exactly what i thought, the game seems unneaded and uncalled for, since Halo and Halo 2 had no expansions or side games, etc.
hate these type of stuff. Milking titles.

It's ironic that someone with an MGS4 avatar and a Resident Evil sig talks about milking titles. However, people did ask for expanding the universe. People wanted to know what else was going on in the universe.
If you don't want it, don't buy it. Do you honestly think you crying about it on GameSpot is going to do anything?
Why are people so obsessed with always downplaying something?
Absolutely not. This is Bungie's way of giving back to the fans. It's a thank you. Bungie decided to do this, with no influence whatsoever from MS. It's also a way for them to slowly ease their company focus and the fans out of Halo, instead of jolting to something completely different.
I've been following Bungie long enough to know they would never do something just because some company like MS said, "do it."
Just be thankfull cows that now you do not have to worry at all about KZ2 being delayed yet again. There is NO WAY Sony wants KZ2 to come out anywhere near Halo. They are smarter then that. Even though KZ2 has been delayed a few times Bungie just made sure it would not get delayed again

when did an official RE title with the same number come out on the same console with a side game, expansion?
this game is called HALO 3: Recon?
where is RE 4: Leons revenge? LMFAO!
as for my comments, its MY OPINION..hate it?

Milking titles , how bout that MGS card game for the psp....
Yes, but MGS isn't milking the same game, just making more titles for other platforms that are unrelated.
this is still HALO 3, but in a different light. Why not just work on 4 and do it with that.

I would consider a card-based game more milkage than a expansion pack to existing game. Maybe I'm just weird.
Truth is though, no one knows what spurred Bungie into making this game. The OP is based on blind speculation.
speculation much?
Ok cool
yes the announcement is MS's doing. Gives the fans something to look forward too.
Forced to make a game? nah...
lack of games in 09? nah...just because Sony announces stuff 1 year in advance, that doesn't mean MS has to do the same. Halo is a high profile game, that's probably why they decided to announce it allready

If it was their way of giving back to the fans as a thank you, wouldn't they plan on releasing it for free(kind of like Wolfenstein Enemy Territory)?

It's a new campaign, new multiplayer, new story..
things cost money you know. You think they shouldn't be rewarded for the hard work?
I mean since there is nothing big to look forward to on the 360 in 09...well maybe MS hasn't announced anything yet, but I'm going by what I know and what everyone knows right now. I think that there isn't much to look forward to in 09 for the 360 so MS is kinda forcing Bungie to make this game for one last time. I mean think about it, this game was not needed, nobody asked for this game so why would they just make a silly expansion pack and call it a new game? Why not actually make a whole new game? IlivedHmm, cows in late 2006 said the same thing about 07 because nothing was announced. Oh they said the same ting in late 2007 about 08 because nothing was announced. Now in late 2008 cows are now saying MS has nothing in 09. Don't you guys get tired of being owned on an annual basis about the EXACT SAME THINGS? It's like groundhog day but you guys never learn from past mistakes.
I doubt you all know the full story regarding Recon.
Its Bungies pet project. As they have stated on Bungie.net, its their way of thanking their fans for their support of the Halo franchise, especially around the time CE was released and the make or break months that followed it. its being developed by the Combat evolved team as a pure fanservice game.
its no forced at all, its a labor of love.:)
good old bungie, they really care for their community, their 7th column as they call it. :P

Not with bungie, Seriously they are one of the most community based devs out their, they won the awards and acknowlagments to prove it, half there staff were sourced via their community site.
Of coarse there is a money facor, but if it really was a forced move, a ''Bungie can you please save the XBox again?'', do you really think the dev team would be so small, wouldnt desperation warrent a larger task force?
There is no reason to doubt anything that Bungie states about their projects, the evidence adds up and their track record is impecable. :)

Of course there is more to it then just the fans. They know Halo sells great and they like making money and Halo makes a ton.Has any PS3 game had better first day sales then halo 3? Not even close
Has any PS3 game sold more then Halo 3? Not even close and that is including the ones that they bundled to pad their numbers.
Has any PS3 game made the PS3 sell more then the Wii on NPD? No but Halo did
You can try and bad mouth Halo all you want with your old man Snake avatar and try to damage control it but the fact is you know Ps3 does not have anything that will go against Halo. I am sure many sheep, lemmings, and hermits would love to see KZ2 get delayed yet again just so it could go agaist Halo. I know I would like to see Halo crush KZ2 which i am sure it would in score and sales. Eveyone on this board I am sure knows that Halo3: Recon will outsell every PS3 game out now.
I'm SP and I approve of this message. :)I doubt you all know the full story regarding Recon.

Did I say anything close to "They shouldn't be rewarded for their work"? Or was I commenting that it isn't a "Thank You" to the fans?
Learn how to read, son.
I mean since there is nothing big to look forward to on the 360 in 09Ilived
Wasn't this said in 2006, 2007 and now its being said in 2008. Haven't you learned by now that each time this has been said, its been proven wrong? The way I see it is, cows are like a 2-month old puppy, you have to constantly tap it on the nose with a newspappers for it to get the message of whatever it is you want it NOT to do. History has done this twice to cows already, when will you learn?
...well maybe MS hasn't announced anything yet, but I'm going by what I know and what everyone knows right now.IlivedIsn't this paradoxical to your first sentence? :|

Nope, no one wanted more Halo. They are making a new game, this is being handled by a small team within Bungie, not by the whole team.
The way I see it is, your thread is just massive flaimbait looking to take advantage of how everyone feels when you mention Halo around here. I find it hard to believe that someone could overlook other expansions like Crysis Warhead, WOTLK, GT5P which are soon to be released nontheless and still ask the stupidest questions and make the dumbest statements your making about a game were getting a year from now. WOW
lmao MS can't force Bungie to do anything anymore, Bungie is an independent company now. They could have just stopped making Halo all together and worked on a new ip, but they chose to expand upon a universe they still enjoy and still have lots of fans of.Vaasmanthats right, they said that there next project is not tied with MS anymore

They said that they had not committed to any platform. I would not hold my breath for it on any other system just yet though.
How is making the first expansion pack in franchise history milking a title...? Please explain this.exactly what i thought, the game seems unneaded and uncalled for, since Halo and Halo 2 had no expansions or side games, etc.
hate these type of stuff. Milking titles.

See, if you make a sequel to a popular game, fan on the other side of the fence always cry "Milkage!". Happens every time for every platform.

I didnt try to downplay your opinion, I only pointed out the irony.
There is no getting around the fact that there are only FOUR Halo games. Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 3: Recon.
Want to go through all the Resident Evil games? How about Metal Gear Solid? Then you have the nerve to talk about milkage..
It's MS's attempt to make up for a lack of MGS4.SolidGame_basic
the lack of what now? seriously you cows have officially lost it beyond repair. MGS4's sales still haven't even touched Halo3's and you are claiming that MS NEEDS to have games like this to help them recover from not having MGS4. OMG....too much ignorance for such a small spot on the internet.

This is what happens when SW posters start thinking that the SW mindset can cross into the real world. Inside SW, MGS4 is the AAAA, proverbial "best game evar" this gen. In the real world, Halo 3 has higher review aggregates and sales than MGS4.

[QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"]I don't care how forced it seems, more Halo is only a good thing.Nedemisagreed, but I do think Halo3 was a step backwards from even Halo2 in the MP aspect of things. 4 player co-op was brilliant and well thought out though. :)
I never played H 2 online so I can't really agree or disagree. I love the MP of H 3 though, I've been playing it consistently over the past year. I loved the co-op too, I just wish the campaign was longer.
