Halo 3 Will NOT Last 2-3 years like Halo 2 did..

I dont know why people are saying Halo 3 will last 2,3 and even 4 years before it gets boring. This gen is a totally different ball game, the reason Halo 2 lasted so long because there wasnt really any other xbox multiplayer game that did multiplayer as good as Halo 2 did back in the day, Halo 2 was one of a kind back in the day but now compared to games like COD4,Warhawk, Gears Of War, Resistance, Unreal Tournament etc.. Halo 3 is just another run of the mill online FPS. Dont get me wrong I see it lasting a good while, but thinking it will have the same replay value for years and years like Halo 2 did is just plain naive..

There is +500000 players during a week day playing Halo 3 on Live, and +1000000 players on the weekends and growing.

It is the most played console online, its going to last a good 2-3 years.

Melee could last me a lifetime, it has way more replay value than any shooter around.

I think Brawl will be THE game for wii and a good reason to buy one even if it was the only reason so far (imo).

More people still play Halo 2 than play Warhawk.

If Halo 3 hadn't come out there'd still be more people playing Halo 2 than anything other than Gears. Halo 3 takes that throne back by a considerable margin and it isn't going anywhere.

It's not like Halo 2 didn't have competition from the likes of Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon, Unreal Championship and Call of Duty games back in the day.

The only thing that's changed anything significantly is the introduction of Gears of War, which finally managed to dethrone a LAST GEN game (just about). and now that Halo 3 has that lead back it's not going anywhere any time soon. The only mild potential for a dethroning is whenever Gears 2 comes around, which doesn't look like for a looooong time.

I agree. This time around Halo 3 has more competition.

It took until Battlefield 2 Modern Combat to come out did I quit playing Halo 2. Now CoD 4 comes out in only a few weeks and then other games with promising online are also on their way.

I hope bungie updates Halo 3 with added content more often. Luckly the added forge to Halo 3 to give it more life.

Be quiet Right Now. You don't know what you are talking about. The reason the Halo games last so long is not because of Competition, it has none anyways. Halo last so long because Bungie Has developed an awesome Matchmaking system, Partying system, and just an amazing easy to use online strategy. No other game has done this in three years, Halo is state of the art because of this, and Are you saying Warhawk is better online then Halo 3? HA HA, thats the statement of the year. There'll be more competition, I'll give you that, but better competition? I don't see it happening. Halo 2 had a 3 year run and not one game came along and outdid it's addictive matchmaking. The TC claimed that Halo 2's online was no longer state of the art, but failed to list even one game that has done it better since.

Where exactly in that review does it say Halo 2's online system has been surpassed? I challenge you to name one game that has outdone Halo 2's matchmaking and party system since it's release (other than Halo 3, of course).
