[QUOTE="MythManiac"]Retro. No matter what you say, old games are harder compared to games now...htekemerald
If by older games you mean mario and zelda, you are wrong.

I mean older games like Castlevania, Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Ghost and Goblins and Metroid. Gah!

So, in your opinion, what is the hardest genre or what is the hardest one to master?

Personally, I think it's RTS since I'm really bad at micro-management and it just seems to take a lot of strategy and tactics to be good at them.

Fighting (except for Super Smash Bros) and FPS come at a close second considering no matter what, I always seem to be the n00b in all matches I play. :Plaughingman42

Explain.

Well, maybe some people wouldn't consider SSB to be a fighter, but it's the only 'Fighter' I'm good at.

Super smash bros. is probably one of the hardest fighting games to truely master. because the timing is rediculus. short hop fast fall laser, short hoping in general with some characters, wave dash, shine wave, teching, real edge gaurding, and truely improvised combos, and just plain knowing exactly where to get your character at the right time, take FOREVER to really get down. Its not just a button masher I promise.

EDIT: I wold have to say that multiplayer RTS is one of the hardest and most nerve racking gaming experiences there is when you are playing against someone good. the shear sence of urgency makes it that much harder. (especially when you are looking down the wrong end of a zerg rush)

Ouch, if you really want a hard fighter to master then try Virtua Fighter. It makes SSB feel like Pong.

You misunderstand, I definitely consider SSB to be a fighter, but when I say except, I mean I'm bad at all fighters except for SSB.

I agree. i completed Osu tatakae ouendan at cheerleader level. It's pretty hard, and especially so if you're aiming for S rank. DDR, i was great for easy and normal. But then came the difficulty ramped up later on.

I would say the hack 'n' slash genre is famed for its difficult games. Among them are the likes of Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry and God of War - each of these games, when played on the max difficulty, can be impossible to complete. In Ninja Gaiden, apparently just 1 in 10000 people can finish it on the hardest difficulty setting (they worked it out using the Xbox Live leaderboards). Hell, even when played on normal difficulty, both NGB and DMC3 can make grown men cry!
