Has Sony actually done anything meaningful so far this gen?

I didn't say that MS has exciting exclusives but we're talking about Sony, not MS (or Nintendo for that matter) in this thread and their exclusive situation is truly dire at the moment, though it should improve somewhat next year.

Nintendo is a companion console because they have almost no third party support, not because their exclusives are not diverse. I would argue that their exclusives are somewhat diverse when you break it down:

Super Mario 3D Land (3D platformer)

New Super Mario Bros U (2D platformer)

Super Mario Maker (while this is a partially a 2D platformer, it's mostly a set of creation tools)

Yoshi's Wooly World (2D platformer)

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (2D platformer)

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (puzzle)

Bayonetta 2 (hack and slash/beat em up)

Xenoblade Chronicles X (RPG)

Pikmin 3 (RTS)

The Wonderful 101 (action/strategy mish mash. in any case, this is a really unique game)

Splatoon (competitive online third person shooter)

Super Smash Bros Wii U (fighter)

Mario Kart 8 (racer)

Lego City Uncover (sandbox-style action similar to GTA)

Admittedly there's too many 2D platformers (and I think that Nintendo needs FPS representation), but that's a pretty wide variety of genres represented. What makes it even better is that a few of these games (namely Bayonetta and MK8) are the among the cream of their crop in their genres. On PS4, the only particularly noteworthy exclusive is Bloodborne.

I would say another weakness of the Wii U's line up is that it leans too heavily on established franchises, but I'd rather have extremely quality experiences that are from established franchises than mediocre new IPs that don't do anything new anyway (The Order, Knack, Driverclub) or terrible new entries in established IPs (Killzone: Shadowfall).

The Wii U's library is shit, but that's because there's no third party. It's exclusives are very high quality despite the lack of ambition (which is a huge problem I have with current Nintendo). Can't say the same for the PS4. It's purely a multiplat machine. A very good multiplat machine, mind you, but I need some exclusives that they don't blow before I purchase one.

Above all, at least there is quality stuff in that line up. Unlike the abysmal PS4 exclusive line up that features such gems as The Order, Knack, Killzone: Shadowfall, and Driveclub. lol.

LOL! Wonderful 101, Yoshi Wolly World, Nintendo Land, Hyrule Warriors, New Super Luigi U, Wii U Sports club, Dr. Luigi are such a gems. Nintendo has "bad" games too.

Haha. Wonderful 101 is not even remotely bad. New Super Luigi Wii U is also not bad. I guess you could make an argument for Hyrule Warriors being bad (since it's basically Dynasty Warriors; I didn't list it because it's not an exclusive anymore) and Yoshi Wooly World is most likely mediocre. Also, Nintendo Land/Wii U Sports Club are not inherently bad; just not most hardcore gamers cup of tea. The difference is that the Wii U also has a lot of top shelf stuff (Bayonetta 2 is possibly the greatest hack and slash ever made and Mario Kart 8 is the easily the best MK game ever and one of the best arcade racers; Smash is an excellent fighter and Super Mario 3D Land is a great 3D platformer). The PS4 doesn't. Bloodborne is amazing and Infamous seems decent (and is visually beautiful), but the staples of PS4's line up are weak as hell. No getting around it. The sooner you admit this to yourself, the happier you'll be lol.

Haha! Killzone is not even remotely bad, decent SP and MP campaign. Driveclub is awesome racer. Game had a broken online at the beginning, but SP campaign is great. With later updates, game is even better. Season pass is great. Knack is a really challenging platfomer, especially on hard difficulty. The Order is mediocre to majority of gamers. But game has top notch graphics and great shooting mechanics. The difference is that the PS4 has also a lot of top shelf stuff. Bloodborne is a bad-ass game. One of the best in recent years. MLB are damn good baseball game. One of the best sports game ever. Until Dawn is a great horror game with many different endings. Every your decision affect further progress in game. The Wii U doesn't. Donkey Kong is amazing, and Lego City Undercover is decent. but the staples of Wii U lineup is pure shit. Mario, Mario, Mario, Luigi, Mario....and suddenly Toad from nowhere. Well, waiting for some princess Peach game. Hopefully.

Actually, the Wii U has the highest rated exclusives of all three consoles. Exclusive library is different from overall library.

Also, Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Super Smash Bros. Wii U are not the same game. They are different iterations in the same franchise. The content of each version is vastly different. That is why the 3DS Smash Bros is called "Super Smash Brothers for 3DS" and the Wii U Smash Bros is "Super Smash Brothers for Wii U." But even if you took away Smash Bros, the Wii U's exclusives still clown the PS4's.

If SharePlay really works wonders, I'll commend Sony for it. Though, outside of that, I feel like they haven't done much. Mainly because their current exclusive lineup isn't very mindblowing. And most of the mindlowing stuff that's coming out for PS4 are not directly made by Sony. (some are, but most are not) Maybe things will change, but....Oh well. Just my two cents. Spend it as you wish.
