Halo 3 Recon seems to be forced.

I mean since there is nothing big to look forward to on the 360 in 09...well maybe MS hasn't announced anything yet, but I'm going by what I know and what everyone knows right now. I think that there isn't much to look forward to in 09 for the 360 so MS is kinda forcing Bungie to make this game for one last time. I mean think about it, this game was not needed, nobody asked for this game so why would they just make a silly expansion pack and call it a new game? Why not actually make a whole new game? Ilived

First off, we wont know the complete 09 line-up until E3 09 at the latest, so judging it now is pointless. Secondly, Bungie are independent. They dont get told what to do. They have a small team working on this as a 'side project' while the rest work on a whole new game. So I think that answers your questions.

More Halo can only be a good thing to fans. And the game has a lot of fans.

Cows crack me up. I love the part where MS "forced" Bungie to make a game even though Bungie is not a part of MS now. Does PS3 have any games that have sold more then Halo 3? No it does not. Halo 3 sells great and Bungie knows the fans would love another one. It also will be 2 years inbetween halo 3 and Recon. I was listening to the podcast "Three red lights" by IGN. in that podcast around the 13:00 min mark they say that, Bungie had said they had a small team working on multiplayer Halo3 maps, but they also started doing their own thing on the side which turned into an expansion and now they are only working on that. so if I heard the podcast correctly, they really just started on the project.

so no, it doesn't sound like MS forced them to do it, no it doesn't sound like its only being done cause they have NOTHING for next year. its bad enough that analysts don't get anything right guessing, but at least they get paid for it.:P

i strongly agree with you there. MS can't force them to do nothing. Bungie is independent, and has been for some months already. but i don't discard the possibility that MS paid them to do a game. it's not like they didn't do it before. it's not like they're not buying exclusive content from a lot of games. it's not like MS has no copyrights of the Halo series.

This is what happens when SW posters start thinking that the SW mindset can cross into the real world. Inside SW, MGS4 is the AAAA, proverbial "best game evar" this gen. In the real world, Halo 3 has higher review aggregates and sales than MGS4.

bungie has 3 projects in the works and this one was the only one that was ready to be announced.

What makes me laugh is that the Multiplayer component works with the current Halo 3. Which makes me think that the two games can't be all that different. Which makes me sad.

Exactly. It is forced but fans of the game will buy. It will just be a 5 hour spin off, but Bungie know it will get just as much undeserving attention as the rest of the HALO games. Thus they will get away with selling it at full price. HALO has grown old and tired now. Glad they somewhat ended the story with HALO3. Now there just milking with a spin off title.

FPS's shouldn't be striving anymore to be HALO killers, that title has gotten old and laughable. HALO is generic at best now.

I'm not a fan of Halo MP, but the single player and co-op are awesome. No way is the Halo series laughable. I've been gaming now for 27 years, so I hope I know a great game by now and Halo's gameplay from the AI to the combat is top-notch - always feeling fresh every time you play it. It's just the solidity of the gameplay, the game world that Bungie have created and the variety in level (especially Halo3) that make it stand out from other FPS.

The fact that you felt the need to post your opinion is testament to how much attention Halo does deserve.

Because it's not an expansion for Halo 3, It's a standalone game in the Halo 3 universe... aka a spin off.

Expansions require a previous version of the game to play... this doesn't require that you own Halo 3, but it does give you benifits from doing so... That alone doesn't make it an expansion though.

I agree with you. But some people would call the Sims Expansions enough new conntent to not be milked. Everyone has their own level where they draw the line. What ends up happening is that we only call milkage on other people and packages that they might see as worthwhile, All the while we are buying packages they would call milkage.

I quite like the Halo universe etc and so in that respect, it is a welcomed announcement and for all the fans who are looking forward to this game, it is also a welcomed announcement. They seem to be trying to take a slightly different approach, this to me doesn't have the ring of them trying to make a quick buck. This comes across as more of a side project. These are simply my interpretations but this doesn't seem forced.

Of course, if this comes out and it stinks of being rushed out and the overall quality is poor then I will be the first to announce milkage.
