PC has all sorts of problems too.

Very; it's been over 3+ months I haven't touched a game and don't plan on to. Same goes with PC. At 19 year olds, I'd rather do something more productive/ recreational actives rather than spending so many hours playing a virtual character. I only come here because I enjoy reading comments here and enjoy the off topic boards :)
only hanging in there,
one more gen of sony and ms offering fps fps fps , and i guarantee ya ill go strictly nintendo from now on, im sick of paying big bucks for 300 fpses over a handful of other types of games
bring me a snes 2 and ill be happy
until then , ya 3ds wii and snes are the only things i touch alot

No one has a gun point to your head forcing to buy those genres.
There are many genres other than FPS that grace both 360 and PS3.
i usually regularly until i realized i was tired of console gaming. wii with its interesting games flawed controller and sporadic releases.
ps3 with its high price tag heavy installs resistance 2 took a half hour and flawed multiplatform bayonetta f.e.a.r
PC has a higher price tag, every game has to be installed, and game performance is less reliable due to PC specific issues arising from various configurations of non-standardized hardware.
PS3 doesn't get bad ports anymore, and I can't even remember the last game I played that had an install that lasted more than a few minutes.
360 with its premium priced accessories paid online and lack of first party
PC has no first party, and quality accessories are just as expensive as 360 accessories, except HDDs, but those aren't really accessories. I guess the online thing makes sense, but I haven't been able to play an online game smoothly yet on PC due to the very troubleshooting heavy naature of the platform.
is pc gaming worth the effort to make or maybe ill go the handheld route as i still like my gamegear games shinobi shining force etc
I like having PC capable of playing games, but I probably spend more time downloading, installing, configuring, making adjustments to my network, than I do playing the games I have for PC.

The selection isnt all that great imo. It's mostly pc ports and prettier versions of console games we played last gen. With that said, I would say that I am losing interest. Handhelds have been a saving grace this generation in terms of games I want to play.I'm much more into PC gaming right now, but that doesn't mean I've lost interest in console gaming. There are always good games on all platforms, and I wouldn't be doing myself a favour missing out on those that cater to my tastes.
However if I have to pick just ONE platform, it's PC all the way, and by far. Looking forward to Wii U, though... Can't wait to see if they find great and innovative ways to use that controller in games.
I noticed I usually go back to PC gaming at the end of each consoles generation.
It's been about a year since I started gaming primarily on my PC. I'm actually waiting for the next gen consoles.
All multiplats today are far more superior on PCs that it takes a really good online component to get me buy them on consoles (I usually play online competitive games on consoles due to cheating that plagues PC online multiplayer).

Installing is better for loading textures and starting up(besides the first time when you install it). There is standardized hardware on an architectural level, and the only game i have ever played that has had less performance and more issues than its console counter part is saints row 2.
PS3 doesn't get bad ports anymore, and I can't even remember the last game I played that had an install that lasted more than a few minutes.

PC has no first party, because its open source, but it has the largest ammount of exclusives(whether they interest you or not is another matter). I dont know how you have not been able to play online smoothly...check your firewall and antivirus? Troubleshooting does happen sometimes, but i found setting up my NAT settings for xbox and ps3 much more of a hassle than anything ive done for my computer.

Well, sounds like its just a personal problem. Downloading, you can buy the game if you dont want to download. Installing takes a whole 3 minutes. Making adjustments to your network...i do not understand...what is there to adjust? Ports? even though thats only needed for hosting.
Im not saying pc doesnt have some problems, but it sounds like you have an abnormally high ammount. The good thing is when it does, on pc you can just google and find a solution to the problem.

To add a few to the 'better on console list': GTAIV, Force Unleashed 1 & 2, Assassins Creed 1 & 2, Dragon Age 2 (for my Nvidia card, the game runs at 30FPS on low, although I understand the majority of cards have no issues), and I'm sure there are more, those are just off the tops of my head.

I've never had any hassle with consoles and very few with PC's, although it can be said that it is often satisfactory to fix an occuring error on your PC from a game.

Exactly, google has the solution to every, never had an issue I couldn't fix with a little bit of google.

On the servers i play on, normally within 3 minutes. I dont really play any fps anymore anyway, waiting for Red orchestra 2 :D

yep..im tired of the same ole same with games..high prices, glitches, expensive addons,no care about splitscreen mulitplayer, big budget expensive junk..I dont ever play anymore on console or pc. Its taken a back seat to just sitting and surffing the web..Ive gamed for years though so I had my fun. I do however have about 5 games Im going to buy before totally giving up..Just have to wait on them.
battlefield 3
LBP2 "its out but waiting on GOTY version

Nah it's better then ever for me. Everything is improving at record speeds. There's plenty of crap still of course but the overall standard is frighteningly good. Loads of PC genres like online FPS, RTS, MMO, WRPGs, city builders, and even some sims are on consoles now. Along with every traditional console genres. Downloadable arcade games allow for lots of originalty and keep sidescrollers alive. There's great single player, splitscreen multiplayer and online. And more co-op games then ever before (or so it seems to me, others say I'm wrong?) Apart from stuff outside gaming, like prices, hardware weakness/failures, hacks, and so forth, console gaming itself is just awesome 8)locopatho
My thoughts exactly. Well said.
When I first heard about both the new systems coming I was quite excited when I heard about xbox one and their BS policies I hated it but they fixed that. When I seen the graphics for the coming games I honestly thought they were ps3 and xbox 360 graphics and lost a lot of interest in both systems. Now I just discovered xbox one controller requires batteries.....really? Too cheap to put in a recharge pack like ps3 has that is awesome and works awesome.... Interest even more lost. So far every game I seen for either system could so very simply be put on current gen and have just about as good of graphics without requiring you to pay 400+ for a new system. Also with all the truly BS free 2 overcharge games and trying to enforce never own your product psyically digital BS as well spamming AD's and microcrapactions next gen is looking worse and worse. Of course EA and Microsoft are at the top of the crap pile but sony isn't far off. So in short Next Gen looks like a dying Gen. Just my opinion. Thank the gods for PC where graphics will always win.
My interest in any console or handheld starts at 0. I don't hype for simple hardware or "what may be released". Only when appealing exclusives come out will I start considering getting any system. PS3 managed a pass, 3DS overdid its job, while PS4 and Xbone have nothing that interests me thus far.

Why did you bump a two year old thread?
Actually the arrival of the new consoles has got me interested in console gaming again. I've only bought 1 console game in the last year, year and a half. I'll probably get a PS4 or XB1 in spring.
To be honest i have, i am not going to bother with the XB1 or the Ps4, getting a wii-U eventually to play Windwaker and the new Zelda and Mario and maybe a few others if Nintendo release some real Gems But i decided to Get a high powered Tablet next year instead of a console
I dont care for the weaker, more expensive, xbl fee riddled, kinect spy cam tacked on xbone
Plus with the way Microsoft tried to take away gamers rights, im NEVER trusting Microsoft again. Never getting an xbone.
Truth be told I also dont have over 1,500$ to spend on a PC with comparable specs to a PS4. Price for power PS4 cant be beat. I also refuse to miss out on Playstation exclusives!
Its like this, why game on a PC this gen when you can buy a much cheaper PS4 that will likely get most of the PC exclusives and indies anyway (given how PS4 already has a lot of em at launch) plus will get exclusives the PC or xbone will never ever get etc
Im all over the PS4! Its the best option out there.
I cant wait for my PS4! Just about 20 days to go baby!
The PS4 is truly looking like something special! Its the gamers console - made by gamers for gamers! 100$ cheaper then xbone, yet 50% more powerful then xbone. Sony has been hitting on all the right notes and continues to! PS4 is a juggernaut!
Dare might I say the PS4 even has PS2 vibes of popularity in the air. PS4 is gonna be huge!
Killzone ShadowFall LOOKS miles better then anything on the xbone.Killzone is all I need for launch! So cant wait to play it. Im dying to play it!
Im also very excitied for Knack because it looks like a breath of fresh air. Plus we get all those indies!!?? Its like come on now!
Im happy about the launch of the PS4 and there is NOTHING on the xbone that makes me think twice about it. PS4 launch all the way.
But remember that Sony still has more games to announce too, so even if you dont like the launch line up, just know that games from the likes of the Naughty Gods (best developer in gaming) and Santa Monica and Media Molucule etc are coming!
Hell, next year Infamous and The Order are comimg to the PS4...and those games look MIND BLOWING....easily the two best most legit next gen games we know of yet....SO you wont have to wait long for greatness...might as well get PS4 now!
When Infamous drops, PS4 exclusives will ramp up, wont look back and will dominate until the end of the gen, just like how PS3 started kicking ass exclusive wise in 2008/2009 and never looked back since, but this time the PS4 is starting the ass kicking im exclusives much earlier!
When you buy a PS4 you know Sony will support it until the end, given history, as opposed to how Microsoft always drops support for their consoles half way into the gen in shady fashion.
You want proof. Look at PS3 exclusives released this year compared to the non existent 360 exclusives of this year lol
When a new gen comes, you have to think price power features and more importantly think long term. PS4 has the price power and features adavantages, and when you buy a PS4, its the best long term purchase you can make in gaming, given Sony's history of long term support and the pedigree of Playstation exclusive developers
If you call yourself a gamer and arent excitied for the PS4, you should probably quit gaming
Casharmy said it best about "threads" like these:
When I read your OP it translates to:
"xbox 1 does not excite me because it is trounced in every area by PS4 and because I am an xbox fanboy I will simply say that both consoles are bad to save face."
Or in threads like this they will hide behind the PC too
"If not being able to brag about your favorite console being the best has such an effect on you then should stop gaming and not blame the "console(s)" because you aren't much of a gamer."
PC has everything I need with prices you cannot beat..
For people who use desktop PCs for all of their needs, sure I agree
BUT for elitests who use PCs just for gaming? Nope, sirey! I dont think so!
A PS4 for its specs, gaming features, and gaming services costs 400$ (plus PS4 will get all those playstation exclusives you wont be able to get any where else)
It would cost YOU MUCH MUCH more to just even build a PC with comparable specs to a PS4. Price for power PS4 is unmatched
Just with online gaming. I looked at my recent players on XBL for example and it looks like I've played online maybe two times in the past year. Kinda sad.

WOW! I didn't know you got the PS4's entire library for free!
Not that it's a particularly large library though...
PC gaming is cheaper because multi-player is free. Games tend to be $20-30 cheaper, and come down in price faster. And it offer a better gaming experience than a crappy console.
This year alone, in AAA games I saved over $120 over someone getting these games on console. That's a lot of cash.

You know what i meant lol! Ive re-edited.
To build a PC with comparable specs to a PS4 it will cost you much more then the 400$ price point of the PS4. That much cant be denied
However when you say PC gaming costs less, thats not entirely true. Yes you are right about new games.
But you pay for the Steam service then you get games for less etc.
You pay for PSN+ and get FREE games, instant game collection, and discounts. Its a very close call. Playstation owners are getting just as a great a service as steam with PSN+
(Xboners are getting the short end of the stick AGAIN thanks to Microsoft's greed LOL)
Plus online multiplayer on PC is not really free. There are people paying for the servers, even fans have been stuck paying for servers so that MP on PC games can stay free etc. By the way, online MP on PS3 remains free
All things considered, a PS4 will cost much less, no upgrades will ever be needed, which upgrades add to the cost of PC significantly. PS4 set up will be easy, will have much more ease of use....and then there is also the comfort argument, playing on couch etc
Dont get me wrong, im not hating on PC gaming, im just telling it like it is, and giving examples why I dont like PC gaming. and why I still want a PS4 way way more then even the best gaming PC etc
