One of my NESs broke. Luckily, I had a cousin who no longer wanted his, so I got that off him for free. Now I have one functioning NES, and one for parts, in case the other goes down, as well.
Other than that, I've never had the slightest problem with any Nintendo hardware product.
i've had a game boy since '89 that still works as good as the day i got it
+ SNES, N64, gamecube & DS phat that still works a-ok, had most of them since lauch as well
cant say the same about the 3 playstations and 2 PS2's ive gone through
My GBA (old style) down button broke, but that was because I probably abused it. I then used my brother's, because he didn't play games much, so it was okay. Of course, now I don't need it because I have a DS. Consoles are the only ones that are bad if they break down after you get a new one because they are less likely to be backward compatible.
Never had a Nintendo Console/Handheld break down on me. I messed up a lot of my controllers though.linkhero1
i only ever smashed 1 controller for the N64 (thatwas 3rd party) by throwing it off the wall. my official 1s seemed to survive it, but i coulda just threw the 3rd 1 a bit harder than usual
About a month and a half ago,my Wii broke because of corrupted system memory, and I was unable to play any games on it.I sent it to Nintendo, then about two days after I got it back,it broke down again. It just kept freezing, but I could get it to play a game every once in a while.I sent it to Nintendo to be fixed(again) earlier this week.
My NES did after a good while, like 6 years. I abused it to keep it going though until the SNES came out by blowing on it, actually worsening the problem by oxidizing the connectors even more.
But other than that no.

I've never smashed any of my controllers but almost all my N64 joystiqs are screwed up and one of my gamecube joystiqs are screwed up. I'm trying hard not to screw up any of my wiimotes :PMy NES broke. I've had my 360 for over a year and nothing's happened, I'm not really too worried about it.Conanfan1
lol @ your sig.
My SNES was returned to me from my cousin's kids broken. The power button was missing.
My Nintendo 64's 1st player controller socket stopped working for some reason.
My Gamecube had audio problems the day I started playing it.
So far my Wii has frozen up on me...once. Not a good sign.

My Gamecube did, but that was my brother's fault. He pretty much smashed it every time I beat him in Mario Party.
My N64 went through rough beatings as well, but it never broke down :P
But my goodness Nintendo, what the **** is wrong with the controller?!

Well MS probably just contracts the lowest bidder to make the hardware for them. They designed an alright hardware package but really dropped the ball on the actual system design. Poor cooling frys the system and that power brick is just retarded. Nintendo always takes care to make a reliable tough system.... but they've never made anything on the cutting edge of technology either. And the Wii is so ancient and weak it's a joke. Probably could even make it a portable right now.

If you have any problems with your Wii Remote or Nunchuck call Nintendo. I had a problem with one of my Wii Remotes, it happened after my little cousin was playing Wii Sports Baseball very often, and he moved around a lot while swinging, he would hit my Wii Remote against the bed frame or dresser. I believed he broke the motion sensor, because it could only sense like 90 degrees of tilt. (If I tilted anymore the hand cursor on the Wii Menu would disappear, and so other games would never even read it. After going through some troubleshooting with the rep from Nintendo, they replaced it for free. :D Even if it was my fault.Just thought I'd say, that for Wii, yes. However if you refer to back then on the GC, N64, SNES, or NES than no. Nintendo always played it by power and had the most powerful platform in the race. Except against MS, but they never were under powered.Well MS probably just contracts the lowest bidder to make the hardware for them. My nes quit working after about 7 years, thats what made me buy an snes
my SNES fell off a dresser, and had a big chunk of plastic missing, but still ran like a champ

my sega saturn and ps1 worked flawlessly up until the day i sold em for dreamcast/ps2 money
my n64 worked up to the day i sold it for a ps2
my first ps2 died after about 3 years, my second got kicked off a table after about 2 and died, sold my 3rd after getting a ps3
my first psp died in a tragic firmware incident, the umd drive on my second is dead
my 360 has run problem free for 1 year, 4 months, my wii has run problem free for 7 months, my DS problem free for 7 months, and my dreamcast problem free for over 7 years now.
all in all, sega ftw
I haven't had anything majorly go wrong with my N64, NGC and Wii.
The Wii has freezed on the Wii Channel a couple of times, that's it.
My SNES was returned to me from my cousin's kids broken. The power button was missing.
My Nintendo 64's 1st player controller socket stopped working for some reason.
My Gamecube had audio problems the day I started playing it.
