Halo Reach: Why is the Player Count Dwindling?

Because player counts naturally decrease over time? This isn't surprising, nor threadworthy. Happens with practically every console game.

It will go back up once the map packs come out, people are just bored with the maps.

Because Call of Duty Black Ops is only a few weeks away

Maybe people are, in general, growing bored with the franchise? Or, maybe, the core Halo fanbase doesn't appreciate the changes made for Reach, and subsequently went back to Halo 3?

That's what happens to online numbers all the time, It doesn't really matter because I'm sure it's incredibly easy for people to find a match on Reach. I personally got burnt out a while ago on Reach. Also, I'm sure there will be a jump around Christmas.FIipMode

I doubt it will see any jumb when a new call of duty is out. everyone know how monster call of duty is, i can see the numbers going down on any other shooter even on MW2 once Black Ops is out, heck couple of my friends are going to skip their university lectures just to play black ops :|. halo probably getting old, CoD is the new big thing :P

Any theories? It seems each time I go online there is less and less people playing, shouldn't the player cap be going up? I mean MW2 on the PS3 has like 3 times as many people online at the moment. Is Halo getting stale? What are your opinions. iWin1337

Because new games are coming out and people are getting bored. The game will sit at 300k to 400k for the next while just as halo 3 did.

because everytime someone makes a thread claiming that when they played halo reach this morning yesterday or last week no one seems to be able to give proof that they even have an xbox, its just a matter of proof, i mean, if the TC really has halo reach he'll know that it gets more than 1,500,000 players everyday and its not "dwindling", its at a steady rate as ever

Last I checked there was over 300 thousand player online. There's still about one million unique players on daily, which is still huge.

The last time I saw over 700,000 players playing the game was a week after the game launched. Last night there was less then 200,000 players on. Sure it's still a lot, but Halo 3 had more players than that 3 years after its launch.

I'm guessing the player count will rise once the rank cap gets lifted and the map pack comes out.
