It's blaringly obvious that Epic doesn't know a thing about gameplay. Not every company has millions of $$$$ and huge developement teams at their disposal. What the Wii does is bring down these costs, and the size of the teams. This allows for more experimentation, new franchises, new experiences, ect.

Where's the creativity Epic? You can't even imagine any possibilities? If you haven't found a game you like wouldn't that make more sense to jump into that market and take control? If games were made fun only by "next-gen tech" graphics, why do people still play games of the past? Why do millions of people play free independant games and love them? Why do people play Xbox Live Arcade games? Why does the PS2 keep selling? Why? Because gameplay, that's why... Maybe you should take notes from Valve, they know how to innovate.

What "new" franchises has the wii brought to the table? Whose "experimenting" on the wii? All I see are the same o'l franchises with "waggle" controls added. There are a few gems like Z&W and NMH ofcourse but they sell like CRAP! Indy developers are a GOD send to this gen but I honestly don't see alot of that on the wii... Hell their VC is made entirely of old school games with NO extras..

To be prominent in people's minds, you must either be hated or loved - with that in mind, let's exam what Epic does. In rotation, each big-name employee of Epic comes out every few weeks to make some kind of comment that's highly quotable, and just argumentative enough to keep the name "Epic" floating in the papers.

Yet look at the content of what they're saying "Epic will never develop for the Wii". Of course not - nothing else he said matters. The real reason epic won't be on the Wii? They only make two games - Gears of War and Unreal Tournament. Neither of those games is really suited to or aimed at the audience that's on the Wii. They're not going to start some new Wii-only series, when all of their staff, time, and money are being funneled into Gears of War 2 and 3. They'll inevitably finish out the 360 with GeoW 3 ("ending the trilogy") by which time it'll be time to start developing for the next generation.

But, by coming out with remarks that can inflame an audience they're not selling to, and boost the ego of the 360-fanatic they need to sell to - Epic keeps their name floating. Hate or love, doesn't matter, as long as you're thinking about their name and giving them the time of day, you've given them what they want - recognition.

I didn't say this was happening, I'm just saying that's how the Wii is set up. The DS had a rocky start too, it took about a year for decent games to start comming to the system.

They all usually have bad first years (except for the 360 IMHO). But I really don't see anything coming down the pipeline that'll make me say WOW.. I gotta have that! Maybe that's why I sold it so soon after buying it... :? I really want all the companies to succeed, however I've been gaming for a long time and if they're going to do something "different" then do something different..!

Yeah and Halo 3 is just Halo 2 with minor changes, and GoW2 will be GoW1 with minor changes also. Wii Sports is a free demo disc, are you honestly expecting mind blowing visuals? I really haven't noticed any jaggies in Wii sport.

Come on man, you think that 100% of the people that get the game mastered it. You play with the GC controller, same as Melee. No one wants to play with the nunchuk. My cousin has the game and we played for 3 hours. The whole time I was thinking...yep this is Melee. Just to check I dug up my copy of Melee that I haven't played in years and played it a round. Dude, the games are minorly different at best.

At least Halo changes multiplayer and singleplayer between installments.

Obviously there's a large number of people who really love it and enjoy it and are getting into the games but I'm still waiting for that one game that makes me play it.

Those games are nice, but I don't really play them much anymore, I wouldn't call them that one game, just another entry in the serieses with a little added in.

I respect Mike Capps opinion but I don't agree with it. If you need graphics to sell a game so be it.

Exactly the reason I don't care about the Wii and why, imo, 3rd Party devs will always underappreciate the Wii's hardware. The ONLY hope to look forward to is Factor 5......I guess.

If you got a PC it's actually less... I know from first hand.. I've played my Wii which I have had a fraction of the time compared to my 360.. alot more than it.

well at least Epic admitted that they bought a Wii and played it instead of just trying it out at some convention and not having thought about getting one..

Not everyone is into Brawl and Galaxy. Personally, I didn't like Galaxy, and I got tired of Brawl after playing it for 3 weeks.

MS is buying epic, and as a result, epic developers are forced to deal with the fact that they are supporting a console that is getting demolished in the market by the nintendo wii. as a result, they are a little bitter - much like the wii-bashing fanboys here in system wars.

I played my Wii for 2 months, and that was since launch. I haven't turned it on since thenPainballz

I upgraded my PC, played it for a few days then sold the parts to buy consoles.

I'm not a Wii hater, I actually like it. I like it, not love it. I understand what he's saying though, about it being a virus. The first reaction to it is "Awesome!!!" and I guarantee that no body has ever played Wii Sports for the first time without a smile being on their face.... but after that, the experinces kinda run thin. 3rd party games are basically crap, (with a few exceptions) and Nintendo's 1st party games are great - but the Wiimote gets old. Even SSBB is best with Gamecube controller, and SMG hardly uses the Wiimote for any other than catching stars. I can only point and click and wag the Wiimote before I get bored.

Dont get me wrong, I like the Wii and hope it survives a long time. It's got much more potential, I just can understand what this guy is saying here.

Seriously though, they do have a point. The hardware in the Wii is more last-gen than current gen. Sure, the cutscenes in SSBB are rather astonishing, that's only one game. All of the games on PS3 and 360 have breathtaking cutscenes.

Trust me, I've got the same thing. I got a Wii, and I've even got SSBB, and I still spend all my time on my PS3. I just like its games better.

Some of you have to understand that is isn't necessarily about Epic "not-liking" the Wii here. They're a business, which means inevitably whatever they do is motivated by money. In their case, they've invested millions in developing a game engine that is next to useless on the Wii. Which means that if they suddenly decided they wanted to make Wii games...

-They'd be wasting money they spent developing the UE3 engine
-They'd be sending a message to all of their potential licensees that says "don't bother licensing our engine, just make Wii games!"
