Has ps3 finally shown its more graphically capable then 360?

It is but people don't realise this because of the art-style, halo 3 is colourful, killzone 2 is a going for a more darker, realistic look.

Isn't art direction one of the biggest elements of graphics? Would Gears of War be what it is without an art direction?

it's a fact that about90% of the multiplats are better on the 360. it's very easy to compere them and easier to claim ownage

if a version of the same game on the 360, 360 wins and the other way too. so far 360 is dominatig graphics, gameplay and online!

Agreed, i've even downloaded the trailer of PSN and watched it on a 1080p tv and although it looks great, its not equal to the CGI trailer.

On another note, i also got the new MGS4 trailer off PSN, and i'm really unimpressed with the graphics, the character models look ace but the environments are terrible, even Resistance environments look alot better.

It would be nice to see some other environments from KZ2 other than dark gritty streets and buildings (which is all we've seen so far). It should be more like COD4 which has shown quite a nice variety of environmentsalready.

I'm not saying KZ2 won't have lots of different environments but if it doesn't then it could get fairly repetative.

nah i dont think its shown its better than the 360 graphicaly thats impossible due to its gpu and last time i checked thats what does the graphics..

now physics and other stuff is another question and killzone shows to have these things looking good especialy the lighting and shadows cast all over the place when your blasting and enemy in the darker areas....resistence had this down and killzone looks to be even better!!

but no graphicaly it has'nt but its still gaining ground but i dont ever expect it to surpass the 360 graphics wise.the textures let it down mostly.

consoles games in general are beginning to look real good.

Its still too early. 360 should be hittign its graphics stride right now, and PS3 just got started. Maybe by end of next year we will have a more decisive winner. What these games do show however, is that all the talk about RSX being so much weaker than the 360 GPU is pretty much crap.

I agree RE5 looks better then KZ2... But we didn't see game play yet (or atleast I didn't)... And that is a multiplat title.

Halo 3>>>KZ2 for me, its like gears no colours really, and the textures are bad, as well as halo 3 will be on a bigger scale. And Halo 3s AI looks really good to me as well

But KZ2 could improve since its only in Pre - Alpha and has a while to go

PS3 hardware isnt very new- its 2 years old- devs have had dev kits since '05- so they've had plenty of time to work on it.

The PS3 will never display graphics better than 360, reason being the 360's GPU is better than PS3's.

they look good in the sense that they can have more things going on with incredible physics and even more polygons than the 360.

textures is it's main problem though. Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Killzone2 and even MGS4 show this. Thsi doesn't mean the games look bad though.. look at Ratchet and clank: very few high res textures, and the game looks absolutely stunning.

The PS3 certainely hasn't wowed me this E3.

Killzone 2 looks better than I expected, but still nothing truly mindblowing and I don't feel it lived up to the CGI trailer.

CoD4 is looking better than Killzone 2, and personally, I'm loving how Mass Effect looks more than Killzone aswell.

Crysis is still running out front in terms of graphics, and as for Halo 3, I think it looks better than most people are giving it credit for, but it too is nothing mindblowing. It needs some more polish graphically maybe but in terms of gameplay it's looking very fun and superior to Killzone 2.

Please stop lying to yourself. I've said it looks amazing numerous times, but it does, in no way, look equal to the CGI trailer.

Also..no..one games proves nothing. The same question, however reversed, could had been asked when Gears of War was released. We will never reach an answer that concludes this discussion till this generation is over. Simply because we do not know how much more capable each of the consoles are. All formats still have a lot of juice left to be squized.

I agree. However, we have yet to see any 2008 games from MS, so we don't know what they will look like (especially the big hitters like Gears 2).

I think people should check out the Mass Effect Stage demo. It's under Mass Effect videos. It looks amazing. When they go into conversation with that one alien near the elevatior, the alien's face looked so damn good. And they said it was running real-time. Wow.

Just to mention a few other games that look better:

Assassin's Creed (still in Beta I think, and once some of the graphical glitches and the floating bodies are fixed (although that seemed pretty isolated to that one case) it will look stunning.

Halo 3 (many different press sources have said that the singleplayer graphics are just out of this world and quite a few sources have mentioned that Halo 3 looks very close to Crysis)

Bioshock (what more can I say. I can take a screenshot of the game and put it up on the wall and it will look like a painting. that's how beautiful it is).
