@delta3074: None of what you said is in fact correct what so ever. Doom is not meant to feel claustrophobic.. How do I know this? Because the originals, Doom 1, Doom 2 and final Doom had a multitude of large sprawling levels where you had to explore.... And the game was first and foremost a fast paced action shooter. You may claim to like Doom 3, and that's fine, but to say that it is closer to Doom is flat out wrong. Doom 3 is in fact the least Doom like of all the major releases of Doom...
And really your praising the flash light mechanic that every one HATED? Maybe you just don't like Doom games and that is why you like the least Doom like game of all in the series?
'Doom had a multitude of large sprawling levels where you had to explore..'
there is far more exploration in doom 3 than there is in doom 2016 so i don't see your point on that one, also, the Levels in doom 3 are actually Bigger than the ones in Doom 2016.In fact the offline campaign on Doom 3 is much longer than the Campaign in doom 2016.
'And really your praising the flash light mechanic that every one HATED?'
Speak for yourself i happen to love the tension the mechanic created having to constantly worry about whether to have your torch equipped or a weapon, i guess it must have made the game too hard for yah champ.
'Doom 3 is in fact the least Doom like of all the major releases of Doom...'
Yes Because a Game that basically takes multiplayer matches and joins them together with a couple of corridors and a teeny bit of exploration to make a Campaign is so close to what doom actually was to begin with right?
You stick to your preference and i will stick to mine, your difference in opinion has been noted.
@delta3074: Yet again not saying Doom 3 was a bad game. But it sure as hell wasn't much of a doom game. And no the flashlight was a chore for basically everyone, so much that they officially changed it in the bfg version. Not to mention extremely silly. Mankind has mastered space travel but their night vision and flashlight technology are hundreds of years behind... Makes sense..
Have you even played the game? Doom 3 was largely a linear narrow hallway game.... You even said saw your self with claustrophobic feeling... Doom 1, Doom 2 were m never like that.. Not to mention Doom 3 was a painfully slow game.. Doom 3 was a doom game in really name only.. It's much slower with less enemies, tries to do horror, and the majority of the levels are in incredibly small environments.... Doom 2016 is what Doom 3 should have been as a proper sequel to the series.
Doom for SP and Halo 5 for MP
That's the impression I've getting from people who've played the sp. Is it really that good?

So far it is that good....it's fast, frantic and fun. It seems like the biggest gripe is the executions but I like them...a few times I was about to die and luckily I was able to get some extra health from executions, they serve a purpose that way. Give it a shot!
@chikenfriedrice: honestly my only gripe with the game is it depends entirely too much on arena events where guys spawn right on top of you.

Yes....and it runs great, with a 970 I am running 60fps @ 1080P w/ ultra settings.

Cool I also have a 970. But I'll be at 1440p. Hopefully that doesn't mess things up.

it runs impressively well on a single 970 at 1440p. SLI isn't supported yet and neither is vulkan so i have to use a single card for now. 50-60 FPS all the time at max settings and SMAA, averages around 55ish

I am in a similar boat. I do 1440p for campaign and drop to 1080p for multiplayer
I'm not a Halo fan but damn, this is like the umpteenth time within the month that Halo have been compared to yet another game. It doesn't matter what genre too because fans will keep on bringing up Halo for comparison. That in itself is quite an achievement. Halo was born a beast and by the looks of it, it's still a beast and set some kind of standard since it's always brought up and compared to any and every thing.
@panda30: lol yeah I ain't surprised as well. IF we were to count the number of threads attacking Halo in the past 12 months, I think the results would be stagerring. Guaranteed most of the Xbox haters voted DOOM despite perhaps not even playing it lol. That's what happens when you're at the top though, you're targeted more often :)
There is nothing wrong about this thread though, I think this is a fine discussion to have. I can absolutely understand people prefering the new DOOM over Halo 5, it's a very different experince. It's certainly a more gruesome, darker game and plays very differently. Also of importance is the fact that it is a standalone title(DOOM), so people who never played DOOM can pick it up, while people who never played Halo may be offput by Halo 5 since it's part of an established series.
Even Doom 3 is better than DOOM. Halo 5, hands down.
i am gonna get flak but i agree, i love Doom but Doom 3 is the better game.
It's nothing to be ashamed of my friend, many people like it but are too scared to speak up for fear of reprisal.
"Fear of reprisal".....what are we in high school?
DOOM3 was alright, but like others said it relied on jump scares which got old after a short while.
Doom 2016 is a no nonsense pretty fast paced shooter with tons of action.
As for the topic....I'm more of a single player person, and since the final battle in Halo 5 is a cutscene....I'll go with Doom.

the vote it self its just an excuse to trash Halo ANY EXCLUSIVE vs Multiplat = multiplat wins
it be no difrence then Killzone vs Doom or conter strike vs Doom because its a 2:1 ratio this poll its pointless

Unfortunately, rather than objective criticism - looking at both the good and the bad, largely because it wasn't what was expected, as opposed to judged on it's own merits, a bullyish bandwagon has formed, many of which having never went back or even played the game above easy.
While it's true the jump scares are far too prevalent, hell in this, is significantly better than DOOMS, it's monster designs are better and it was a graphical powerhouse for it's day, still looking surprisingly good, while DOOM sits on "ok".
Interestingly, one of the key aspects of "survival horror" which games highly, universally praised absolutely fail at (Resident Evil 4/Dead Space) due to a barrage of resources and player upgrades, Doom 3 100% excels at. At no point on the higher difficulty is the large rolling around in resources or having an easy time - every turn is potential death.
Overall - a highly misjudged and underrated game, while this game appears to be getting somewhat overrated on the basis of being closer, than good.
AT THE MOMENT
31% halo
69% Doom
as to be expected why wold ps4/pc fans click halo 2/3 xbox fans 1/3 (I cud have told you the results from the start )
you'd get similar results saying Halo 5 or Bowel Cancer

Yeah nothing is wrong with that.. The only thing I am stating is Doom 3 was basically a Doom game in name only.. Doom 2016 really is the Doom 3 of the series.. It is a modernization of the original mechanics of the game, it also continues the story of the Doom Marine from the originals..

With a 290X at 1440p on Ultra I'm averaging about 50 FPS, so it's still completely acceptable, hope this gets Crossfire/SLI support.
Doom is everything I wanted Halo 5 to be.
Main character just throws stuff around. Ignores orders.
I didn't want to play in a american gladiator team of power rangers and play as locke
I wanted to be masterchief like the doom guy throwing computers against the wall.
Picking up big guns from dead weaklings around me.
DOOM IS EVERYTHING I WANTED HALO 5 TO BE.
I wanted to be a strong masterchief and walk around ships and throw things at people.

You don't play Doom marine in Doom 2016.
'
'In the reboot, the main character is the Doom Slayer, a legendary warrior and sole surviving member of an order of knights known as the Night Sentinels who were tasked with battling Hell. In the past, the Doom Slayer and his brothers-in-arms were the protectors of a land known as Argent D'nur, until a member of the Sentinels betrayed them in return for the demons reviving his dead son, who was brought back as the Icon of Sin, the final boss of Doom 2. Filled with rage, the Doom Slayer nearly tore all of Hell down, wearing a suit of enchanted power armor gifted to him by a demon who betrayed his kind. Eventually, the Doom Slayer was sealed away in an enchanted sarcophagus by the terrified remainder of Hell's inhabitants until he was rescued by UAC Mars Director Samuel Hayden, who kept him sealed in his private labs while they reverse-engineered his equipment.
The Doom Slayer, despite being the most brutal of the Doom protagonists by far, is also shown to be the most traditionally heroic; he is distrustful of Hayden due to his "ends justifying the means" philosophy and goes out of his way to show compassion to the sentient AI VEGA, copying him to a personal drive before destroying his main body. He also seeks to protect humanity from Hell at all costs, even destroying the very energy source which has ended Earth's energy crisis due to it being only obtainable via a portal to Argent D'nur, which is a realm in Hell overrun with demons.'

Doom for SP and Halo 5 for MP
This is most probably right but, since I dont give a rat's *ss about MP, DOOM it is for me
If I had to chose a MP game though, Titanfall 2, definitely
