[QUOTE="kankthetank"][QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"] [QUOTE="kankthetank"]This whole 'Master Chief is faceless', 'shouldn't remove his helmet because you're supposed to be him',is annoying me. We already know how he looks like. He's described several times in the novel as a kid and somewhat as he is now, and his name is frickin John....he's not you. We already know he's white, and very pale too due to him wearing his armor suit most of the time, tall, redhead with freckles...but obviously, after his years training in the spartan program and all the battles he fought, he's mostly a scarred mess now. So I find it hard to understand when some Halo fans say that they'll bemad if they reveal his face in the game?FrozenLiquid
If you read between the lines, it seems that Bungie were taken aback, and perhaps slightly annoyed at the fact that Eric Nylund described what Master Chief looks like.
And they still go by the fact that Master Chief will never show is face. Ever.
That already shows their stiffness against what Nylund did. Since the Fall of Reach, I don't think he's ever described Master Chief's features so elaborately.
??? Where did you get that? You know that Eric Nuyland frequently sits down with Bungie and they can edit or remove whatever they don't like. Any new info always has to pass through Bungie before it's official. Plus, they had to explain MC's background and how he became a Spartan; it'll be kinda hard to write a novel about someone without actually describing him.
Where did I get that? Firstly, it's right in the article in this thread. Marty O Donnell just mentioned, on behalf of Bungie what Master Chief would mean to their fanbase.
Second, Frankie O'Connor, one of the writers for Halo, had once mentioned in an interview about Nylund's description, but then also gave an alternative answer about why they never show Master Chief's face. I forgot the link, but clearly it means something to them.
Personally for me though, half the greatness of the Chief is wondering what he looks like under that mask. What was described in Nylund's novel was when he was 6. He's now in his late 40s. He would have changed drastically. Still, I disregard whatever Nylund wrote. Lol, when I think of Master Chief taking off his helmet, I picture another helmet under there :P. I joke.
Yeah, I know that's what they're sayingand that's for the sake of the game's immersion, and personally, I don't believe we will see his face in Halo 3 and it's fine by me. What I meant was that Bungie isn't against the description; just that they're not gonna show it in the games.
Oh, and yeah, he was actually described when he was old. When he was to attend a hearing about the Forerunner artifact he found with Blue Team in some planet (forgot the name), and Dr. Halsey saw him waiting when she came out; he was desribed there.
