The era of 'exclusives' being a driving factor are over. The majority of the really big games of 2011 and 2012 aren't 'exclusives'. KC_Hokie

Yeah, they won't be if the platform you game on doesn't have any exclusives worth playing, that much is obvious. For gamers whose platforms do get amazing exclusives, they are just as relevant as ever.

Were they referring to exclusives with regards to that comment TC? There are plenty of "hardcore" multiplats, but MS haven't had much of a focus on exclusives in a while.

Zelda SS, a motion controlled game, is getting 10/10 all around

strange stuff, arent all motion control games for casuals ?

Funny that one of the best games this generation is actually a motion contolled game

I would like to read the TC view on the matter

I mean dimissing 16 xbox 360 exclusives like the dont exist because of motion controls, yet Zelda SS, a motion control game is one of the best this generation, if not the very best

They're chasing dollars like the rest of them, look at Nintendo they went casual and make piles of green... MS want to do this as well.JohnF111

Nintendo is also posting their first annual lost ever because their market strategy wasn't sustainable.

With the 360 you have Kinect for kids/anybody who wants to use it (Dance Central is pretty popular amongst college age groups), you have all the multiplats + whatever exclusives they get that appeal to the main demographic of gamers (roughly 14-30 years of age I imagine), on occasion it gets niche shmups, and JRPGs (which it did at one point get exclusively) for that crowd of gamers, you have a mass of entertainment features through XBL that appeal to a crowd of people who crave that tech under their tv, and then you have XBLA which blows both PSN and WiiWare out of the water.

Microsoft has a much more sustainable strategy as it stands for a console in today's market in comparison to the Wii. Nintendo is going to have to make huge changes if it wants the Wii U to be successful that's for sure, but if the 3DS is any indication of how far seperated Nintendo is from the market then who knows? Will we get a controller that sucks? Will the online still be awful (the 3DS still uses friend codes.....)? Will Nintendo continue to not support localization of its titles?

They could easily EASILY pull themselves back, but Nintendo keeps making bad decisions. I don't get it.

Hey, there's a distinct difference between wanting to relax playing video games whilst working out at other times (gym/running/sports/etc) and doing a portion of that exercise whilst gaming. I would rather be a part of the former :P

Why not both.... ultimatly the goal is to immerse you fully. while its very primitive even now... despite PC having the best graphics for immersion all we are doing is this:

Where to aim?

sadly by the time this is the norm we will probably be old and unable ... but fitness and activeness can increase immersion, when done right. sadly I dont think kinect and wii-mote are anywhere near as both are highly abusable.

I don't wanna

Personally, it doesn't appeal to me. That being said, once we get something tactile and immersive from it, my opinion could change. As it stands, waving my arms and running with Kinect, just doesn't do it for me :P

Is there anything but shovelware wii like games remaining for the 360?

tenaka2
Statements like this simultaneously make me laugh and roll my eyes. The Wii literally had nothing but shovelware outside of a few gems, because there was no third party support for the system, no multipats that would fill the void between one big Nintendo title to the next, leaving the system to die a painful death under the onslaught of shovelware. Xbox, no matter where Microsoft's first party efforts shift to, continues to GET ALL THE MULTIPLATS, NONE OF WHICH ARE SHOVELWARE. It just got Dark Souls, Battlefield 3, Arkham City and Rage, and is getting Modern Warfare 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Skyrim and Halo Anniversary. Are ANY OF THOSE SHOVELWARE? This is all in addition to the lone exclusive like Forza 4 and Gears 3. Seriously guys. I'm critical of the direction Microsoft is going in myself, but will you all please stop blowing things out of proportion?

MS seems to be marketing their console as a living room entertainment hub, with Kinect at the centre.

Sony appears to be focussing on increasing market share in the console and handheld markets.

It's almost as if they swapped places from the beginning of this gen. Sony certainly marketed the PS3 as an entertainment hub, whilst the 360 was all about the games.

[QUOTE="PC360Wii"][QUOTE="ActionRemix"]Here's a list of PS3 exclusives someone on this site might actually buy: The Last Guardian Starhawk Sly Cooper Papa and Yo TekkenActionRemix
...... I see 1 I would even consider. what now? :P.... but then I could say the same for xbox. I love my PC :)

Last Guardian is pretty much a lock for me. Maybe Starhawk. Maybe Papa and Yo. Maybe Dragons Curse. I know Sly Cooper and Tekken have fans here. There's more exclusives, but I just put down the ones that I know aren't just exclusive filler. That 360 list though...has anyone even heard of the vast majority of them? I don't know what PC exclusives are upcoming other than the ones I can run on my laptop.

Whats in your laptop?

And you can play all 2012 Kinect games on the couch, you just need to wave your right or both hands, depending on the game, like in Zelda SS

Fable has been confirmed playable sitting down

Ryse and Steel Batallion are hybrid games too

In Draco you control the dragon with the hands and there is no jumping or anything too

Why would all Kinect games be the same, not all games are sports

People hate on games like COD, and Halo, and say it lacks creativity and is destroying the industry....

If anything, these games are saving the industry right now, becasue they are a constant reminder the hardcore titles still bring in the big bucks when it becomes a hit.

We should hate on all this shovelware for kinect, move and the Wii. These games are what will destroy the industry as we know it.. .

They will never admit it but they have definitely pushed core gamers to the side, because they know where the money is now. Casual gamers ate up Kinect and all its shovelware so MS is going to keep making more for them. I'm not saying we aren't going to get our Forzas, Gears and Halos, but new IP's geared toward the core aren't looking too promising. Maybe next gen this will change, i sure hope so.

xXCombatWombat
This is why I won't buy anymore consoles from here on unless they change back to previous gen attitudes. I'll just keep gaming on my PC.

LOL! I like playing on my bed, which is part of why laptop gaming is good for me.

Intel Core i7-720QM (6M Cache, 2.80 GHz) NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M with 1GB DDR3 4GB DDR3 RAM I like a lot of indie games. The PC games that are shown off in graphics threads do not appeal to me. I mostly use it to play older gen games. It can run most multiplats from this gen at high settings, too. I just bought SF4 AE and it nearly maxes it. I typically get multiplats for my PS3, but for this game I wanted portability.

Oh just wondering since you said PC games other then ones your laptop could run I was going to list some games like WarFace, X Rebirth, and ArmA 3, which is far as I am aware of for the being the most technical PC only games in 2012.

It seems like they are trying to get us back by integrating kinect into windows and XBL. I think they said they might even make some PC exclusives but I'm sure it ain't happening.

While I think the term "hardcore" gamer is a joke, I do agree that MS isn't giving thier fans what they want. It's all about Kinect nowand watered down PC ports, with a dash of Halo here and there.

When you think about it the only Hardcore gamers are ones who will play anything and try to enjoy it rather than find faults and hate it, so in essence Casuals are actually the Hardcore gamers... When you talk about competitions for the best gamers then they are Professional gamers not really hardcore.

Agreed, like I certainly have my prefrences as we all do. But I will enjoy a game on any system as long as I'm having fun with it, and that's all that matters. It's kind of like on xbox live with the gamerzones that people have (they don't really do anything though) and some people set their zone to "pro" which I find funny, unless they get paid to play games or something than your not a "pro" gamer. Game reviewers and tournament players are the only people who should be considered "pro" since they get paid to play games, it's just a hobby for everyone else.

I want to ask you guys again, what's a "hardcore" game? Gears 3? Calla doody? There are millions of 12 and 13 year olds playing those games. You run and shoot and duck behind stuff. OOOOH SO HARDCORE. Is uncharted 3 a "hardcore" game? Cinematics, linear level designs, simple puzzles and boring gameplay.

I don't think they have..... it's because there is plenty of 3rd party games being made for them to worry about making exclusives. Instead they ust make kinect games for the casual gamers.

I think some games require more dedication and skill level than others, but I don't consider them "hardcore" either lol. Just more challenging and complex games that attract some people who like a challenge and want to be tested ect... Doesn't make them "hardcore" lol.

They're definitely putting less emphasis on them. Why? Because they're not worth it.ActionRemix
