Personally, I think Bungie is epic, so whatever they make I'll support :) enjoi

If all that is true (I believe it is...), I can't wait! :) If this game holds the same importance as "Halo 4" then it's a must buy for me. Besides, mostly everything that Bungie has released are solid, so I would be picking this game up regardless lol.
"New graphic engine!" I'm glad it isn't running on the Halo 3 engine :PaaronmullanDidn't like the lack of AA? :P The lighting and textures were fantastic. A lot of things about Halo 3's graphics were amazing, and a lot of things were also very bad. Pity. :(

if its based on the books, then ill have something to look forward to Dante2710You and me both. I was hoping for a movie, but this is just as good -- if not, better! :D

Hmm, interesting. I don't like how they are focusing more on MP then SP. Unless they mean Co-op, then I'll be happy.
But, nothing is official... So, take away what you will. Just hope the graphics engine part is 100% true.
what's wrong with that? anyway, the info sounds good, if it looks like it really WILL be different from halo 3, i'm excited given that i didnt really like halo 3.Sounded great until I read that it was more focused on multiplayer than Halo 3. :(

The only thing I dislike about this is that it's another FPS. Bungie, please don't pigeon-hole yourself.
Apart from that, it sounds pretty intriguing.

A lot of those ground and wall textures were at a 2048x2048 resolution, which surpasses 90% of other console games. Maybe you didn't like the art direction, which admittedly has simple geometry like last generation.

It didn't hinder my experience while playing the game, I'm just saying that it is about time it needs to be on a new engine :P I have a blast with Halo 3 online and off :D[QUOTE="organic_machine"]what's wrong with that? anyway, the info sounds good, if it looks like it really WILL be different from halo 3, i'm excited given that i didnt really like halo 3.Sounded great until I read that it was more focused on multiplayer than Halo 3. :(
scratch-o-hey
Well, I think singleplayer is more important than multiplayer. And, while IMO Halo 3's multiplayer was one of the best so far this gen, I felt that its singleplayer was severely lacking in quality. This is a trend I see beginning to develop in the FPS industry and I don't like it very much.
The only thing I dislike about this is that it's another FPS. Bungie, please don't pigeon-hole yourself.FrozenLiquidWhat do you want, a FPS/RPG hybrid halo game?
A Darker Halo? Yes please!
Though I can't trust the source, and more multiplayer focus makes me  .
Sorry it's a prequel. The battle of Reach when the Covenant first attacked I believe.I hope it continues Master Chiefs story after the ending of Halo 3.

Can't wait.
"Darker Halo". Hmm.. That would be cool, but I've always liked the colorfulness of the Halo games!

I agree. I hope they don't mean "darker" is in switching the colorfulness with gritty and dark colors. That's one of the things I like about Halo; it's art-style is beatiful and unique. But then again, it could need a change after 3 games.
Me too! The color doesn't bother me though. It's the way characters, enemies, and animations comes across some times. Ever since Halo CE it has been borderline goofy in ways. I hope they keep the color... just keep the dark undertones that CE had (and the books) and add some grit! And I think they are aiming for that with a new graphics engine. Can't wait.

Yerp. Back to the Mark V! :D
[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]The only thing I dislike about this is that it's another FPS. Bungie, please don't pigeon-hole yourself.VandalvideoWhat do you want, a FPS/RPG hybrid halo game?
I actually dislike FPSs. Halo was what pulled me in, and Halo 3 is what yanked me out. In between those six years, I heavily invested in playing FPSs since that's what all my friends and all the internet seemed to be doing. But it's come to an end, and I'm back to my old pre-2001 self.
I guess Bungie seem to be at home doing FPSs, but they've proven that they can do other things as well. I mean, they made an award winning PC strategy game. They also made a really solid attempt at a third person action game, with a critically lauded gun-fu combat system that predated Enter the Matrix by two years.
I thought that if they went independent they could flex their creative muscle a bit more; a RTS, RPG, or even the Greatest Genre Ever Created: an adventure game. I also was really rooting for a brand new IP, not another Halo game.
Word on the street says that they've got a third game they have not revealed to the public yet. Here's hoping that it is that game.

Yeah! Halo lost some of its gritty feel in Halo 2 and 3, but ODST looks like it's going to bring back some of that dark, war-like look/feel.

I understand where you are coming from. I'm anticipating Reach mostly because they will change things up from the old Halo formula (and hopefully take the sty|e back to it's roots). That being said, one can only imagine how INCREDIBLE a Bungie action orientated RPG/FPS with adventure elements would be :(. HINT: GOTG :P
Maybe one day.

The Covenant attacked places way before that. Attacking Reach was just the beginning of the end. Reach is basically the United States of the 21st Century: if a terrorist strike wiped out all of the States, what hope does the rest of the world have?

Looking at the E3 '09 trailer for ODST, it looks like Bungie really brushed up the animation, or, they decided to stop with 100% hand-drawn animations and use motion capture. Sometimes though, I feel mo-cap is like the auto-tune of music: it looks slick, polished, but ultimately forgettable.

Halo has always had fluffy bunnies and coloured rainbows. Halo 3 was the one that took out the fluffy bunnies, though.

If this was late 2004, I would be with you completely, but ever since Halo 3 I can't help but distrust them. I have a hunch on a squad based SP campaign.what's wrong with that? anyway, the info sounds good, if it looks like it really WILL be different from halo 3, i'm excited given that i didnt really like halo 3. scratch-o-heyBecause Halo3's sp was absolute balls. Telling me that your're going to focus even less on sp in the next game is very bad news indeed.
Sig = tight. I think this sp campaign will be squad-based. I really hope there is a covenant/elite side to the campaign.Sounds very promising. I wonder how "different" the game will be.

Halo 3 had fluffy bunnies with cream, chocolate sprinkles and cherries on top... not that there's anything wrong with that!

That's why I'm intrigued about Reach too since it's not going to be using the same old Halo formula.
Whatever new IP and genre Bungie does next, I hope they are the forefront of the movement. Back in the day, they, along with id Software and Raven Software, pushed the FPS genre. In 1997, they created the Myth RTT series, and established a RTS sub-genre which the Total War series owes its critical success to. And of course, they did their thing last-gen. Where Sony and Nintendo were happily putting forth many action-adventure platformers that enjoyed immense success in the previous generation, Bungie showed them how you make a console debut success by bucking the trend. Subsequently, we've had too many console FPSs to count lol. I also feel because of Bungie, Epic, Infinity Ward, Crytek and other PC devs have made an attempt at bringing a PC-esque experience to consoles.

ODST is supposed to be doing that.
"New graphic engine!" I'm glad it isn't running on the Halo 3 engine :PaaronmullanIf true then same.
I'm not exactly ecstatic about the whole "more multiplayer focused than previous Halo games" bit (seriously, how more multiplayer oriented can the Halo series get? :?) but everything else sounds great. I can't wait until the first big reveal of the gameplay to see if everything comes together as I hope it does.
