Yeah, they have. I gave up on them during the GCN era, after Wind Waker and Metroid Prime came out. I remember there being a massive drought so I jumped ship for Xbox, and now game exclusively on PC. It's a shame, too; Wind Waker is still my favorite game. If they start making that quality in a bit more quantity, I'll happily return.
It's got a lot of solid games. It's got a lot of mediocre, cash-in games.
Just avoid the mediocre cash-ins and you're fine.

true, but it is easily the worst of the ninty consoles though right. I like em all but i can't see it being that great
Not at all. I appreciate their gamble with motion controls.
Plus, even though they are late to the party regarding online and additional storage, they seem to respond to what people want, albeit slowly.
I wish they were more aggressive with new titles of older IPs, such as Pikmin, Star Fox, Kirby, Kid Icarus, Mario Golf.
What really really disappointed me was the rehashing of Mario Tennis. Apparently the controls were just simply tacked on and there is just no excuse for that. A whole new title should have been made, and now that they rehashed it doesn't sound like we'll get one soon.

You make a good observation because that is one of the mistakes Nintendo said they did: not haveing any releasing strategy and building no momentum between games. That massive drought hurt them.

No way. The Wii pretty much destroys the gamecube. Not at all. I'm happy because I have alot of Wii titles I like and Nintendo Still makes tons of quality titles.
wii games are not perfect but they are more fun than any 360 game

ya, the worst nintendo console is better than the 360 i agree.

I don't know if it's the worst. I think it does some good things, like the inclusion of the motion controls.
I did like the N64 better however, though the GC was on par IMHO.
In a word.. Yes.
Okay a bit more :P for instance, I'd be even more pumped for a Zelda coming out on a Wii that's equal to what 360/PS3 are capable of.

No way. The Wii pretty much destroys the gamecube. In terms of Nintendo games yes it does Nintendo is releasing 1st Party titles on the Wii at a faster pace then they did for the whole generation on the GCN. I love the GCN it is still my favorite console of all time but Nintendo released more quality first party titles in the first 2 and a half years on the Wii then they did in five years on the GCN.[QUOTE="mariokart97"]

now that i think of it,the wiiis probably the most innavative motion controls and all but not as many solid titles. agree about the n64 and gamecube though

I haven't played too many Wii games up until this point (recent purchase), so i'll wait to see some more good games. I like the motion control inclusion, as it'll hopefully branch out and offer more immersion through future gens.
I gave up on Ninty after SNES.. .that was the last Nintendo console that offered real JRPGs When PS1 came out with a few dozen top notch rpgs vs. zero rpgs on the n64, and ps1 had all the 3rd party support and mature titles, that was when i said goodbye nintendo, and haven't' bought a nintendo console till this gen the wii, which I already sold, I bought the thing when I was drunk ... (long story)Midnightshade29The DS has the best jrpgs this gen.
To be quite honest there are some great games on the Nintendo Wii and some not so great. With how limited the number of great games this system have, it is kind of disappointed with the lack of variety of games it have in my opinion. But that is not my main concern, my main concern with Nintendo is the pricing of their first party game; no I don't mean the fifty dollar price tag when it hit store shelve but the fifty dollar price tag after so many years have gone by. The same hold true with how they operate with their handheld games.
I haven't been a fan of Nintendo for a long time. But still, to put all the blame of the current state of the Wii's game library on them is kind of unfair. All developers who've made a game for the Wii are equally responsible.
Wii has also been out for half the time of the other consoles. If they manage to get Zelda Wii out then that means Wii will have had 2 main Marios, 2 main Metroids and 2 main Zelda games. That's a hell of a lot of first party love. I think the main difference is the innovative third party software, Gamecube had games like Eternal Darkness, which tried something new and succeeded. Wii has a ton of games that try something new but the difference is that a lot of them haven't succeeded. That being said there's still been a vast amount that have, and that are great games, like No More Heroes and Zack and Wiki.bobbetybobEternal Darkness was First Party Nintendo owned the IP and Silicon Knights had a contract to make Nintendo Exclusives that was up after they made MGS Twin Snakes. But your point still stands if you replace Eternal Darkness with another game preferably a GCN 3rd Party title like Viewtiful Joe (I know it got ported to the PS2 but it still did things new and succeeded.)

Oh yeah forgot about that, it was just the first game that came to mind, yeah Viewtiful Joe or Killer 7 would probably have been a better example come to think of it.[QUOTE="bobbetybob"]Wii has also been out for half the time of the other consoles. Very much so. The Wii, the DS, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the entire "revolution" of gaming. But no one is incapable of redemption. I just don't see it being very likely.
The BIG difference is that MS and Sony does their best to get great exclusives by funding and supporting devs. Nintendo just does nothing to support other devs. Even worse, just look at Fatal Frame IV not releasing in NA. The thing is MS and Sony don't fund or support devs, they simply buy up exclusives, there's a big difference. The only case I've seen of either of them supporting a non first party dev is with Sony helping out on Bayonetta, but even then that's only too make the game sell more on their console. At the end of the day it's still down to a developer as to wether a game sells or not through advertising and other means. I quite like Nintendo's strategy of simply letting developers who want to make a Wii game make one, rather than buying up exclusive rights to sequels or whatever and then forcing it to work on the Wii resulting in the kind of results you get with most multiplats.[QUOTE="bobbetybob"]Wii has also been out for half the time of the other consoles. The BIG difference is that MS and Sony does their best to get great exclusives by funding and supporting devs. Nintendo just does nothing to support other devs. Even worse, just look at Fatal Frame IV not releasing in NA. This is the point that I was going to bring up. Nintendo have not disappointed me, though their first party titles have played it considerably safe, but I do wish they were more cohesive as a company, and support third parties more. Disaster, Fatal Frame, Excite Bots - with a bit more support, these games could have fully realised their potential, been released worldwide, and become hits. All they needed was support. Things seem to be shaping, up though, what with the collaboration with Treasure, Sandlot and Team Ninja. Then there are Retro, Next Level and Monster Games' projects we know nothing about, Project Sakurai too, oh and the support given to SE with Dragon Quest 10. I dont think Nintendo are going to intentionally leave a dry period for third parties again, not after the failure that was that experiment. Rather, they will have a hand in as much as possible to drive their own console, whether its first party of heavily supported third parties.[QUOTE="bobbetybob"]Wii has also been out for half the time of the other consoles. I fail to see how they failed compared to last gen. They did better this gen. Wii has more great FIRST party titles compared to GC (Zelda Wii, Metroid Other M, and SMG2 not mentioning the already released nintendo Wii titles) and as for DS, enough said. DS>GBA and Wii>DS.They did last gen, so this gen I had 0 expectations, and they stil dissapointed me.
Eddie-Vedder
For the most part yes. The Gamecube was my system of choice for multiplats and such last gen, but wow I don't even touch the Wii anymore. I am still going to keep it when those rare gems come out and I need to play them, but I havent played my Wii since Galaxy.

From Amazon I bought a:
Nintendo Wii
Wii play with additional controller
additional nunchuck
4bg sd card
Truma center
House of the dead 2&3
Wii fit % balance board
EA Sports active
Wiimote chargers
balance board charger
it all set me back approx £330 (all new)
It all arrived on the 4th of August 2009.................................................................................6th August the last time I played on the wii.
NINTENDO HAVE REALLY LET ME DOWN. they could have just released the wiimote for the gamecube
dare I ask... why do you find the ds a let down?Very much so. The Wii, the DS, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the entire "revolution" of gaming. But no one is incapable of redemption. I just don't see it being very likely.

Unlike the wii it actually has a balanced library of good first and third party games.
Yes, because the whopping amount of software you have bought for the system is really indicative of its quality. On August the 1st 2009
