Cybershot is a good camera, Playstation is still a respected brand name, and yes, their TVs are well known.

well here's the thing. When Diamond and Creative where taking a stab at it and it was a sure sign that the MP3 format was successful, they still did nothing. The Ipod's dominance didn't happen overnight.looking back it sure as hell seems like it though.

Making discmans/men that could read mp3s burned to a CD was doing something, and it made sense. However, it should have been a temporary thing, because once mp3 players started walking into the Gigabytes territory, portable CD players would become useless. Again, remember that those early mp3 players held ridiculously small amounts of data. The drive speace leap should have been foreseen by Sony, but maybe they just didn't see it happening that quickly.

I'm not arguing about what they did. It's that they didn't go far enough. As a result the Walkman died a pathetic death.

"maybe they just didn't see it happening that quickly"

That's entirely the problem, They should have. As a competitive brand in that space, they failled to innovate and paid for it. Maybe they thought the Playstation was enough. At one point it was. The same thing happened to them in that space as well. As advanced as the PS3 was, it wasn't very forward thinking. They totally overthought the tech and underthought the online.

and this is my thought as well... Sony has a knack for creating a very competent product that gets bested by someone elses ingenuity, convienience or idea. This is what I see happening within the playstation brand. Even now they are throwing money at exclusive content (which we know the hardcore gamers love) and yet even though MS's big draw has been the head and shoulders advatage it has with online gaming (and rightly so, xbl is awesome...) Sony still sits back and gets **** slapped with the same ugly and uninviting UI its had for years... hell even the news ticker is laughable consider XBOX 1 had a news ticker in EA sports games back in the day... This isnt a sony hate thread from me, its a "are you guys watching this happen all over again to another sony division, like I am?" thread... and yeah it seems to be happening.

I will answer simply with a NO. Why NO you may ask? Just look at the games! It's all about the games! Just look at it, my fellow gamer, just look at the games.
