I just love it when the Halo bashers say it's he only game the xbox has or that it's such100% garbage.
I mean come on, millions of people love this game, if you dont like it fine but dont say it's the worst thing out there and act all superior. Have some respect for a game that saved the Xbox and because huge franchise, and pretty much revolutionized FPS's for a lot of people, me being one of them.

I didnt think I liked FPS's until I played Halo and become addicted to that game. I mean I muth have played that campaign dozens of times on different difficulty levels.

And I loved Halo 2 just thought it was short and the ending sucked but it was still good. Although Online got boring for me fast, all the cheating and all, really way too much killing for me. I prefer online play like COD2 where you can go nuts and run if you want but you can also sit back and plan and snipe if you want like I do

I never really liked the first Halo but that doesn't mean I won't like the third.  Hence Halo 3 being in my sig.  I seriously hope there isn't any auto-aim this time.

Spartan070

If for all the things Halo brings to the table "aim-assist" keeps you from liking it, that's pretty sad imo.

That's not the only thing I don't like about it.  The highly repetative gameplay and the same old levels being used over and over again were enough to put me off playing the game a second time.  And the Auto aim only makes things worse :(

Do people NOT know that aim assist can be turned off? Also, I have NEVER heard that Halo or Halo 2 had repetitive levels. I have NEVER heard that complaint. In fact, I hear more often that Halo has the best level design and balance in level design out of any FPS. Levels are varied from ships, to edges of cliffs to covenant cruisers to canyons to underground labyrinths to beach coastlines to forests and hillsides to icy lakes and caverns...etc. etc. etc.

You either are a fanboy or a hater, or you've never even played Halo and Halo 2.

Ok, Halo 2 is fine, but you've never heard Halo 1 had repetitive levels? That was like the number 1 complaint it received. Remember the level The Library? Remember how a lot of the levels were double ups?

Maybe they were repetitive to you, but come on, compared to every other game out there, how is Halo's levels any MORE repetitive? And the other thing to remember is most FPSs do have maze-like levels, that presents a challenge to the first person perspective for the player. Yes there were a couple levels that were maze-like, but they were only repetitive if you didn't know how to get out of those levels lol. I would venture to say Metroid Prime is alot more repetitive as far as levels than Halo in that respect.

Maybe they were repetitive to you, but come on, compared to every other game out there, how is Halo's levels any LESS repetitive? And the other thing to remember is most FPSs do have maze-like levels, that presents a challenge to the first person perspective for the player. Yes there were a couple levels that were maze-like, but they were only repetitive if you didn't know how to get out of those levels lol. Compared to other FPS? Some were quite repetitive, on levels like the Library, and in the fact that a lot of locations doubled up (The Pillar of Autumn/Last Level, Truth and Reconciliation/2nd Last Level, Control Room Level/Leaving Control Room level. It isn't a game breaking issue (obviously) and Halo CE is still great, but it's the game's biggest issue IMO.

ok i didnt feel like quoting but u know who im talkin to. metroid actually had more variety to its levels than halo. but no biggie i had no problems with the halo level designs. i thought it was fine. second what auto aim. im seriously missing that. what do u mean. cause i know metroid had that automatic targeting thing if u pressed a button but there wasnt one in halo. i mean all it was the target cursor, and u move that around with the controller. im confused. somebody explain

Exactly.  Not that the levels were necessarily bad or anything but they just seemed overused (to me at least).  And I don't remember being able to turn off Auto aim but I'll take your word for it shsonline.

And BTW, I'm not a hater.  I'm quite looking forward to Halo 3 (it's in my sig).  It was just a few gripes I had with the first game that killed it for me which will hopefully be fixed in the next game.

Marathon=Best FPS shooter ever on the PC
Halo=Best FPS ever on consolespoopinloop32

Half Life = Best PC FPS
Golden Eye = Best console FPS.............. Or Perfect Dark.......
Half Life = Best FPS ever.

Halo is a very very good FPS - and best recent FPS.
None for console was as groundbreaking as good as GoldenEye though.

No its simply grossly overrated here and there; Like with how 'revolutionary' it is to the genre, how 'groundbreaking' it is, and how its claimed to be the 'best FPS ever'.

There is no denying its an exellent FPS though.

And every console and PC has its own system sellers................
