[QUOTE="Meu2k7"]Halo 3 will not get below 9.0 , this "bu but MP3 is teh great franchise and got 8.5" whine has to end.DSgamer64
The damage control against what is the truth is pretty pathetic. Other hyped shooters did not get AAA, and Bioshock was lucky to get a 9 on GS because it had some new features, Halo 3 is the exact same except for graphics and Forge, those are not enough to guarantee it AAA, especially if the single player winds up sucking and having a pathetic storyline. There is more guarantee that Halo 3 will get an 8.5 then a 9 so you should stop trying to pretend it won't happen because the odds are much higher it will be AA.
I posted this in another thread but you can decide if its enough, though its not every feature but has a lot of main ones.
Forge: Allows you to modify the layout of the map and create a totally new gametype for multiplayer in a hands on experience.
Back to the after-dinner party.... While we were playing in random games with and against Bungie, Bakken was busy on his own Xbox 360, setting up Rocket Race for us on Sandtrap, a wide-open, vehicle-oriented stage set in the desert. The idea is this: There are five teams of two, where one teammate is a VIP that the other must escort to certain objective points to score. Everyone has rocket launchers, and we all spawn together, near a fleet of two-man Mongoose ATVs. Bakken pictured each team running to a Mongoose (which the VIP can't drive -- he can only be the passenger in back), taking off, and firing rockets at the other duos in an attempt to prevent them from scoring.
Only one problem. When 10 players spawn together with rocket launchers, they tend to fire first and look for rides later. It was a total mess for about five minutes: spawn, boom, spawn, boom...no one really made it to a Mongoose to play the mode properly, so no one scored. But the explosive chaos was still hilarious to witness and play. Bakken decided we needed some rocket resistance, so we restarted the match with 300 percent health. That worked...for a bit. While the players were able to live long enough to drive away in Mongooses (we decided "Mongeese" sounds too ridiculous), it only took the lead team less than a minute to hit all four checkpoints to win the game. Again, Bakken needed to adjust a few things. He went back into Forge and added several more scoring markers.
In the evening's final iteration of Rocket Race, we weren't dying 0.5 seconds after spawning in, and the dozen or so objective markers were spread throughout Sandtrap enough to make it anyone's game. Rockets flew, Mongooses flipped, last-moment scoring blocks happened at every stop...what started as a frantic mess of a mode turned into a frantic good time after a few tweaks in the Forge settings.
It was interesting to watch Bungie create and playtest a new mode right in front of us. Sometimes it worked, as the final version of Rocket Race showed, sometimes it didn't. Before we got to Rocket Race, Bungie had tried another variation of the Hamster Crack mode mentioned in the EGM cover story. That one, however, was a boring, 10-minute-long stalemate. Although we'll never see this mode in the final game, Bungie Content Editor Luke Smith did come up with a name for it: "Let's call this mode, 'Let's Never Play This Again.'"
Custom Games: This isnt new to Halo but they really overhauled it for Halo 3 and with this customization mixed with Forge you can bet theres going to be some kick ass game variants.
Here is a small chunk of what you can change in the game, for a full list from the beta go here (Theres even more in the final game like making your own power up.)
Player Speed
- Unchanged - This Trait is unchanged and may be inherited.
- 25%, 50%, 75%, 90% - The player moves at only that percentage of their normal speed.
- 100% - The player moves at normal speed.
- 110%, 125%, 150%, 200%, 300% - The player moves that percentage faster than normal.
Player Gravity
- Unchanged - This Trait is unchanged and may be inherited.
- 50%, 75% - Gravity is at that percentage, making the player lighter.
- 100% - Gravity affects the player normally.
- 150%, 200% - Gravity is at that percentage, making the player heavier.
Vehicle Use
- Unchanged - This Trait is unchanged and may be inherited.
- None - The player may not use any vehicles, even turrets.
- Passenger Only - The player may only ride in the passenger seat.
- Full Use - The player may use vehicles normally
Co-op in General: Not only can you now play online with 4 players but they have now added a meta game to add competition if you want it.
Meta game- With the meta game on you get points for killing the enemies, and you get extra points for killing them with st.yle So if you stick a enemy or snipe them in the head your going to get more points than just shooting them regularly. With this you can compete with your 3 friends online and try to see who can do the best in the campaign. So you can finally see who is actually doing all the work instead of going by word of mouth.
Saved Films: Allows you to save and replay videos of any game type.
With saved films you will now be able to look back at those moments during any game mode you play whether its the 4 player co-op or the online match match you just played. You can even go back and watch the campaign from your friends view or even the enemies if you want. This is something that I dont think any PC game has done, sure you got fraps but in fraps you cant rotate the camera and go view other parts of the game that your character didnt see. Which leads me to my next part.
File Sharing: File Sharing allows you to upload anything you have made or saved to Bnet for others to download and watch or play.
You had a great game online just a min ago? save it and upload it to Bnet and show it off to your friends.
Just made a new game variant in Forge? Save it and upload it to Bnet and let others enjoy it, hell maybe Bungie might like it and put it in their Bungie recommends and even into match making.
Got a screenshot you just took and want to make it your desktop background? Upload it to Bnet and it will be saved in a higher resolution and you can use it and show it off.
(Theres more to the file sharing too but you get the point.)
Anyway theres a quick rundown on some features that makes Halo 3 leaps beyond Halo 2. Im sure I missed a lot of features, but hopefully this is enough for you.
