Ensemble's next RTS is exclusively on the Xbox 360, and it's shaping up to be their best yet. As a veteran of Age Of Mythology and Age Of Empires, I can easily say that Ensemble knows what the hell it's doing. Be prepared to buy a 360 Hermits - Halo Wars is next gen RTS goodness!
I'd have to see another video. The last one I saw looked a little boring and standard RTS fare. Move your units, and they just stand around and shoot at the selected enemy party until one side wins. No thanks. Company of Heroes was cool because your units took cover and moved around, and reacted realistically, and to be honest, I can't imagine going through an RTS with resource management again after World in Conflict.
Ensmeble doesn't mean anything for me after Age of Empires 3...I rather take the sequel of Dawn of War (even it haven't been announced yet) over Halo Wars
from what ive seen, it looks like standard RTS gameplay, just set in the halo universe. for me anyway, thats not a big deal. i also will not play a RTS with a controller...its horrid and clumsy.
im alot more excited for empire total war next year......thatll be the big daddy of the strategy genre as a whole imho.
never mind that the gameplay looks the same as all the AOE games...which havent aged really well...
but ensiamble has been overtaken by Relic in the quality department for a while now...and Halo Wars, no matter what, will be annialated by Starcraft 2, and probaly many other RTS's.
I like resource management and base building I think its the most fun part of a strategy game. But it is hard to enjoy them with a controller. Dune: The Battle for Arakis was the first RTS I ever played and that was with the old Genesis controller. If I could just forget ever playing another RTS after that I might be able to get used to controlling one with a controller.
