all this outcry about mirror's edge 2 being canned. where did all these mirrors edge fans come from? where were all of you when the first game came out and bombed?

I have a feeling mirror's edge is going to become the next 'beyond good & evil'in that its going to become an obscure, critically-acclaimed title that's a hipster favorite

cult classic would be a good word to describe it, but not hipster games lol. I like ME and want a sequel. As for the other games on that list, I just bought Minecraft which isnt really a cult classic if you consider that it has sold about 1.6 million copies.

Hipsters? What decade are we in again? Anyways Mirror's Edge never bombed in it's fans eyes. It was criminally underrated.

This, it was a fun experience that despite its problems brought the platformer into the CoD generation.

I just hope someone picks up on the idea as it was an incredible experience.

To be honest, I never understood all the love for it. I thought it was a terrible game. And I also don't understand where all these "fans" came from. When the game came out, there wasn't much praise for it, why is there all the praise now?

It's still in first person view, so unique or not, it's really just an unplayable game.

Then why can I play it? It has a learning curve but that doesn't make it unplayable if you have any patience.

Mirrors Edge has issues and is far from perfect, but is an immersive and unique experience that has SO much potential, which is why I want a sequel badly.

At launch it was $50 for a sp only game thats only 7 hours long an awesome 7 hours but only still not worth full price imo. S couple of weeks later copeis are going for $5 on amazon.com for the pc version how could i pass that up? Turned out to be one of them sot enjoyable and unique gaming experience I've had ever, So to sum it up most the people who played it likely did so once it dropped in price alot.

Mirror's Edge was a great game. It just didn't sell because combat was difficult. If combat were easier, the game would have sucked, but it probably would have sold better.

I thought it was a decent game, but definitely nothing too special, the 1st person parkour element was interesting, though nothing else really was. If you want a really good platformer, look no further than littlebigplanet...lol

I really dont know what happened with ME. The demo released and it was hyped like crazy, everyone loved it. Thought it was going to be the next Bioshock in terms of a demo generating alot of hype but then the game released and it seemed like most people hated it. I loved it.

I do agree with you in that where the hell have all these fans suddenly came from?

Combat wasn't hard just give them jump kick followed by some punches and pick up the weapon they drop to take out any other enemies in the vicinity. gun play was fine guns did enough damage and where accurate enough imo,

I liked the game quite a bit, however I think they coulda made it more than a one trick pony.. I'm glad Brink is taking it's ideas and adding good gunplay/objectives to it, not sure how much fun there is in it's parkour bits, with them saying something about automation...

People don't just like it because it didn't prove a commercial success. A lot of people actually liked it, and with good reason - it's a great game, it just doesn't appeal to everyone. It'd be a shame if there wasn't a sequel because if they improved on the weaker areas of the first game, it would really be something special. ... In fact, you've made me want to go and play it right now...

One of those awesome games I overlooked at the time, and has fallen off my radar.

I'm gonna go bargain bin shopping and buy it tonight.

Also, how can you make a "Hipster gamer" poll without including Legend Of Zelda? :S Those massive D-bags are the reason I hate that series now.

Just like Beyond Good and Evil it is an OK game. I don't go mad over it, I found Beyond Good and Evil almost child like in difficulty, you can't fail in it, if you die you just roll over stand up and get going again it's even worse then that Prince of persia game. I didn't see all the character depth they are talking about, I mean there is a bit where orphens are getting stolen and jade does an unhappy face and suddenly it's an Oscer winning performance. The game did have character however, it was compelling to complete and a pretty decent rental.

Mirrors Edge was fantastic gameplay, loved the pace of the game, hated the cutscenes, so cheap and tacky.

Well jeez you took that wrong haha, it's a good series and the actual fans are gamers, but I hate the hipsters who think it's sent from god, and yet have never played any other game. They played Ocarina Of Time for 2 hours and suddenly know everything about the game. THOSE are the D-bags I'm talking about. We all know of one.

Like many people, I was always interested in playing the game but it's very short length and complaints about the shooting portions kept me from picking it up until it went on a steep sale. Even the biggest fans of ME agree that the game had a lot of squandered potential due to bad design choices which is also the reason why people want a second game (it would be what ME1 should have been). Anyway, hipster games are never current gen. They're always retro games, and the hipsters have rarely actually played them to any significant extent. Probably the best example is Super Mario Bros. It's been my experience that anyone you find wearing T-shirts with SMB mushrooms or the NES controller, or sporting stickers of said things on their Macbooks, has in fact never played SMB and is just some guy going "Hey guys, look at me! I'm SO retro and such a nerd lol!"

Im a Mirrors edge fan, and what the hell is this?

The surge of fans is likely through the gap of time with steady price drops. Patiently awaiting actual good news possibly concerning a sequel, and fixing some of the problems the, otherwise amazing, first entry had.

Really, if they addressed all of the complaints, the second game wouldn't be as good. The combat portions were weak, but the whole point of the game was to avoid combat. Improving the gunplay would do nothing but make the game easier, thus giving you less incentive to run. The only thing that really needed fixed with the first game was the incredibly short length and poor story.

Mirrors Edge to me is another in a long line of games that deserve a sequel for one reason: They were fun, but flawed. Mirrors Edge had a lot of potential, buuut it let itself down in a fair few aspects. Same goes for games like Prototype and Saints Row (which was fixed in the sequel). I personally think all games deserve a second chance and that I'd rather see a sequel to Mirrors Edge than another Bad Company game which will play the same as the previous one with a couple of tweaks. If you make a critical, commercial sucess first time, you're hardly going to evolve the formula for the sequel, which sucks for us as gamers, if I wanted to play the same game again I'd just play the first game (Note: I'm talking about if they made a Bad Compay 3 by the way. In fact Bad Company is a good example of fun but flawed, look how much Bad Company 2 improved over the first game). If a developer's game is flawed the second time around a publisher is less likely to green light the idea unless they promise big changes, and the team would know that if they didn't deliver on those promises they'd be in deep **** so they have to try harder and actually put new stuff into their game.

I'd say Minecraft, I think Mirror Edge is such a bad game, it's so boring, only good thing is the art style and graphics and even the former gets tedious half way through. It's short, and even then I found it hard to keep playing it.

In case you weren't paying attention while you were playing the game, most of the time you had no one chasing after you and no threat of combat. The combat is loathed so much because the game's controls were not suited at all for combat. You controlled like a car, not a person, which was fine when you're just jumping across buildings but not so fine when you're trying to quickly dodge a guy with a gun. Melee'ing enemies was pretty ineffective, especially later in the game where you'd most likely be dead by the time you got in melee range of a guy. You could take their guns and shoot them, but that killed the pacing of the game and the gun controls were outright terrible.

Hipster what?! I really can't imagine anybody playing this game while grooving out to some Bob Dylan records. But yeah, it's limited but favorable praise does give it a cult like following.

What? No You're hilariously wrong OP. The only thing gaming related that hipsters trend to is anything vaguely nostalgic, namely NES, Mario and Zelda. Mirror's Edge doesn't have that many vocal fans, just people who appreciate it for what it is.... despite the games serious flaws.

for a game that focused on running and leaping from building to building, it sure had alot of objects to get in my way. plus, you were at the mercy of your enimes if you got stuck... a meh game with a really cool concept. if there's a mirrors edge 2, I hope they can make it shine.

EDIT: also I can't wait to play beyond good and evil when it comes to the PSN. it looks really cool :)
