PC is better.

However on the 360 - Halo 3 feels much more suited, and for that reason on a console Halo 3 multi is better.

Overral though COD4 on PC outdoes it.

[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"] team hardcore in COD 4 yeah i agree with that....everything else not as much...

and i wasn't trying to shoot you down or anything....i was just saying that Halo is a team game...my bad if it came out wrong.

I think search and destroy and the hardcore varients are the only moments in COD 4 where team is actually critical, i think the gameplay kind of lends itself out to be Rambo like....But I mostly snipe so take that with a grain of salt I guess.SpruceCaboose

Could be true. I cannot stand the other modes in CoD4 enough to play them. Hardcore is where I am at. I love that variant.

Slightly off-topic, me, you, and FBISniper should play Halo 3 some day and potentially own!

If you'd like a 4th for that group I'd be up for it. I'm lvl 47 in team slayer and my gamertag is philamanjaro. send me a friend request if you want to.

I find both games enjoyable to play in their own ways which I tend to switch back and forth. Out of the two I prefer Halo 3 more. I like the variety type of games Halo 3 has to offer from team slayer to Riffball.

of cours it was a fad. Peoeple finally realized it takes no skill. The game has some fun in it, but it i snothing, but a camp fest of a game and your rank basically means nothing.too_much_eslim

I completely disagree.

Camping only happens in the free-for-all modes.

It happens very rarely in team games.

Also, the game requires A LOT of skill.

I believe it requires a lot more skill than Halo.

COD4 is all about your accuracy, your attention to the slightest of movements, watching your enemies moves, incase they're trying to flank your team, and etc.

I do agree, Rank means nothing, but in most cases, rank means nothing in Halo 3 as well.

There are gold crosses rankers that are just godly, and others that are just noob.

In conclusion, COD4 is better than Halo 3.

That exact same thing can be said about Halo 3.

Doesn't surprise me. Halo 3 has more core players who will stick around whiile I'm guessing a lot of the COD community will get divided once games like Bad Company come out.

[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"]

CoD4 is more real and more about patience and teamwork.

II-FBIsniper-II

Are you saying COD4 takes more teamwork than Halo 3? Sorry, that's just ridiculous.

yeah, I've been playing Halo3 consistantly since release and I still get entertainment out of it. I think the reason is that Bungie kept tossing out new modes and maps for us to play, keeps things fresh. If they keep that up next year as well, then I'll deffinitely keep playing.

Halo 3. Bungie will keep support on Halo 3 and keep it up in atleast the top 5 til either the next Halo or the next Xbox. CoD4 will be an afterthought once CoD WOW is out. Not saying it will be a better game than 4... but people won't realize that IW is not making CoD WOW and buy it cause of CoD4.

Also I think Halo is the better skilled game. It's harder to rack up Kills in Halo than it is in CoD4.
