I boot up steam today and this is the first game.

  • - Seedy cartoon games
  • - Greenlight games with unity asset flips
  • - Ability for terrible games (greenlight) to be re-entered again and again by companies changing name
  • - Early access games never finished with companies moving on to other projects while it's still being sold
  • - Allowing all developers to sell mods, not fully blown good mods but item (£2.99 for gun)
  • - Counterstrike scandal, child gambling/third party
  • - Massive amounts of hacking in Counterstrike

Does Valve need to clean up it's act?

No.

1. The customization options they do have limit how my store front is, if anything they just need to add more options to that thing for my main store page
2. It's not like anyone is forcing me to buy those games.
3. The beauty of Steam and pc gaming is the sheer volume of good games I can end up getting week to week, and a lot of it can go under the radar. **** most gaming websites, most PC centric websites can't keep up with how many good or at least interesting games the PC gets week to week.

So closing them off, because they get some games that might be creepy that appeal to people you think are creepy? Eh it makes them happy, it's no scratch off my back.

It's been awhile since I even play any hentai games, guess I'll try Nurse Love Addiction. Thanks for the heads up Uninspiredcup, you're alright in my books :P

Also to your question, nope, Steam doesn't need to clean it's act. Let's leave Steam where it's at :P

VALVE implemented a skin system, people took it to the next level, hardly their fault.

They show up on my suggested queue all the freaking time. I can spot the otaku softcore anime porn just from the artwork. I don't know why there is so many of them. Its like a plague.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Steam/Valve anymore.

I still very much like the community hubs and steam workshop though, but everything else has fallen from grace.

I'd rather not buy from them but if the only option to get a certain game is to buy from steam, what you gonna do ?

Valve created the climate. Even if we exclude CS: Lotto, Valve have created a fruit machine that circumvents laws.

In one sense, it's highly admirable, as they are making millions and billions from literally, nothing.

On the other hand, it's getting innocent children into gambling - which 15 years from now, or less could have them sleeping at the side of the road with with a three legged dog as their only companion.

Even worse that shit is in my queue... i don't even have anything remotely close to that kind of game in my library, unless you count Final Fantasy or YS... ?

I totally agree that VALVE needs it's fucking head sorting, i'm here to game, not have access to porn... it's an added distraction, it also just gives underage virgins some fapping material, seriously it's quite disgusting really.

So that's 1 game out of 6 that's a visual novel and it's already a cesspit?

Okay then.

- The skin gambling isn't wholely Valve's fault.

- Played CS:GO so much in the past few weeks. Never encountered 1 cheater. Only people better than me.

-Early access, steam greenlight games. Games which you aren't required to buy.

I feel you on the queue nonsense. I don't know what algorithm they are using or if these people are paying them to force it into the suggested queue but it is annoying.

Like I say if you don't like it, don't buy it. Don't complain about what other people spend their money on.

Although it might be a good idea to put in filters for games containing keywords you don't like.

Expecting all parents around the world to be "in the know" of steam is inconceivable.

Most of the population haven't heard of it, and it's not advertised as a gambling site aimed at children, which it is.

This is why most people are failed abortions these days, poor parenting and misbehaving kids.

VALVE have ratings on their games, if a kid wants to get around the age barrier, it's very easy to do so.

I don't feel that parents should be breathing down their kids neck when they are simply playing a game on PC.

It's all too easy to just say everything is parental responsibility.

Well perhaps the kid sold a CSGO skin for 5000 dollars and uses that money to gamble ?

If your game basically has a slot machine built in... Where does the game end and the gambling begin ? Valve is very smart here. How are the parents to know when their kid is simply playing a game one minute and buying some stupid keys for skins the next ?

CSGO is much more than gambling, there are people who play it only for gambling, i don't even have any skins and am Global Elite in CS... i play it for the core game, i enjoy a roasting hard time, i enjoy stretching my skills and expanding, others enjoy making there gun look prettier.

I'm not saying it's 100% parents fault, a lot of it is though. If it was truly that bad parents will catch on... kid is spending all his money on skins in a game, Son, i want you to save that money for the holiday, spends it on a knife worth 300... come on... if a kid get's away with it, they get away with it.

It's like a thief in the real world, not all get caught.

Apparently (as I don't get into it) buying a game or playing it will deal the user random cards. And in order to achieve the "next level" if they haven't gotten a perfect set of random cards, they need to sell, trade or buy them for real money with Valve taking a cut.

While they can trade without losing money, the random element with the (arguably) obligatory need to recoup in order to progress appears to be a gambling meta-game.

Having seen the little children beg on forums, add people on steam friends list purely to beg, attempt to scam and what-not, it has a profound effect,

You are a little slow... this has been around for a long time now, i remember back when it was beta LOL,

You get drops given to you from the game, cards are very cheap, so don't go there.

Unfortunately something existing for X doesn't excuse nor justify it. Neither does being "cheap".

Slot machines appear cheap - and like children old woman can be very vulnerable.

I hear you. I played Team Fortress 2 for the addicting team based gameplay. For the cool classes and for all the humor it had.

Others played Team Fortress 2 for the hats. When the game had its run a lot of people just played it to unlock crap.

I didn't play it anymore. I didn't like how it changed from a fun team based shooter to a fun team based shooter revolving around cosmetics.

CS GO skins is TF2 hats taken to the next level.

Of course the parents have some responsibility. But so does Valve.

I'd like some regulation now. I hate how Valve can just do whatever it pleses and take zero responsibility.

And this is why Valve doesn't make games anymore.

They take cuts from everything now: Wanna sell a game ? That's 33 % ! Wanna sell a trading card ? Wanna sell a CSGO skin ? All of that gives them money.

And with hundreds of thousands of transactions on the market each day, Valve is laughing their way to the bank, without taking any responsibility.

Sh1t needs to get regulated, for real.

Im fan of STeam and im trying all my games being in there.

And just for the record , if EA or Ubi etc , had their games under STEAM umbrella ( Aside those that are must buy on whatever platform they are like Rayman or Mass Effect ) i'd have way more of their games , aka they would have more of my $$ than now which i buy only the must have.

And just for the record , if EA or Ubi etc , had their games under STEAM umbrella ( Aside those that are must buy on whatever platform they are like Rayman or Mass Effect ) i'd have way more of their games , aka they would have more of my $$ than now which i buy only the must have.

Honestly there is nothing wrong with Origin or Uplay.

Nothing wrong just i dont want 100 different platforms to have my games on. Thats why i buy ONLY the must have ( for my taste ) and thank god are not that many outside STEAM platform.

ITs their loss imho , if all of their games were on STEAM as well i bet i would consider buy some not must play as well like ive done plenty of times before with games on sales etc. But now ... the only time i found myself login on anything else than STEAM is when i need to play a specific must-have title of theirs and when i finish it theres no way to login again till the next must-play title ... months or even years later that is.

On the other hand im 24/7 on Steam.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Steam/Valve anymore.

I still very much like the community hubs and steam workshop though, but everything else has fallen from grace.

I'd rather not buy from them but if the only option to get a certain game is to buy from steam, what you gonna do ?

Kinda like wanting to play MP on consoles and having to pay for the online service? If you want to play online and or with your friends who have consoles, what you going to do?

:D

It's always been a cespit. there is no quality control and 99.9% of the games on it are trash.

Steam needs better filtering options but you are just overreacting at this point. If you don't like something then ignore it.

Steam is fine as a service, outside the whole gouging europeans bit.

The shovelware can easily be ignored.
