Has a below average game ever had a sequel that was hyped this much ??? (+rant)

The dev team is much larger than it was originally, it is mostly people who didnt work on the original. The budget is much higher. The support from sony to understand the PS3 hardware is better. Your thread fails.

Well its a WAY higher Budget which is around 20 million dollars or euros not sure, also its guerilla but almost a completely diffrent team, Anyways why cant we hype this but we can hype crysis, bioshock and halo 3? Also killzone 2 owned graphics wise and animation wiseand its far from its release which is around 6-8 months comapred to halo which is 2 months away and bioshock is like 3, Crysis is a whole diff story th, becuase we all know graphically it will own but i still arent interested on it, the story doesent pull me in like bioshock or kz 2, all in all i think killzone 2 deserves the hype and it will probably live up to it aswell IMO mine!!!Blanco98

It's cows, Sony fans hype everything like it'll be good, the reason why there has been so many cow ownage in SW is because cows hype anything on the PS3, Motorstorm was hyped to no end, Resistance was as well, even Genji and Untold Legends were hyped, it's to be expected, it'll be fun to be here for their game releases, some of which I don't really expect much from. themyth01

It's this hyped because of the damn E3 05 trailer...hyped by Sony fans anyhow. And once the E3 07 trailer rolled along...it picked up even more, because it is drastically similar to the CGI trailer.

The story of Killzone 2 so far (as I understand it) is "now its 2 years after Killzone and the good guys are going to the badguys planet to kidnap their emperor"...or something. Don't get me wrong, Killzone 2 might have a great story, but we sure as hell haven't seen enough of it to be 'pulled in' yet...unless your a Killzone 1 fan?

i played the original killzone. i liked the single player but the multiplayer part of it to me was lacking so much. compared to halo, killzone for ps2 multiplayer wise was awful.

Hey, maybe this is getting hyped but thats cause of its graphics. i mean look at all those movie games that are top sellers. that should be worth complaining about. not a game that had potential but didnt reach it. plus its sony, first party is not letting go of a franchise casue of one average game.

i agree with you that a sequel to a mediocre game shouldn't get more attention then crysis and other great games. However, the first killzone was supposed to be a Halo killer. It wasn't. and now they come back with Kz2 acting all mighty with a CGI trailer. Now everyone is waiting for real KZ2 footage so they can lay "ownage" on the game and be done with it. Turns out it looks good, and since everybody was waiting to tear it down, they witnessned its true potential.

I just looked up Guerrilla also and they have not made any good games. Killzone 6.9, Shellshock: nam 67 scored 5.4. It is not like this is Bioware or Blizzard that deserve the benefit of doubt. Does that mean they can not make a great game of course not. They can still make a great game but no reason to hype a sequal to a failed game with this much hype.

Also Shellshock is the only other game I could find there may be others better or worse.

haha lemmings are already starting to be silenced since e3. More people are already wanting ps3. We are getting times exclusives and more content, and better first party games. I cant wait untill killzone2 is released so you lemmings eat your words even more. You guys will be back on the bottom. Nitendo may still be on top since its clearly made for casuals(judged by their e3 showing), but ps3 will be the best next gen system.
