Yes, but the level of competition is higher in CS which makes it harder in reality. People have been playing it forever so they're insanely good at it, and there's nothing to even things up for newcomers.ManicAce

And that is the great thing about it. There is nothing to "even" it up. Everyone has the same guns and abilities. Your ability to play the game is what is going to determine how good you are.

I think the only unfortunate thing about CS and CS:S is that they are basically the same game. It has had pretty much the same weapons and maps for over 10 years. It just needs to have updated content to get more interest in it again (that means new maps and weapons of the same quality as the originals). I've played CSS for probably over 2000 hours and I just got kind of tired of the same maps and weapons over and over and over again.

I've found plenty of creative user made maps around CS 1.6, so much that i've never ben tired in that way. It's true that the original maps are more in the limelight, but many user made maps are also pretty popular.

You're right about the weapons, it would be incredibly cool if one day Valve applies a patch to both CS 1.6 & CSS containing a massive amount of new weapons to choose from.
