Halo was perfect for me when it first came out.tomarlyn
;-; your sig...
I loved that game so much.
Also: My perfect game: GOTCHA FORCEÂ
No game i've played has ever been perfect, but Age of Empires 2: The Conqueror's Expansion was close to me. Super Smash Bros. Melee was also close (the clone characters took it down).Â
The one game I consider absolute perfection is Chrono Trigger. I spend countless hours playing through it. Unlike other gmaes that have multiple endings, I feel compelled to complete them all. The last part that qualifies it is that I go back and play it over and over again. I play through at least once every few months. I just can't help myself. Each ime I enjoy the game at least as much as the previous time.
Despite all this, I do not consider it perfect for everybody. It just happens to be the perfect game for me.

I ask because it seems the standards in System wars are incredibly high. Screenshots, movies, and demos all seem to be crap. Even high scoring games seem to be crap to at least several people here. So I am just wondering, if games like MGS, Halo, Mario, Zelda, Kotor, Half life 2, GT4, and WoW are all crap, than what games are actually great?Sicknic
Good point.
It's flawed though, Halo:CE was a perfect game :) IMO, of course. I'm a fanboy lawl
gamig perfection was achieved in 2000 by ion storm. Deus ex on PC is essentially the perfect game imho. i could nit pick but it was an extreemly ambitious game that actually pulled it off. no game has beaten it since in terms of...well..everything.
unfortunately the sequal was a let down which leads me to believe that deus ex was a fluke. but dam what a fluke. i played it again a few weeks back and it still makes a mockery of everything else on the market imho.Â

Deus Ex was pretty amazing. Halo had the same affect on me. I got lost in Halo, and honestly thought it was pretty close to perfect. The gameplay, story, graphics, music, multiplayer, controls, physics, and fun factor were all there! After playing Halo 2 I was not only lead to believe that Halo was a fluke. It was! Bungie destroyed the very foundation, and threw us a crappy story.
Halo 3 will give them their last chance, but I have a feeling they'll dissapoint the fans of the first once again.:(Â My storyline and expectations could never be matched, which was what happened to Zelda:TP.
But the championship belt goes to Zelda:TOOT. That game had everthing, and captured a strong emotion as well.
Halo and Zelda are as close to perfection as games get for me. Since I love sim racers, I'm hoping that Forza 2 can do the same.
The bottom line is that excellent games only come around every once in a while, and if they happen to be your cup of tea, then they may end up being the perfect game.
Good post BTW.:)
