Yeah, I'm not a fan of Steam/Valve anymore.

I still very much like the community hubs and steam workshop though, but everything else has fallen from grace.

I'd rather not buy from them but if the only option to get a certain game is to buy from steam, what you gonna do ?

Kinda like wanting to play MP on consoles and having to pay for the online service? If you want to play online and or with your friends who have consoles, what you going to do?

:D

Yeah thats a good analogy.

This feels worse. I feel tied to steam... for free O_O

I gave my soul to them for free.

I remember when steam was cool, back around 2011.

That was so good the sales, the support.

Now a days its just ugh.

Steam Greenlight could certainly use some help. When games like Kimulator get greenlit, there is a problem.

I laugh at OP's suggested game.

But yes, Steam has become a cesspit of awful games. You didn't have to look that up to find that out.

(it still has awesome games in it too though)

Honestly, I don't buy stuff on Steam anymore. Humble Bundles exist. Green Man Gaming exists. G2A exists. They usually have better prices and you get Steam codes.

Is G2A safe? I heard some mixed things about them though it was most likely fear mongering shit.

I'd stay pretty far away from G2A.

Cheap games, but probably Stolen. Small Devs like Tiny Build saw a lot of people buy keys from them, but issued charge backs on their cards so they kept the key, kept their money, and proceed to sell their key for a profit while Tiny Build had to pay charge back fees.

Can't trust a site like G2A when stuff like that is rampant. I'm not saying G2A is to blame for Tiny Build losing money on scammers, but the fact there are people that steal keys and sell them on G2A is unsettling to me and has me avoiding that spot for years.

Ubisoft also deactivated a bunch of keys for it's games for suspect of theft and a ton of users got mad because why? You guessed it they bought their game on G2A.

With these two things in mind I think it's just better to wait for a sale on Steam or GOG or wherever for a game you don't want to pay full price or heck just pay full price for a game that you know is yours LEGITIMATELY.

Alright, thinking about buying mad max off them since it's only like $10 whereas steam has it at $49.99.

Pray tell what is so bad about "those" kind of games coming onto steam?

We can't have an adult market for games in stores? when are we going to get past this bullshit? Given the Pornhub searching habits of Playstation gamers ... they would bloody sell tons on Playstation as well.

"Quality control" "Steam use to be cool" wtf.... oh no more variety! gamespot system warrior faggots should dictate what is "acceptable to sell" now? are you f*cking kidding me?

DISCLAIMER I own none of those games. just the prudish BS in this thread is hilarious. Take your american dark age christianity and shove it up your asses.

Hell not even online, its easy to find any shit anywhere.

Hit up the bargain DVD bin at a walmart, Go to Big Lots for the largest selection of knockoff crap, or Dollar store for household cleaner that is straight vinegar.

Seems like the issue isnt really that such things exist but just that you're mad cause it showed up in your recommendations / queue / whatever.

How in the world did you even get that in your first Steam page?

I frequently look through indies and I never even know such games exist.

As I understand it, the Steam page will actually recommend games based on your search history or previously browsed games (something akin to youtube)...so if you have that in your recommendations...

Anyway, its PC. Its a wonderfully open system and Steam is a reflection of that. You get what you find and you can find almost anything on the PC. But that depends on what you're trying to find in the first place...Like someone else mentioned, Steam, like PC, yes it has crap games, it also has EVERYTHING ELSE!

Their real problems can never be fixed, they are a grey market key seller. If you're fine with possibly buying a stolen key then go for it. Any site that sells protection in case your key doesn't work isn't legitimate in my eyes.

I'd take this 'cesspit' over the walled garden than we had before, where good games were being rejected. People complained back then about it and now people are complaining calling out quality control because gamers cant read or are shit at finding avenues for discoverability (all the tools are there on the page).

Nope. I love Steam the way it is. The longer they keep separate from the other markets like PSstore, xbox live, and Origin the better.

I wouldn't call that a bad game. The most popular visual novels it feels like are Otome, which is a female with a bunch of dudes to romance. This looks like the same idea, but with lesbians. I wouldn't touch it with a 100 foot pole because I want my visual novels closer to Steins;Gate or Zero Escape, but the game itself seems fine for those who like romance stories. Diversity is what helps a market grow, and ultimately give exposure to an under-appreciated genre.

With that said, Steam works for me. Good games can be found through the normal filtering methods of just following Neogaf/RPGCodex/insert forum of choice here and maybe recommendations on the front page.

No.

1. The customization options they do have limit how my store front is, if anything they just need to add more options to that thing for my main store page

2. It's not like anyone is forcing me to buy those games.

3. The beauty of Steam and pc gaming is the sheer volume of good games I can end up getting week to week, and a lot of it can go under the radar. **** most gaming websites, most PC centric websites can't keep up with how many good or at least interesting games the PC gets week to week.

So closing them off, because they get some games that might be creepy that appeal to people you think are creepy? Eh it makes them happy, it's no scratch off my back.

Hey 'Champ I bet Nurse Love Addiction has a gripping story

I boot up steam today and this is the first game.

  • - Seedy cartoon games
  • - Greenlight games with unity asset flips
  • - Ability for terrible games (greenlight) to be re-entered again and again by companies changing name
  • - Early access games never finished with companies moving on to other projects while it's still being sold
  • - Allowing all developers to sell mods, not fully blown good mods but item (£2.99 for gun)
  • - Counterstrike scandal, child gambling/third party
  • - Massive amounts of hacking in Counterstrike

Does Valve need to clean up it's act?

Must be the Euro sites because this is what I get on mine. Perhaps there are more in Euro Land who prefer those kinds of games.

well the pc is an open platform and that can be a advantage compared to other systems. It's only normal steam is trying to make money of it.

The whole children gambling thing is defenitely parental responsibility. Don't give them your credit card....

This is a very odd thing to post, as nobody actually implied you had hundreds of hentai games - yet for some reason felt compelled to post a defense - passing the buck to the entirety of Europe.

Very odd.

Couldn't care less. It's not like I'm forced to buy or look at those games. I usually search for the game I'm interested in, not browsing the Steam store page. When I do, I ignore all the crap. You should too.

Meh, I just buy my Steam games from cd key stores. I get new games for like 50% of the Steam price that way. Would be nice if they acknowledge that 50 dollars isn't the exact same thing as 50 euros, but until then I'll just keep not buying games on Steam.

Yeah, there's a lot of trash on Steam. Reminds of browsing Google Play sometimes. All of the good stuff is still there, though - and the variety.

GOG is better when it comes to game curation. They don't just accept any trash onto their site.

Okay then.

- The skin gambling isn't wholely Valve's fault.

- Played CS:GO so much in the past few weeks. Never encountered 1 cheater. Only people better than me.

-Early access, steam greenlight games. Games which you aren't required to buy.

A fellow Filipino? I see Philippine peso...

Anyway, the beauty of PC gaming is that anyone can make a game and sell it. Nobody is forcing to buy you a game. If you're being bombarded with games you don't like then just quit being lazy and do your research. A PC gamer always does research. Anything you implement that mirrors Nintendo's past actions to restrict who gets to make a game and sell goes against the philosophy of PC gaming.

Yeah, but that would have to be at the firmware level then, of PC:s.

You are mistaken if you think that Steam accepts proper eroge without the nudity/sex scenes cut out.

All I know is that in the past few years during sales....I've bought maybe 3 or 4 games.

They've all been somewhat "meh". Heres to hoping Ziggurat lives up to how it looks. The only thing I bought during the last sale.
