Exclusives are very important to Sony, especially since the Xbox 360 had a head start and is less expensive. If a game is available on multiple systems, people are probably more likely to get it for the Xbox 360. They need exclusives to justify purchasing the system. The PlayStation 2 had many exclusive games and it did great, in part due to those exclusives.
The less PS3-only games there are, the less reason there is to slap down $600 and buy the system.
We've seen many of those devs go towards the Wii, but I still believe that eastern gamers need both the PS3 and the Wii and cannot only have one or the other.DireToad
Harrison says exclusives are not a priority for the PS3.I think he hopes it doesn't matter because they don't have squat, and they know it. Too bad for him it's the only thing that matters.

He also says he doesn't think that exclusives are as important.
"I' m not sure that's as big a deal as everyone points out," he said.
What do people think about this? Is he right? Does it matter whether or not games are exclusives as long as there are games?

I know that this is all corprate mindspeak, but come on. Exclusives have always been a very important part of videogames. 1st or 3rd party, exclusives sell consoles. This has been true from NES/Sega through GC/PS2/X-Box, and it's true to this gen too.
I'm sure a lot of gamers are like I am and buy a console when enough games I want are available. I always get Nintendo systems because of Mario and Zelda, I got my Genesis for the exclusive x-men games and Sonic, TG for Bonk and Ys, PS for FF7, Saturn for Rayearth, PS2 for Kingdom Hearts (waiting on Banjo-Kazooie to decide on 360). Now I buy other games as well, but it takes those few exclusives that I really want to make me shell out the money for the system. For simplicity, I also tend to get multiplats for one system, so I usually end up with one system with a lot of games, and 2 or 3 with only a dozen or so.
If all systems have the same games, why get more than one, and definately why choose the more expensive one. Afterall, when was the last time there was a significant difference between versions of the same game?
[QUOTE="LordAndrew"]I wouldn't exclude the 360. Wii and Xbox 360 make a nice match as well. The Xbox 360 games feature more traditional control methods that won't be going away any time soon.DireToad
LOlolOLolloLOlloLLollOLolOlodOl...ohh that was rich :P thats just what i would expect someone who has lost most of thier exclusives to say for DAMAGE CONTROL........not unlike a little kid saying.....YOUR NOT MY BUDDY...or....I DIDNT WANT THAT ANYWAY....HMM. :PjazrealThe most stupidest comment ever post on SW is that Sony is lost alot of exclusive. It down right stupid. Sony has over 100+ exculsive titles, yet you think 1-5 is alot

Except that they've only lost two . When will fanboys quit blowing things out of proportion? The 360 has lost more exclusives than the PS3 has... why fail to bring that up? Ahhh, yes. Fanboyism, it's a horrible thing. The fact is that Sony still has the most exclusives coming out this year.
Harrison says exclusives are not a priority for the PS3.If he's really saying that, then he really has lost touch of what gamers are like. Music business is like games? Sony branding and advertising? Premium-charging indie developers for arcade game space? my god... Anyway, imo, exclusives could very well be the determining factor for success. What makes me buy a console over another would be what one offers that the other can't. And it would be the games that'd determine my choice.
