I think that shows how sad the people who play Halo are. They're willing to burn $60 for a 4 hour SP experience. I'm amazed all the sites gave Halo ODST anything over a 9 for what it cost. Bungie doesn't have to make good games, all they have to do is make a game, slap the Halo brand on it and the lemmings will line up in droves to buy it regardless of what they're in for. It comes down almost to an unhealthy obessesion one would have to an addictive narcotic.
The proof is in the fact of games like Halo Wars. This game was awful, it was just a run in the mill average maybe below average RTS knockoff. If it wasn't for the fact that it had Halo in the title it would have sold poorly, but thanks to the brandname it didn't bomb in sales.

I think the bottom line is.. Halo Haters aren't willing to admit that most of the Halo games are pretty darn good. The bottomline is that regardless of gameplay, Halo games are continiously becomming much shorter while costing as much or more than they used to. Halo: Combat Evolved was the best in the franchise, hands down.
Halo 3 was atrocious, especially for the money that I paid for it. I should've learned my lesson after Halo 2.
Anyone that grew upplaying Quake, Doom and Half-Life knows that Halo today is a poor man's FPS(except the price). Halois nothing special, and I find the sequels do much to hurt its reputation considering that originally the first game took many years to develope, now the sequels are being developed at breakneck speed.
Will Halo Reach have 2 hours of SP Campaign and tacked on multiplayer the same as Halo 3? Might as well call it Madden Halo. I can forgive anyone who bought Halo 3, even I did, but anyone who buys another Halo game after that is just buying the same game for full price again and you're just wasting your money, or your parents money.
If you're just going to copy the same game, put a different title on it and claim it's something different with a $60 price tag. Well, then yes I do hate your game. Again, Halo was good, at the time I would have said it was great but how the series has devolved, it's just good now. Halo 2 was passable, Halo 3 was forgivable. Anything after that and you probably need to see a psychiatrist if you haven't already learned you're being nickle and dimed, but if you like throwing your money away for the same thing, that's up to you.
That made me laugh! Thanks for that, really. I have never in my time at SW seen so much ego in one post. You really believe those opinions are the truth. That's the thing, an opinion can be honest, but never the truth. If one became truth, it would then be fact and no longer an opinion. A fact everyone must face, an individual's opinion really only has bearing on that individual. Yet you sit here and create this egoic status to gaming, which is just a means of deriving an identity for one self. I did grow up playing Doom, and I still love Halo, every one of them. I don't need to put some non existent hierarchy on the quality of these games because there is only one criteria.........I enjoy them. I don't muddle the experience with wondering about the cost of it's production or the $60 I paid for it. I am a recovering substanc abuser and I spent $60 in an hour at bars, so a 6 hour SP, and that's what ODST was, is well worth that money. See it's all subjective really, but you don't see many of us insulting others sanity or intelligence when others tastes or value gauging differs.
