There are much better RTSes coming out next year.bladeeagleYeah...but not on consoles!

Can't wait, always have been interested in this game for a while, glad to see it out soon.
And sweet! They're using the old school Covenant dropship models.
[QUOTE="cuddlesofwar"]C&C and BFME2 are very playable on console. Yes they're not the most complex of RTS, but there are few that can boast to be significantly more complex. Anyways ... when's this game going to be released?cobrax25
you would be hard pressed to find an RTS simpler than C&C or BFME2....
Really, with the possible exception of WIC...I really cant think of any at all.
Eh, i respect your opinion. I don't agree though.[QUOTE="anshul89"][QUOTE="hopesfall2own"] You're kidding right? None of those are "complex" at all, plus SC is on consoles lol. Verge_6That makes a lovely sig :) Go right ahead, it's only against the ToS and warrants a two week suspension.
Wait... seriously? *deletes current sig*

they are generic in every sence of the word.
I said nothing about how difficult it would be to play those with a controller. He sat there and tried to say PC RTSes have "complex" strategies when there's no such thing as a "complex" strategy for an RTS. Once you play whatever game it is you think is hard for a few hours, its very repetitive and fairly easy to see a pattern of strategies develop. And no the games he listed are not hard at all, no matter how long the tutorials are. hopesfall2ownIn terms of what you can do with most RTS games out there, they are extraordinarily complex in terms of strategy. Especially when you start dealing with micromanaging. Heck, Sins alone has more complexity than you could ever want from a strategy game.

Yeah. C&C3 and BFME2 are pretty basic. Red Alert 3 is slight more complex but still not close to the more advanced ones.what exacly is so complex about C&C or BFME2? they are generic in every sence of the word. cobrax25Indeed, but they are still quality RTS on both consoles or PC, and both cater to very versatile playsty1es. However, with EA's patches (BFME2 is a bit more complex than CnC3 when it comes to combat, but CnC3's eco is far more complex) it seems the game still isn't completely balanced yet. WiC is the most simplistic RTS on the market though, by far. CoH is right above all the previous mentioned ones, and Supreme Commander is definately up there at the top when it comes to complexity. Halo Wars bears a ton of resemblances to BFME2 (ranging from powers, to units, to the eco), so I can't see it being too difficult to grasp, or fast paced for that matter.
From a technical perspective, those screens looked pretty good. Although, I can't help but say that the character design is pretty mediocre (no fault of Ensemble's of course).
On the subject of the controller, yeah, it's not the ideal input method. It's possible that it could work out alright, but it'll never be perfect.
This game will be the start of the downfall of the popularity of the halo brand. Many casuals will pick it up not knowing it's actual genre and will be owned and dissapointed when the game will begin.Thinker_rebornThen it's their fault for being idiots and not know what an RTS is. And how can you say it will ruin Halo's popularity? If there are casuals that pick it up and like it, wouldn't that increase its popularity? Keep trying..

Now I am optimistic that this game will be great. But I also believe that this will be the Halo game that causes an overall lack of Halo appeal among casuals.
wow that atctually looks really good
im not sure if im gonna like it or not....im not extremely big on RTS's
I don't see the big deal about this game it looks very basic for an RTS like a dune 2 clone at best. and if you ask me End war looked better.
[QUOTE="TPOJ-TPO"]The game looks great and OXM just played the 1/3 of the game and said it's almost as fun playing Halo: CE when it first came out.agentfredI don't mean to doubt them, but does OXM have much experience with good PC RTSes?I doubt they only play 360 all the time, besides, they've given bad RTS games the scores the deserved. For console, Halo Wars might be great, considering the controls are easy to get used to.

Still, I would like to get my hands on this myself before I make up my mind.
