Japanese game designers are usually sexually immature. Western culture is typically prudish. Mix sexual immaturity with sexual prudes and you'll never get the right combination between the two.

Well... he's right. I like the female body as much as the next guy, but there's a time and a place to be dressed like that. Her situation, I assume, is not one of them. Hence it stands out as being ridiculous.

You know there are 'go to insults' that work to discredit people rather than the merit of their works. These insults are so condemning that the people targeted by them inevitably get drawn into a game of intellectual denial to protect themselves. The biggest problem with this is that in the end nothing really ever gets done (I'll leave the debate of whether anything should be done for another time).

Simply put, can't win an argument on the internet? Don't like something? Fling 'insert condemnation here' at the other person and walk off self-assured in your moral superiority (you may high-five the person closest to you). Don't let the fact that you've closed any room for constructive debate bother you; as long as you feel good about it who gives a ****?

Writing is just important as design. Cortana being based on Nefertiti (as a lot of other AI are based on mythological goddesses, at least in the novels) is meant to allegorize her wisdom, importance, and role in the narrative. In ancient art, nudity is meant to embody the pureness of the human figure (you'll see well-endowed women meant to celebrate fertility and whatnot). 

Cortana isn't a human, and if the Ancient Egyptians viewed their Pharaohs so highly, then she is more akin to a goddess. Especially with her almost omniscient power and "perfect" human form. I personally think her desire for a human form later fuels the man vs machine motif in Halo 4, where she is the Master Chief's humanity and soul, but that's another discussion.

I don't really want to knock Kojima because I'm interested in where MGS V is going, but based on photos... Quiet is pretty much decked out in fetish wear. I love me some fetish wear, but nobody should take offense if someone calls it as they see it. Her clothing is meant to inspire male gaze and really nothing more. She's going to be in the sandiest, hottest place and she wants to wear a full-length latex glove (for no reason), torn stockings, and a bikini (sunburn is no joke), and we're supposed to take her seriously? Okay.

It's called "Fan Service" and Cortana is a naked woman wearing purple paint, so they know something about it already.

I'm criticizing the female character designs too - they're wearing too much clothing IMO.
