Halo overrated?

I was just wondering if you guys think halo is an overrated series.

My friend thinks it isn't, but I disagree, People think this game is the best, but Pc gamers have been playing better games for years.

So do guys think halo is an overrated series?

Saying Halo is over-rated must mean you're a Sony or Nintendo fan-boy. Or it's just that you're too stupid to actually play the game for more than 2 mins on multiplayer. And considering overrated, I think WoW sucks. How can it get a 9.5?Ps2stony

It's a matter of personal opinion.

I think FF7 was an average game and it just gave an excuse for fangirls to write Yaoi fanfiction about Cloud and Sephiroth, whereas FF8 had a beautiful story and soundtrack.

Why care what other people think of the game you own? As long as you enjoy it it doesn't matter.

It's been argued that PC gamers have been playing better games for years. And I agree. But to put it shortly, there's simply way too much Halo bashing on System Wars. It's almost as if appreciating it in the slightest is the unpopular opinion. Halo's a legitimately great console FPS, and its praising:bashing ratio should legitimately be fairly heavily leaning towards the former. After all, Halo's very critically acclaimed. But there is simply no other game on SW that has this ratio reversed (even more so for Halo 2). People spout nonsense about how Halo's constantly proclaimed as godly. What I see are a much higher number of people accusing people of calling it perfect than people actually calling it perfect. The accusers outnumber the accused.

no game is over rated. when ever someone says a game is over rated all i hear is "I think you are having too much fun with that game, I didn't like it so you shouldn't either"TheBigDrat

It's a tricky question. Halo as an actual mechanical game is overrated. It's a good FPS, but nothing that couldn't be/hasn't been done before on other platforms. It's good, not unreal.

On the other hand, the experience Halo offers is not overrated. The multiplayer system is always fantastic, and so many people are into the game, you can usually get a multiplayer or online experience that most other games can't match.

I think WoW sucks too. Its designed to kill your time and not reward you for it. It's ugly, and it takes years for them to fix PvP when guild wars has no subscription, a much laxer system, better PvP, and it's prettier.

On the other hand, if you dismiss everyone who thinks a ridiculously hyped game is overrated, you must be a fanboy yourself. Games on the level of Halo's hype can EASILY be considered overrated. Why? Because it's not too difficult to find a less hyped game that's better in many people's eye's.

Yes the Halo series is pretty overrated. The multiplayer is fun, but compared to the variety of FPS multiplayer games on PC, it's a polished, but generic strafe shooter, and certainly nothing to write home about. As for the single player, Halo is pretty good, but again, there are quite a few PC shooters that can beat it out.

Edit: I'm sorry, I think it's over rated when people say "Halo is the best FPS ever!!!!" But it certainly is the best console FPS i've played...though I haven't played one since Halo 2...

Of all the games talke about on system wars the most overrated game is Killzone 2. Since Halo has gotten AAA twice now there is no way to call it over rated.

Tons of people can;t wait to "finish the fight" in Halo 3. The single player is still a major part of Halo 2, even if the MP overshadowed it.

I liked halo (the first fps i ever liked, although setting the bar a bit low) because its simple, easy to pick up and hard to put down, also elites are the coolest aliens ever :P

You could say its overrated but as long as millions still love and play it, no one gives a rats ass if it is

You are right. The single player takes about 6 hours and then you play about 2-4 hours of multiplayer. After that, you never want to play the game again...at least my experience.

I've played Halo for hours. However, it is definately over-rated. There is nothing new or special about it, but it does do everything that's already been done, very well.

Halo has been a thorn in sony fans sides since it came out and i dont understand why.Since ive been coming on the gamespot forums ive probably seen at least a thousand is halo overated threads.Personally its my favorite series and i love my xbox yet im not this loyal microsoft nut that only purchases xbox titles,i also own sony and nintendo products.I just dont understand these uber sony fans and there seems to be alot on this site as far as posters go.Jesus people if u dont like halo then dont worry so much about it,its just a game.Meanwhile let the fans enjoy the games they like to play and u live your life.
