I hope the darkness doesn't mean shifting to all shades of gray/black/brown. Honestly, that's one thing that makes Halo good, it's color scheme. I know some may frown upon me for saying this, but it's like the Final Fantasy of FPS games with its colors. Rarely do you ever see designs in the alien structures that show a bit of sohphistication, and even the human/Earth level designs gave off that sort of feel to me.

Hey Bungie, here's some of my sound advice. Learn to make something that isn't Halo. Why not go back to marathon story? Stop making prequels, stop making stories from different points of view, I want something new, something fresh. Stop milking the same old franchise.luigigreen
Of course Bungie will do this to make a quick buck but at the sametime still support the Halo fans but I don't think it was their idea to make this game (Looks at Microsoft.) Though this is just another Halo game, it is also a potential AAA game to add onto the collection of an AAA franchise. And this is a snack I will not cast away, because I love the taste :)

Lol, seriously. Marathon and Halo share such a similar story, it makes people believe that the two are linked in some way.

Halo: The only game where you can feel like a bad*** while weilding a purple gun that shoots pink exploding sprinkles. :P

Anyway I will take that news with a grain of salt because it isn't offical, and I don't know how Bungie could really focus on mutliplayer any more than they already do, I mean they give their games a 100% focus on Single Player a and 100% focus on Multiplayer to make a 200% kick*** video game.

Well, it couldn't be Microsoft's fault could it? Back in 07, Bungie basically bought their independence back from MS so that they could be free to work on games of their choosing.

I dunno. Maybe Bungie wasn't as finished with the Halo franchise as they led on.

It is. In fact, it's as different (or as similar, however you view it) as the difference (or similarity) between Pan's Labyrinth and the Devil's Backbone, both awesome spiritual twin movies by Guillermo del Toro.

I don't care if it would be FPS or RPG, as long as it's not Halo. Write another story, something different, not sci fi, anything.

What if it was an adventure game based on a grunt trying to take on the shackles of Covenant society?

This is a FORUM POST, that's not news...

In fact, the FORUM POST is from a guy who knows some Italian guys who talked to some rep at E3...couldn't be more of a grapevine, AT ALL.

Meanwhile, YOUR TOPIC is ENTIRELY MISLEADING.

Admit it, your TOPIC is just a way to get people posting about HALO REACH years in advance, to get the hype level up, and this isn't the only forum you willl drop this info, right?

Squall18, you have A LOT of info about Xbox forum posts owned by M$...cool.

Where can I get a job posting links, because, I'm good at that. PM me with a way to get that job, I'm so down. :)

Not even, I'm sick of the Halo story. There's only so much Halo story you can handle, IMO. They finished it up in the 3rd one. I don't want prequels, or side stories, give me something completely fresh.

That's where we differ. I mean, Infinity Ward have made Call of Duty games that are about different wars and different stories. In fact, while one is authentic, realistic World War 2 awesomeness, the other is a Michael Bay action movie. They both feel almost exactly the same.

Nintendo, on the other hand, have used Mario in only around two million games, and of those one million that are platforming (and saving Peach time and time again), they're able to craft an experience so unique in each game that it can rival the difference between Naughty Dog's Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter series. Again, they do the same with the Metroid series, where Prime and Other M use the same universe in a completely different gameplay premise.

Just to clarify, would you like Bungie to pull an Infinity Ward rather than a Nintendo? To pull an Infinity Ward, they create a totally different story, but chuck Halo's mechanics right on top of it. To pull a Nintendo, they need not create another universe, but just change the gameplay premise to something totally different and unique because well, y'know, they are making a game.

In the best case scenario they would do both, but I'm just clarifying your position. It's interesting to see what people value in their games.

No but I mean, the thought of making Halo: Reach probably came from MS, so they might've asked Bungie to make it...Though in the end, its a win for Halo fanatics and gamers.

Nobody knows for sure, but Bungie will make Halo just like Kojima will make Metal Gear Solid, both said they were done, but more games keep popping up, becuase they are great games, sell well and have a fanbase that loves them and I have a feel the developers do as well.

I love Nintendo and the work they do with Mario and Zelda, but the reason you play those games is because the story is simple, but the gameplay is always so fantastic. I feel like Bungie had a story, more complex then anything Nintendo has had, and finished it. But now, their going back and giving us prequels and side stories, instead of creating something new, story and gameplay wise. I'd like them to create something new, gameplay and story wise. It's getting frustrating considering it's their only franchise, and they refuse to make anything new.

I know where you're coming from and to be honest I agree. We've been getting Halo for the past nine years straight, and it's about time it's been shelved at least until next generation or so.

At the same time, I don't want Bungie to create another FPS, at least for a very long time. They're very talented at creating something that's not a FPS, and so I hope that Halo: Reach is the absolutely last FPS they're doing for awhile; and if it came between those two choices I've previously stated, I'd bite the bullet and have another game set in the Halo universe but not a FPS.

But yeah, let Microsoft whore out Halo, Bungie. You do something different, please.

Halo is more than what was told in the games, the Universe is huge like Star War's universe is and most people have a story in part of it. I mean if Bungie wanted to they could make a game about the Humans first encounter with the Covenant or they could do a story about the civil war that the humans were facing before the Covenant discovered them ect.

They're taking on 4, which isn't that bad compared to many others. DMC4? MGS4? (Toppled with spinoffs and such) Tekken 6? RE5? COD5 (MW2)? Yeah, it's getting stale, but you might as well be yelling at the whole industry then.

LOL@ people saying Bungie make something new, sure they COULD(which is most likely their 3rd project they have been talking about) But really they can make millions off it just like the Call of Duty series. Hell imagine if Halo was on all platforms Like COD? Anyways i personally think after this Bungie is going to annouce something new, but go on people tell us it's milking while we enjoy ANOTHER AAA From bungie:D

If this is true then it's good that they're using a new engine this time.

Hopefully they can spice up the formula a bit instead of just using the same run and gun gameplay.

Five Halo games in 10 years isn't exactly milking a franchise. Remember, Esemble made Halo Wars. Also, Bungie is also working on a new IP, they have been for over a year now.

Exactly. Heck, look at Final Fantasy or Sims then come back and try to tell me that Halo is being milked.

Nice double standard there, with the Mario sig and profile picture. The same could be said of Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Call of Duty, mario, Metroid Prime, and so many other franchises. Please think before you post.

seems believable. Pretty much everything he said is stuff you would probably assume anyway. i wonder if you will be playing as master chief in this one. i think this takes place during a time when there were many spartans running around so I'm hoping you play as a different spartan. not that i don't like MC cause I do it's just that it would be nice to get a new badass character in the mix.

I somehow saw this being a third person shooter when announced. I don't know why. Can't say I'm disappointing by hearing it's a FPS (confirmed by Bungie in a Weekly Update), but it would've been cool to see a new take (other than Halo Wars, which was great, btw). Halo: The Fall of Reach is one of the few video game-based novels I actually like. And saying I "liked" it is a huge understatement. It was amazing. I had been hoping for a game based on Reach ever since reading that. I just really hope they capture the intensity of the novel. Looking forward to this more than ODST. Ugh, 2010. Get here already!

[QUOTE="luigigreen"]Hey Bungie, here's some of my sound advice. Learn to make something that isn't Halo. Why not go back to marathon story? Stop making prequels, stop making stories from different points of view, I want something new, something fresh. Stop milking the same old franchise.stupiddk

Nice double standard there, with the Mario sig and profile picture. The same could be said of Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Call of Duty, mario, Metroid Prime, and so many other franchises. Please think before you post.

The difference is I don't play Mario for the story. I play Mario because it's fun, and every game is original. Yes, their all in the platforming genre, but they all mix it up. The difference between the 2 companies is that Bungie ONLY makes Halo games, which have a unique back story. Yes, I love Halo, I'm just sick of it. It's all the same FPS, just advancing the story. But now that the story is done, they're going back and just giving us prequels, it's frustrating to see a company that's so talented not give us anything original since the first Halo. Edit: Also, I didn't criticize the series. I'm criticizing the devs for making only Halo. Nintendo and all the other companies you listed make other franchises, while still working on their main one, except for Metal Gear Solid, but then again, I'm not a fan of that either.

Five Halo games in 10 years isn't exactly milking a franchise. Remember, Esemble made Halo Wars. Also, Bungie is also working on a new IP, they have been for over a year now.

If they have been working on a new IP for a year, why not show us something? They showed us Reach, but not this new IP. Just more Halo, year after year.
