and the PS2 library totally obliterated the X-box so it really isnt a fair comparison when you ask people what the flagship game for x-box is majority of people will say halo, but when you ask for playstation you will get a FF here an MGS there, the GT franchise, now GOW, so Halo is a popular franchise no doubt but the numbers can be viewed in 2 different perspectives, granted I didnt account the 120 million PS2's out there that you also have to take into consideration compared to 20 mil x-box's

American Idol fanbase trumps all of those numbers.

So this can only mean that American Idol > Halo & MGS

seeing as there are only 2 halo games i figured id pair them against the console sellers not the games spinnoffs, and quiets interesting results wouldnt u say, seeing as how every statement i made in my original post is true, whether or not ur mind can comprehend whats going on or not is your own problem.

Not meaning to support the TC fanboy, but from the chart it actually does show that the sales went down from MGS to MGS2. Bear in mind that in the chart, MGS2 is above MGS1.

MGS1 = 0.70 + 2.81 = 3.51

Allow me to explain it more for you. You used total sales numbers of games released almost up to 10 years ago as a way to determine todays fanbase. Someone who bought MGS back in 1998 might not be a fan on the series now. Someone who bought Halo 2 at launch might hate Halo now. and who says that someone can't be a Halo fan and a MGS fan, and buy both games? 11.2 million Halo games sold anywhere between yesterday and three years ago doesn't equal 11.2 million fans today.

Very good point. I see myself as a MGS and Halo fan, but I don't own MGS1 or Halo CE for the PS and Xbox (I own them for the PC). So the charts are skewed. Past data does not indicate future sales. We can be sure that Halo 3 will sell well based on pre-orders, but it doesn't indicate that any of the fanbase from Halo 1 or 2 will be buying it. They could be new fans, and old fans could choose not to buy it.

And please TC, don't try and pretend you are anything but fanboy. I don't care what systems you own or owned, the way you are arguing in this very thread about MGS2 being HORRIBLE in terms of sales (which it most certainly isn't, and sold better than MGS1) is enough to tell me that you are a fanboy. Or at least, anti-MGS. You can say you bought all known renditions of MGS all you want, you're still a fanboy/fakeboy.

Not to mention it's fairly common knowledge that MGS 2 sold ALOT (over 7 million) of copies ( I remember when that and gt3 came out around the same time, it was f'in huge)

GTA 3, VC, and SA each sold around 13 million.

Gran turismo 3 sold around 12-13 million

Super Mario Bros.? 40 million (not including DS port)

But again, game sales does not equal the quality or greatness within the game itself. Madden sells more than Halo, yet its a piece of crap lately.

Anyways, the reason WHY halo has sold more than MGS, is because PS owners had more than just 1-2 games to play on their system. When Halo and Halo 2 were released, honestly...how many major franchises did the Xbox have at the moment? How many mjaor franchises did the PS1 and PS2 had at the moment of MGS games releases? Those are the major factors.
