The strange thing though is that Halo and Halo 2 ARE THE ONLY REASONS FOR XBOX SUCCESS.  Look at the chart.  Find the 3rd highest selling Xbox game.   Splinter Cell with 2.93 million.  :lol:

Halo and Halo 2 have TRIPLE THE SALES of its runner up Splinter Cell LOL! That is just absurd and kinda proves my point that a lot of lemmings only play Halo and Halo 2.  25% of all Xbox sales are because of Halo and Halo 2.  Yet, there are many games that have sold better on other systems.

Um. First of all, you're missing the point. Halo and Halo 2 might've been outsold by plenty of games, but they almost single-handedly created the Xbox brand name. Without those two games, Microsoft wouldn't have nearly the fanbase it does, and Xbox Live would never have gotten off the ground like it did (this is more thanks to Halo 2).

Also, how did you manage to use Gears of War's sales to knock Halo 3 and lemmings in general? If anything, this helps the case for Halo 3's success, as Gears was initially seen as just a hold-over till Halo 3 came out. There's clearly a huge market for the big name shooters, so I don't see any reason to think that Halo 3 won't destroy holiday sales for other games. Besides, if Gears brought more people to the 360, that's just more people who will consider buying Halo 3, especially the ones who want another game to play with everyone else on Xbox Live.

Finally, I'd like to note that you listed some of the most popular games of all time in your list of games that outsold Halo. Your point? Seriously, tetris? The damn game came with the original Gameboy! Super Mario World? CAME withe SNES! Ocarina of Time is thought by many to be the best game (or at least the best Zelda game) ever. I seriously doubt Bungie is embarrassed that they couldn't outsell said games. And Nintendogs? There are four versions of that game, and it was one of the first really big games for the DS, which has what, 40+ million sold? Let's see, which game appeals to a wider base: One about dogs, or an FPS? Yeah, I can see my sister and my mom, and the world's 5 year olds going for Halo. For God's sake, the Japanese don't even really play FPS games! Anyway, this was just a long-winded way of saying this thread has no point. I'm sorry you don't like Halo, but it sells really, really well. And when Halo 3 comes out, you'll only have your own post on this thread to keep you warm at night...

Super Smash Bros. Melee has beaten Halo in sales... :lol: at every lemming who made fun of that game....and :lol: that a game on a console with worse sales than Xbox still manages to outsell Halo!

Brain Training for DS has beaten Halo in sales :lol:

You get the idea.  Halo 2 sold over 2 million overnight.  But it took almost 3 years to sell 5 million more.  Halo's popularity is grossly exaggerated and overrated.  GeOW has already sold 3.98 million in 6 months.  It is catching up to your precious Halo lemmings!  Like it or not, GeOW is going to become as popular with lemmings as Halo is. 

So, do lemmings still think Halo 3 will obliterate other software sales this holiday?  Most Mario platformers (except SMS) outsold Halo and Halo 2.  Who says Super Mario Galaxy won't outsell Halo 3?  Wii is going to surpass 360 sales by August or September and have a bigger fanbase.

:lol: Wow!  Halo and Halo 2 didn't sell nearly as much as I thought.  

Halo - 6.43 million

Halo 2 - 7.89 million

Nintendogs - 13.58 million :lol:

The strange thing though is that Halo and Halo 2 ARE THE ONLY REASONS FOR XBOX SUCCESS.  Look at the chart.  Find the 3rd highest selling Xbox game.   Splinter Cell with 2.93 million.  :lol:

Halo and Halo 2 have TRIPLE THE SALES of its runner up Splinter Cell LOL! That is just absurd and kinda proves my point that a lot of lemmings only play Halo and Halo 2.  25% of all Xbox sales are because of Halo and Halo 2.  Yet, there are many games that have sold better on other systems. 

Halo 2 is in 31st place in worldwide sales...It's not even in the top 30 :lol: 

Halo 1 is in 49th place in worldwide sales.

PS2 has like 120million users base and all the Final fantasy combined sold like 18 million copies mGS3 sold like 4million

xbox has an install base like 25million halo and halo sold like 14 million games. Half the people that owned xbox bought halo that is alot more impressive

FF is playstation most popular games it doesn't sell that much for what user base ps2 has.

It's an interpretation of facts and those facts also show that last generation there was only 4 games series with games that had higher sales then Halo (GTA, GT, Need for Speed and Final Fantasy) and all of these games were on a platform that sold 4 times as many units as the Xbox (PS2) and in some cases many other platforms too. Halo 2 outsold MGS 2 and almost sold twice as many copies as MGS 3, which was released at the same time as Halo 2. If Halo isn't a big series then the MGS series certainly isn't and the same would go for the majority of series people consider big.

Halo 2 sold 2.5 million copies in 24 hours, thats 125 millions dollars in revenue. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is still the record - it even beat out Spider Man 2.Stevo_the_gamer

 I think that record was beaten by (ugh) one of the last couple Harry Potter books, but yeah, it's at least 2nd place, and either way, an amazing number.

On June 20, 2006, Xbox.com reported that more than a half-billion games of Halo 2 have been played on Xbox Live since its debut; it also reported that 9.2 million units of Halo 2 have been sold worldwide.
