Halo: Reach looks Amazing in Motion, Pushing 4 million polygons more than Halo 3

Some interesting information about Halo: Reach straight from X10 thanks to Joystiq. They were impressed with the game and say it looks amazing in motion.-Bungie showed a test animation of a battle between Noble Squad, eight marines and 30 Covenant -- it was even more impressive looking than it sounds.
- The game is pushing about four million polygons more than Halo 3 overall, we're told, with a completely re-written animation system and A.I.
- From the stills and footage we saw, it's on track to deliver -- the game looks phenomenal.
- Revamped game engine and A.I. will allow Reach to adopt a more "sandbox" ****within its levels. They're going to be much less linear, he said, and much less scripted.
- We'll say it again, the game looks amazing in motion.

Well, the screenshots already made me think the game looked good. Now I'm anxious to see it in motion.

i'll believe it when i see it. no offense to bungie but none of the games have been a graphical tour de force. Still great games but just not in the graphical department

People that say Halo: Reach isn't impressive need to.... become more intelligent? About as nice as I can say it.

I mean damn, just from the screen shots, it's not too far away from looking as good as Mass Effect 2 or Uncharted 2 (and in that reveal trailer or whatever, it looked on par with Mass Effect 2), but hey, get this:

Mass Effect 2 is literally a series of corridors, so the fact that it's pretty is not as impressive as it looks.

Halo Reach is an uncountable number of times larger than Mass Effect in terms of scope and scale, and it's still keeping up.

And if it looks better in motion, I'm game.

Halo 3 already had some fairly open levels. The fact that they are expanding on that makes me very happy.

Halo: CE was graphical powerhouse. It made cows cry and hermits re-check their graphics cards (at least for just under a year).

Halo 2 was one of best looking Xbox titles out, alongside Chronicles of Riddick and Ninja Gaiden. If it weren't for the pop-in, it would've been the best looking bar none.

There is a GS article on it too. In terms of character model improvements, we actually got to see a visual representation of the progression with an image that showed a version of a marine from the original Halo through Halo: Reach, and the level of added detail in the Reach version of the marine is pretty astounding. Another impressive aspect of Halo: Reach--at least on a visual level--is just how massive the environments are. We got a brief glimpse of a few of them (and a closer look at a multiplayer map), and the view distance is pretty astounding.

Halo 1&2 were amongst the best looking games out when they were released. Certainly better looking than anything else on any other consoles.
