RTS games on the PC bore me but it could just be the platform, maybe this will be a fun game to play by the sounds of it.will_work4food
Yeah, I mean, it's magic afterall. Can't beat magic. It's like fighting Gandalf with a wooden stick. You're fried.
[QUOTE="skrat_01"]How is it a fact that RTSs on consoles blow hard. Did you set the standard or something? Did you forget games like Pikmin which actually are decent console RTSs? And I think people would care about this game if Halo wasn't in the title. This is Ensemble Studios. Everybody and their mother played Age of Empires. Ugh, the trite hermits come up with these days. ----- Anyway they completely dogged the art direction of Halo. Here's hoping the story is somewhat decent.1. Yes the only reason people are hyping the game and it is getting this much attention is because its under the Halo brand. That is blatantly obvius. Im sure if ensemble were making an RTS like the terribly underrated Perimiter no one would be paying attention.Geee WHIZ! it MUST BE GREAT THEN
Fact*
RTS on consoles blow hard
fact is if this game didnt have the Halo name no one would care
-the game is going to have to change a helluva lot to be 'great' after seeing those gameplay videos.

2. Yea you have got me there Pikmin was a pretty unique game, and un underrated one at that - maybe I should have said 360 rts games compared to their PC counterparts?
-
Proabably the thing that is the biggest worry is after the underhwelming - and quite frankly mediocre gameplay videos, ensemble say it'll be great because there is 'magic in the disk'. Eh?
Sure it'll live up to its Halo name. The Halo name is probably the only thing why people will actually buy this game, regardless they never played an RTS game before.
Halo Wars = people that never bought RTS game buy it 'cause of the Halo name
Halo Wars = it sells insanely well
Halo Wars = RTS developers see that an RTS game sold insanely good on the console, so they jump onto Microsoft's bandwagon
Halo Wars = more RTS games on 360.
Halo Wars = more multiplatform RTS games.
Halo Wars = RTS genre turns into a steaming pile of crap.
Halo Wars = Microsoft scratches its head... *hmm, what's the next genre we could destroy?*
IgGy621985
...how did they destroy the fps genre with halo and why would that be the case now? That sounds retarded especialy after 2007... Crysis, bioshock, cod4, The OB... Yea what total destruction of the genre :S

Quincy Jones said there's magic on the Thriller LP. Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to be skeptical, right?I guess then everyone should there is 'magic' in/on (insert where - game, record, pants) thus it = great.[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"] Quincy Jones said there's magic on the Thriller LP. Its just a buzz word.
Probably. Though if you can't tell when someone honestly means it, then I guess you don't have the gift. You don't have to be a psychic. But sure, you can try fool me if you want to.[QUOTE="skrat_01"]I guess then everyone should there is 'magic' in/on (insert where - game, record, pants) thus it = great.[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"] Quincy Jones said there's magic on the Thriller LP. But sure, you can try fool me if you want to.I'm not that partial to new RTS' unless i'm incredibly excited about them. Namely, I will only get an RTS if i'm going to spend the time to get really good at it.
That being said, I don't see this being a AAA title, but I think it will at least sell well and be good for a quick run-through (SP).
As far as it being a buzz word, yeah, I believe it is. They will definitely sell more copies because of a stupid little 'buzz word,' though. It raises a certain level of curiosity humans usually have."Magic? What does he mean by magic? I want to see this magic, give it to me!"

I don't think it's a buzzword thrown in for good measure. The connotations are too strong. Perhaps the game might be AA, which I'm guessing it is, but if the developer feels absolutely right about what they're doing, then I feel they'd say something along the lines of that. You know when I do some of my own work, and I feel something works, that to me, feels like magic. If an idea of mine falls to pieces, and some one wants to know how it's going, it would be foul play to say 'it's magic'. Those most I can say is 'It's going fine'. As I explained earlier, Quincy Jones didn't go saying every single album he collaborated in was 'magic' -- that was for Thriller alone. And Ensemble look confident. That's a strong indication. Look at the context of how he said that phrase. Statement. Explanation. Example. Did you learn those three things in English class? Know how if you had something going you could elaborate on those three things? And remember when you didn't study for your exams, you could barely give either/or of those two "Es"? If Ensemble just said "It have magic in the disk", then I'd be more wary. But it's the way they said it that is making me think otherwise.[QUOTE="IgGy621985"]Sure it'll live up to its Halo name. Tell me, how many PC exclusive FPS games do you see between Crysis, Bioshock, COD 4, The Orange Box?
One.
That's it.
I don't want to play a multiplatform RTS game, because I surely DON'T want to play an RTS port from the console. And that will surely happen.
I'm not saying that they will destroy the RTS genre with Halo Wars. But, after Halo Wars, developers will start with more and more multiplatform RTS titles, and console ports on the PC. Soon enough there won't be any PC exclusive RTS, and THAT will destroy the genre on the PC. Just like FPS.

IgGy621985
So what if they were multiplats? All 5 of those fps games were goty nominees... The only rts ports you will play are games that are built ground up from the 360. From those fps games, the only one that has the possibility of being a port from the console is halo 3, and if you don't want to play it no ones forcing you to, but don't act like the other fps's aren't fantastic games. If you think thats "ruining the genre" then you are delusional.
On the other hand I just checked youre sig, you know what, not worth arguing with you anymore. Just another fanboy.
