Its bad? Not even GameSpot said that, and they were one of the most negative reviews out. Can you link me to you gamercard?another halo wars is better than 6.5 game .
dude you bought the game and you want to feel good ,that you didnt give your hard earned money for a trash game.even though its a halo game its bad, dont justify your buy by telling its better that the score they gave it.sure some people like lair too, some people like barbie playhouse,it got 6.5 here deal with it,its bad here ,its a flop here end of story

Halo Wars is an amazing game and is a really nice addition to console gaming as a quality RTS. I would give it a solid 8.5 for making an RTS actually work on a console. 6.5 to me is just a publicity stunt by GS to try to spark some interest in the sad and dying forums.
Definitely one of them. I'm enjoying it so far, especially the cutscenes (or more specifically this cutscene (1:15) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8lxRH9zqWw&feature=channel_page).
This is accurate, normal difficulty is way too easy, he should have played it on heroic or legendary before commenting. Also, not playing online? Come on now. Even the par times exceed 5 hours, nevermind collecting skulls and black boxes, plus skirmish mode (you need to win on every map to unlock certain timeline events and such)... Every other review source actually played the game, why did gamespot skip it?Here's the problem with the review for this website:
- The guy who reviewed it didn't know how to play the game.
- He says he can't just click a button so you can go to one of your squads. But there's the D-pad, and if you hit down it will go to a squad, and if you hit it again, it will go to another one. Same with your bases, which is left on the D-pad.
- The game is five hour long...when other reviewers said it's LONGER.
- He only played in Normal Difficulty, he admitted that too.
- And he didn't even play the ONLINE!
There's having your opinion, but there's being flat out wrong about a game.
- It was also the UK review, and this the the US website...Gamespot, you failed.
Real score should've been 8-8.5.

Wow, this is pointless and funny, and who relies only on Gamespot for reviews?

[QUOTE="Giancar"][QUOTE="mitu123"]yeah, sooo much downgraded game sooo cheap game sooo boring game IMO of course I heard about it being cheap though, some of my friends made a blog about that, maybe I should try it.I never played MK Wii, but I heard that game was a downgrade from previous MK games, is that true?
mitu123
I think people who were fans of MK64 and MKDS see that MKWii is true to the series and if you enjoyed them then will enjoy it. Its the DD fans that seem to have a problem with MKWII, not knowing that DD is the red headed step child of the series.
For all these people claiming its terrible or what have you, could I ask for GamerCards? There seems to be alot of hate from people who seem to have not played it, which is, IMO, terrible that you let GameSpot (which was not as negative as you think if you bothered to read the text of the review) think for you without making up your own mind.If you have played it, the real full game, then you can form an opinion on it. But it seems most people have not even bothered to do that.SpruceCaboose
I'm sure most of the people bashing the game had never played Halo Wars (and some of them haven't played any Halo), Just clinging to the Gamespot's 6.5 to say it is a horrible game. It is just fodder to bash the 360 with to them.
I find it to be a simple RTS, similar to what Civ Rev was (well in a TBS). From what I played of it it is fun, easy to control the units. While not an AAA game, I would say it is a solid AA game.

I know. See, a poster like vandalvideo is and has been critical of Halo Wars. But I respect his opinion on it. He owns it and has played it.I ruined the story for myself, but damn that cutscene was awesome. :PDefinitely one of them. They would sadly, for ownage and other things. I on the other hand think their reviews are highly questionable. This gen I'm disagreeing with their reviews on hyped games though.I bought the Collector's Edition yesterday, I'm loving it so far.II-FBIsniper-IIWe should play some cooperative play someday. Would you be cool if I added you on XBL?
360 owners sure love their shovelware :P ;)Zhengi

The review is very obviously comparing it to the Best RTS in the genre, such as Dawn of War or Company of Heroes. Yes, compared to those games its shallow and simple. Compared to other RTS's on the Xbox, and especially for a user base that is new to RTS's, its a great game though. It shouldn't have been compared to others in the genre.Cali3350
Why not? there is a limit to how many years a game may go back in time to please a crowd.

I agree! Halo Wars has been so much fun, I really didn't expect it at first. I knew I was going to enjoy the game, but I did not the story would be anything amazing. And it was. Acrobatic Spartans ftw!! I also Ejoyed how they closely followed the books and lore, it was amazing.
Why do you say the one poor review is accurate, ignoring the 54 which say it's great?I think that the review was accurate. It was a shallow and flawed game... does it deserve a high score just because it was called Halo Wars.

The game is comparable to Red Alert 2 and more simplified than Starcraft. It's 2009, even if it's a console RTS you'd expect more from it and honestly if this is all that it takes to score AA for the majority of reviewers than the standards are just way to low IMO. Don't get me wrong, I thought the game was fun, but easily forgotten.
If Halo Wars were to be released on the PC, then it may be another story, but I don't see using frustrating controls for an RTS game as fun.

The controls are quite easy to use and very responsive after a few battles, actually. If Halo Wars were to be released on the PC, then it may be another story, but I don't see using frustrating controls for an RTS game as fun.

I played it yesterday. It's pretty decent. Definitly better than 6.5, but the award for best 6.5ish game goes to Mario Kart 64 (6.4 is close enough)
