has anyone lost interest in console gaming

i usually regularly until i realized i was tired of console gaming. wii with its interesting games flawed controller and sporadic releases.

ps3 with its high price tag heavy installs resistance 2 took a half hour and flawed multiplatform bayonetta f.e.a.r

360 with its premium priced accessories paid online and lack of first party

is pc gaming worth the effort to make or maybe ill go the handheld route as i still like my gamegear games shinobi shining force etc

also has anyone else lost interest in consoe gaming

Im a PC guy by heart.

You should only get into PC gaming, and spend money on it, if you are also interested in computers in generel, and possibly for more than just gaming.

If you are more into just playing the games, and you dont really care about, or know anything computers, you should probably stick to your console of choice.

That said, PC gaming is by no means difficult to get into, but to not get bored with it, you need to really like playing videogames to justify the increased price tag, but you also need to be interested in computers and like messing around with them. Learning how to replace parts and install them in your case is easy. Its when Windows is acting up that you need atleast a baseline knowledge of how stuff works. If not you are gonna spend alot of time on techsupport forums.

Its pretty simple tho. Like computers? Like playing games? If both are yes, get a gaming PC. If you only like games, get a console. Its simply not worth the effort and time unless you like it.

Somewhat. Having a decent laptop and needing it for college, i grew more fond of playing my games on the PC instead of the console. Heck, when it comes to gaming, laptops are like some sort of super-console, if you will.

I'm going down this route. Shooters are edging out most genres on consoles, and shooters are my least favorite genre.

The Platformer and RPG are what I grew up with, and they've moved to handhelds.

I just wish there were still good sonic games being made...that would renew my interest in getting a console next gen.

I have. I'm waiting for the Wii U as there are rarely any console games that interest me this year besides Skyward Sword, Uncharted 3, and Gears 3.

Besides those, everything else I want is on PC.

I have lost interest. After this gen, I think I'll just do my first pc build and go from there.

Not yet. Talk about spending money, I've spend over $1700 in hardware alone for this generation (counting extra controllers (3 extras for each system), online services , battery chargers, etc. Plus I always buy the sku with the most features, like the Xbox360 elite, and the 600 PS3.)

Nope, my interest is increasing for console gaming especially with all the games coming out in 2011. IMO this is the best year for console gaming this gen.

Well things certainly aren't great but I haven't outright "lost interest." I'm playing my PSP like it's a console, though.

also TC, if your tired of console gaming, why the heck do you expect pc gaming to be different?.. my friend who's a prime pc gamer has loads of games that he still haven't beaten that he has bought from steam sales or other deals yet he always text me and says he's bored and we should go do something. Its not the platform my friend, you just need to take a break from games period and find some other activities till you get your mojo back

Yes. Man i remember the days... playing Area 51 and Killzone1 on ps2 online, then halo 2 on xbox. Those were the days. Up until late 2007 mid 2008, i was having a blast on my xbox and newly bought Ps3 with Killzone 2. Now, everything seems bland as no other and i can't hold my attention to them. I've had a gaming PC since 2008/2009, thats what i've been doing most of the time gaming wise.

Well if TC can't bear the PS3 installs, moving to the PC seems to be a step in the wrong direction... :roll:

I wouldn't say that I've lost interest in console gaming, as several of the titles I've played recently have been multiplat releases, and some I've even used my 360 controller to play. I've simply been playing them on PC.

Yes. I rarely turn on my consoles except for a few times. I recently sold my Xbox 360 for $200 (Just the Console XD). I'm not supporting Microsoft anymore esp. with all the stuff they are throwing out. Even Gears of War 3 (one of my most fav. series) wasn't enough to keep it.

I await Skyward Sword and I am playing threw some Super Mario Galaxy right now. I'm also playing and finishing my PS3 backlog, because I should, I bought the games.

Only games I'm getting this year for consoles are Skyward Sword (Wii) and Dark Souls (PS3). Everything else seems generic. IMO I still play 85% of my time on PC though.

Consoles have moved to a shooter heavy and honestly the communties have gone down hill. Thats why i moved to pc

I've never gamed so much as I have this gen. I am slowly getting into PC gaming but most of my time is on consoles.

I have lost interest in console gaming.

As each day goes by, and I discover new games on the PC, or various mods, I just find all my gaming time consumed by the PC. I feel purchasing any system would be a wasted investment for me since I love what the PC offers so much.

That's not to say it'd go the same way for you TC. I've been PC gaming for over a decade, and when I first began I was a big time console gamer, and played my PC for just a handful of games. You won't get much out of PC gaming without searching since there's no big, mainstream aspect about PC gaming. You won't see commercials for every PC game, or tons of coverage on the big gaming sites for the games that come out, but once you know where to look you can find some truly wonderful games :)

Or perhaps you won't. Not really up to me to decide for you :)
