HALO 3= TERRIBLE Single player... FANTASTIC Multiplayer.. Pure and simple

Now before I get started with this post let me say that Halo 3's multiplayer is FANTASTIC and a blast to play. There is nothing like playing a big team battle slayer match on my favorite map sandtrap while blasting enemies while driving the Chopper!! BUT the single player is very dull and boring in my opinion. The acting is boring and characters lack personality, Graphics are very dull and not good at all, The Teammate A.I is HORRIBLE. There are times I see the "Arbitar" just keep running into walls and get stuck there or he keeps getting shot at and just literally stands there for a few seconds, The music isnt as intense as i read in reviews (Nothing compared to Harry-Gregson williams musical scores) And last but not least it feels really last gen. I know everyone is getting tired of hearing this line but it really does feel like Halo 2.5

Now the multiplayer on the other hand is a totally different story, the multiplayer is no doubt the best console multiplayer out currently period! I can play hours on end Multiplayer and it never gets boring but sheesh, whats with the shotty single player!! Im almost starting to think that Bungie should have pulled a warhawk and made this game multiplayer only because the multiplayer is absoulty fantastic!!

Another wierd thing i noticed about Halo 3 is the Graphics actually look better while playing online as opposed to playing single player, Which is really odd because its normally the other way around. For instance, the map sand trap especially looks amazing the sand and the way the light reflects off the chopper while driving it but anyways, the bottom line is.. Halo 3's multiplayer is simply amazing.. Single player is a snoozefest oh and i forgot to mention.. Too much backtracking also

NO way, i barely had the patience to finish it on normal. Im just too addicted to multiplayer and honestly if it wasnt for the acheivements i wouldnt have even touched the single player.. Thats the only thing that kept me on the single player

well then your opinions were a bit biased to begin with, wouldn't you say? if anything, starting and playing through the campaign with heroic difficulty made me so much more attatched to halo 3.

Its just something about the single player that really doesnt draw me in. Its very slow starting, the acting is bad.. Lets take bioshock for example, that game started out with a bang and was awesome all the way thoroughout. Halo 3 starts off slow, stays slow for a little bit and picks up pace. I think the characters lack personality and the overall story lacks personality in my opinionMikeCOD80

Funny, I thought it was the reverse.

I got bored of the multiplayer quickly..I found myself playing the campaign on Legendary more.

(The gamertag in my sig is mine to my 360 I just got a few hours ago, my brother owns a 360 so thats how I played it)

single player is good fun. i can only find one or two faults with it:

the teammate AI is terrible, you're right

the graphics are alright, but not amazing like for example bioshock. those 2 games just seem in a completely different leuge graphicly

i get about 1 second of slowdown whenever is says "checkpoint... done"

I think the opposite actually, i've played more MP, but me and my bro beat it on legendary online (always start with the hardest difficulty), and comparativly, halo 3's SP is alot better and more exciting than many other FPS's SP.

On the other hand, it's MP, is kinda MEH, I'm still playing it.. but i'm already getting sick of it, while I'm still not sick of games that have been out for 1 year+ and i've played probably 100x longer than Halo 3's MP (gears, enemy territory, etc)

And before I get the typical Lem response of "Your just the suxorz at MP, or you'd lUV it" i'll say that i'm currently at skill 27 in lone wolves and still winning most of my matches, and about 17 (I think?)in team slayer (with random lower ones in the other ranked types).

Halo 3 has one of the best single players i've ever played so I dont know were you get the idea that its bad? The game was ment to be played on Heroic and if done so its amazing, easy and normal take a lot away from the game.

No it isn't alot of games the AI is not dumbed down what so ever.. They increase health pick ups, ammo pickups, guys do more damage while you do less etc etc.. That is 10 times easier to code then some how "gimp" enemy AI.

I found the single player to be fantastic.

There was a genuine abundance of moments of pure "awesomeness" that Halo 2 lacked. Some of the more spectacular fights in Halo 3 exceed even the best moments of Halo 1.

The graphics were superb throughout.

The enemy AI really stepped it up on legendary (anyone else think some of the regular brute chiefs were boss fights at some points in the SP? lol)

And the story both satisfied the vast majority of unanswered questions from the previous Halo games and provided some much needed closure.

Not to mention 4-player on-line co-op is a riot, :P

SO just because you die more its supposed to make the game better?The A.I. in gears is horrible I couldn't beat it on the hardest difficulty without playing with a friend. Voice acting in HALO is horrible.

Thats funny, i'd say it's not as bad as people say.

Just beat it in Legendary, great fun :D loved it. I must say playing on Heroic or legendary is just so much better than playing on Normal, it's like you don't experience the game properly. I also did a lot of things differently after my first play through and I think that went a long way to making it a better experience.

I really liked Halo 3's campaign. It was much more varied than Halo 2's and the story and ending were great. Also, co-op is a blast.

Has nothing to do with dying, u take ur time and dont rush through on the harder difficulties, which make you enjoy the game more...its not our fault u cant beat Gears...

I actually enjoy the smaller games of about 8, its really two different things, bigger battles are much more focused on vehicle warfare and completing a larger objective, where the smaller ones are more about tight battles.

Please, find me a cutscene from the Halo games where the voice acting "is horrible"

Pop the game in and choose for youself. OR maybe I played Bioshock before Halo and realized what good voice acting is.

It isn't terrible though it had some issues:

Dumbass friendly AI

Some bad textures and low res human faces

Horrible last "boss" battle

Anti-climactic battle outside the Prophet's crib (20 enemies and 2 easily killed Scarabs. That's the big battle?)

Inconsistent enemy AI

MP still has some issues to iron out

And that's about all my problems with it.

Even with those issues the SP is still a great deal of fun and is one of the best single player FPS experiences of the past few years.

I fail to see why having 16 players max is an issue. Halo combat is *designed* around 16 players max. The levels are. The strategy has always been. The weapons will always be.

20v20 zerg is just not the Halo style. Personally, I find the more players you toss into a game, the less strategy based it becomes. Having more players =! better multiplayer, and in the case of Halo - it would most definitely dumb down the multiplayer to a tactless mess of random people respawning 3 feet from eachother.

I bet half the people bashing the game haven't even played it.

And I think (most) of the other half made their mind up about the game long before it came out.
