Halo is the greatest Console FPS series ever.

Just understand that it sells so well and gets reviewed so greatly for a reason, haters...

Its SinglePlayer Campaign isso damn epic. With levels like "Silent Cartographer", "Assault On The Control Room", "Outskirts", "Metropolis", "The Ark" and "The Covenant", it is hard to conclude anything else. I'm really in no postion to compare it to games like Half-Life, as I haven't played them, but for Console FPS, Halo SP is utterly unrivaled. Bungie certainly knows what the hell they are doing.

Then comes the Multiplayer component. An unexpected hit in Halo: Combat Evolved, that game was played via LAN parties for as long as 5+ years by many people. All of a sudden Halo 2 came along, and it rivaled many PC shooters because of its superb matchmaking and deep custom game options. Finally with Halo 3, multiplayer is a phenominon. It has the Forge, improved matchmaking (something Hermits don't even have), the same deep custom game options, and a simple to use file share all in the same package. Halo 3 MP is god. God I tell you.

So we can all conclude that on a console, the Halo series is virtually unrivaled. Nothing comes close. Not Resistance, not Gears Of War, not Warhawk - nothing. Halo is winnar.

Cortana is not nearly as bad as everyone thinks it is, actually I find it to be a brilliant change of pace and level design.

The only thing that I hated about that level were the Pure Shooting Forms. Those were the most annoying things I've ever had to fight in a videogame. Moreso than Cliff Racers in Morrowind. And those things were REALLY annoying.

Those bastards, I hated them. I disagree though, it was a poorly designed level and for lack of a better phrase it was 'cut-and-paste' design. Not to mention that the flood are the worse enemy in the whole game with absolutely no character other than brute force, it's easy to see why many people hated it especially on heroic/legendary.

Oh how i agree. Flood which SHOOT you from afar? What the fudge bungie? And they can take an entire clip of carbine? The only way i could kill them was to get a stick with a spike/plasma/fire grenade.

Personally i still think Gears is a beter game than Halo 3. I just think its designed alot beter, its more original and is generally more fun in my opinion. Then again gears isnt an FPS, but you did say that halo was beter than it. Games like Bioshock and Gears offer a beter single player experince in my opinion. Though to be honest for thosse of you who say "PC FPSgaming is a million times beter than console FPSgaming" let me point something out. Nearly every FPS that was released on the PC that was worth anything has been released on the consoles, and PC FPS exclusives are almost history. Dont belive me? Ok then what about: Half Life 2 thats considered one of the best FPS games of all time and now its available on 360 and PS3, Far Cry, though it is aless superior version to its PC predasecor (but not that much),is avialable on Xbox 360 (and i have played through both), COD 2 was released on 360 and numerous other titles have been released on the consoles, orignially exclusiveto the PC.

Now obviously games like System Shock arnt available on the consoles, but for obvious reasons. I mean what do most PC gamers consider the best PC FPS of all time. I bet a large portion of them will either mention the ones ive mentioned, or a game that is now outdated.

Hmm, Gears seems more focused than Halo 3. I will say that. But the great gameplay is fatally flawed by a lack of features. SP and close minded MP. Woohoo. Now I'm done. Then with Halo 3, SP and MP, then with inspired custom games and forge and saved replays and B.net integration, WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Quake 2, Quake 3, Tribes 2, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Half Life, Halflife 2, UT2004, Battlefield series, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Aliens vs Predetor 2, Countr Strike (1.6 / source), COD series (better supported on the PC)... there are a flood of them

I'm playing through half life 2 on the orange box right now, it's not halo, I don't know if something got lost in translation, but it's good, it's not amazing.

Are you sure about that? It was a huge hit demolishing the online play of all other online console game, but it didn't rival any of the heavy weight non-MMO online games on the PC.

And something hermits/pc gamers don't really want either. Most of us like standard dedicated servers and prefer the fact we have more choice on where we go.

But yer Halo 3 is a good game and Halo is the biggest current franchise on consoles.

But in the case of Quake its really a relic. The latest version is available on Xbox 360 now so its not exactly exclusive, oh and Quake 3 came as an extra with Quake 4 in something ( though i cant confirm that, i did see achivements for it though). Tribes again is outdated. Dues Ex not so much, but still a little to old. System Shock 2, well its outdated considering Bioshock is out. Half life is available on PS2. Half life 2 is available on numerous platforms. Unreal Tournament will be outdated when the latest version is released, which is coming to 360 and PS3 aswell as PC. Ill give you battlefeild becuase its suposed to be alot beter on PC. Return to castle wolfenstein was available on the original xbox. Alien vs Predator 2? Cant say ive really heard much about that. Counter Strike is another one youll need a PC for if you really want to take advantage of it, but there are some versions available for the original Xbox, and its starting to show its age (to be honest im not a big CS fan i played it for a little while but got pretty bored fast). I find it hard to say that the COD series is beter suported on the PC when d/w content was made available for the 360 version of COD 2, and COD 3 never really came to PC, infact id say that COD is becoming more console based. There really arnt many games left exclusive to the PC, and thosse that are tend to be no longer relevant in the curent generation.

Of course it works both ways as most 360 games are ported to PC, or the other way around now. There still are advantages to PC gaming, espically if your into the whole moding thing. The forge dosnt really compare to some of the more advanced level editors out there (though its still pretty fun). Also you dont need to pay for online, and your getting a great service for nothing, espically if you dont like voice chat (like me). And then theres one of my fav games that no one really mentions. MoH: AA , that game really got me into online gaming and i still havnt really had as much enjoyment with any other online games.

Why do people keep saying Halo 3 is the most godliest console shooter ever created? It's overhyped, overrated, and it feels like an expansion pack to Halo 2. The beginning of the singleplayer campaign starts off from the middle of nowhere- people who haven't played Halo 2 will immediately wonder what is happening and why. The multiplayer is the meatiest part of Halo, however, but they truly haven't done much with it...the maps aren't very good and once you're done messing around with Forge and Custom Games, it's just Halo 2 all over again. For those who want to call me a "fakeboy", I bought Halo 3 on day 1, expecting a great game.HyperMetaDragon
