Halo: Combat Evolved remake coming this holiday

I just posted in the other thread, but I guess I'll repeat myself (especially since several others have already done the same):

If this remake doesn't come with 4-player online coop, (at least) 12-player online matchmaking, all the original single player shortcuts, all the button combos, and fall damage, I probably won't waste my time.

How can aiming get any easier than auto-aim that every Halo has? They probably just felt the awesomeness that is Keyboard/Mouse controls.

Halo Custom Edition is awesome dude.

Even if the PC doesn't get a souped up version, it still has the Mods.

Complete re-make with online integration? That's better than the usual Sony route of just simple porting with updated resolution and trophies.Stevo_the_gamer

For what it's worth, the PC versions of both Halo CE and Halo 2 still have a sizeable online following. Halo 2 even has Live integration.

Halo PC lag is ridiculous. You have to lead your shot by like a mile.

Nobody plays Halo 2 Vista anymore either. There were only about 3 games when I played it during the Summer. One was a 32 player FFA, the other was a 4v4 SWAT with atrocious spawns (got 3 killionaires back-to-back-to-back) and a Covy Flag played on some map I can't even remember. It was really boring since every Covenant weapon sucked in H2 besides the Plasma Pistol, by itself it sucked but if you had it with a BR it was godly.

It seems a moot point though to argue that the amount of effort going into 360 remakes is more than the amount going into PS3 remakes. :P

Kind of want, I can see this going horribly wrong though.

Bungie has been making halo remakes the entire time. See Halo 2, 3, ODST, reach etc. This should not be surprising. And knowing bungie, they'd still be using the same engine :lol:

Joystiq has learned that the previously rumored remake of Halo: Combat Evolved will indeed launch this holiday season for Xbox 360 with a full visual overhaul. Sources explain that the re-release is not Bungie's 2001 Xbox game simply running at a higher resolution -- it's being remade with new art assets. While Halo's audio will likely remain unaltered, the controls will allow for more recent Halo configurations.

The Halo: Combat Evolved remake is allegedly being developed by New Jersey-based Saber Interactive, the company behind Timeshift and Namco's upcoming Inversion, but we've been unable to confirm the nature of the engine powering it. We understand that it's something other than the Reach engine.

The Halo: Combat Evolved update, one of two Halo games currently in development under the watchful eye of 343 Industries, is expected to support 1080p resolution and 3D televisions. Details on multiplayer are supposedly still being worked out, but we understand the remake will likely feature online co-op (the original game supported two-player split-screen co-op).

The game is expected to re-evolve on November 15, 2011, ten years after Halo: Combat Evolved launched alongside the Xbox. Our sources didn't know of any plans to similarly upgrade the recently disconnected Halo 2, but it's hard to imagine Microsoft playing favorites with its biggest franchise.
