I almost cried when in Starfox Assault [spoiler] Peppy rammed the Great Fox into the shield over the apparoid homeworld, and I thought that he and Rob died. [/spoiler] . But no, a game has never actually brought me to tears, but that was getting pretty close.
I think it's weird if people cry over games, I mean the characters aren't real, and no game yet has photo realistic visuals, so it's like crying over a cartoon. Now people crying over a movie I could understand, then again grave of the fireflies was the closest I ever got to crying over a cartoon.
seriously: there were games where i got emotional, but i never cried with the real tear thingy.. but i never do in real life either.. last time was ... can't even remember. i'm a happy dude..:P

FFX was pretty sad, the storytelling was fantastic and the characters were so well done it was like a real movie. They weren't so stiff and plastic as many other games.

Games like Starfox, where they get you attached to the characters over several games. It can be quite a shock when one of them suddenly seemingly dies in a self sacrificial blaze of glory.

I don't think it was sad, but it was an emotional game. I need to play it again...haven't played it in years.

I never really cared about Aeris, so I didn't mind when she died lol.
But with FFX, I wanted the two to get together(so Tidus could stop **** whining!), but at the end paired with the "To Zanarkand" music was awesome in a sad way.

After getting through 2/3 of it I came too a segment that seemed bugged.. Spent two hours trying too complete it in the exact same way it should be completed in.. That made me cry...
No. I don't really get into most videogames stories. I have been surprised a few times though like in twilight princess when SPOILER midna admits to using you as a tool for most of the game.
Well didnt cry, but I think one of the darker rpg stories was the Phantasy Star Online ones. If you followed all of the little pods for the story, when you met the final boss, it was pretty darn sad. Sad and grim. Not talking just outright gruesome like the Digital Devil Saga series, but the storyline overall was sad as hell in PSO.
Then the Episode 2 kind of sealed it up. Such a freaken good game. It sustained me on the console for years.
I think the saddest game overall is xenogears. Such a head trip.
The ending of Halo 2 made my cry. It was aweful. No, no, just kidding....about the crying part.
I'm usually pretty emotionless whie playing games, except having fun, etc, but the game that came the closest to actually bringing a tear to my eye was the ending of COD4. :( That was the only sad ending in any game that I've ever played.
Most of the time I feel like crying it's with anger, like the 6th time I died to Yuan Kut -Ku in Monster Hunter Freedom 2, why make it such a big step up from the other quests...WHYYY!!!
