I agree about MGS4, that was a crap attempt at stealth. It wasn't even stealth thanks to respawning enemies.Â
Hitman Absolution wasn't really either, it could have been but they botched some of the mechanics. But I would agree otherwise, they seem to have the right idea about it and hopefully the new thief is as good as it's sounding and not just PR sweet talk.Â
Also are Eidos actually a dev or just a publisher? aren't they part of SE now?Â

I found stealth in Absolution to be decent, the only thing that really messed it up was the respawning enemies after checkpoint retrying. For example, there was this level where one of the challenges asked me to save a guard being interrogated by two enemies, I wanted to do it without killing anyone, and it was pretty hard. Still, after a few tries I managed to pull it off, saved the guard and silently neutralized the whole floor, then proceeded to activate the checkpoint. That felt good, but some time after I got to the checkpoint I was detected and had to retry. When I did, I came back to the upper floor, and all the enemies were respawned, the guard still being interrogated. It killed a lot of immersion for me. Even though I pulled off that challenge, I still felt all my work and planning has gone to waste.

As for the TC, I'm just done with Deus Ex HR replay, Pacifist unlocked, no one has been killed, and no alarms were activated. So yeah, Eidos is definitely one of the best stealth game devs this gen, looking forward to more of their work like Thief, and hopefully another Deus Ex game! :)
